This plumbing company is overpriced and they do not complete their work. I agree with some other reviewers that Dan is curt and they price gouge the heck out of you. We used Keithley Plumbing when we purchased our home in 2016. They were given written details of the work required via an email. We had a leaking t&p valve, pool heater gas line to be replaced and our drain line needed a clean out.
The workers were late and had to be called out several times for the water heater as it continued to leak after they ""fixed it"". In the end, Keithley said ""they didn't know what was wrong"". A different plumber quickly identified the issue and fixed it without any issues.
For our pool gas line, they only changed one of the pipes at the gas meter to the larger size requested, but left 2 small portions of pipe at the smaller size and called the job complete and charged us $326--for 2 hours of work and a $100 for a part (the part being a 25 inch in length 1&1/2 inch diameter pipe-- way overpriced!). When we got around to installing a new pool heater we discovered the 2 small pieces of pipes that had not been replaced to the larger size. I contacted Phyllis at Keithley to inform her of their oversight and she told me that she would have to charge us AGAIN another $230 for 2 hours of work PLUS the parts. She stated, ""they may not have completed the job, but you were not charged for the work they didn't complete"". I was shocked that she admitted they made an error and still wanted to charge us more money for their error-- talk about gouging the customer! Yikes! I forwarded her the original email detailing the scope of work at the gas line and informed her we went with them based on their estimate to replace the pool heater gas lines, completely. She told me she would still have to charge (again) and would be available to do so 2 WEEKS from now.. what a joke!
We have already contacted another plumber who will charge a normal and reasonable price for the Keithley mistake at $130 total.
Beware of these plumbers and do your homework! Shop around for estimates before going with them.
Stacy O.We used Keithly Plumbing as they were recommended on our neighborhood vendor list. A huge and expensive disappointment.
After several attempts to resolve a whistling noise, and after replacing a regulator (that their technician recommended) the issue was still there. When we asked them to return to the house, Phyllis Keithly told my husband to call the City and then informed us their would be additional charges to come back. She must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed because she was beyond rude! I know they've been around for years... perhaps time to retire.
I've got a problem, that was a little unusual so I called asking for an appointment. sent a photo to the plumber of the piping to insure he would be equipped to deal with it. Told he would arrive two days later between 10-12.
No show called at twelve told he would call. called at 1 asked dispatch to call me and was told he doesn't take his phone or doesn't turn it on? And said that he called the day before to say my assessment of the situation was incorrect and he would call again, never did now after I stayed home and lost a days pay I was told he isn't coming and I should call a different plumber, I have his voice mail if anyone wants to hear it
J.R. M.My family has been using Keithley plumbing for years on their home and our rental properties. I cannot say enough nice things about them. The woman who answers the phone is very knowledge and helpful, plus she always fits us in when we have an emergency at a rental. Their technicians are always so polite and really know what they're doing. Dan knows what part to bring before he even arrives which always amazes me. Brian and Jim have done a great job installing a few water heaters (among countless other jobs) at our own home and our rentals. This crew is awesome and I plan on using them for many years to come!
Shelly M.Keithley Plumbing really is amazing. Prompt, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. I had a problem with a valve in the shower that seemed difficult for other plumbers to diagnose. Keithley looked over the problem, diagnosed it and promptly sent a quote off to me. The work was completed promptly and neatly (they had to go through a wall to access the valve) and I could not be happier. I have had nightmare experiences with plumbers and this was just the opposite!!!
Kyla H.I've been using Keithley Plumbing for the past 3 years primarily for problems that pop up at a historic craftsman multifamily rental I manage in Alhambra. I've always received prompt and professional service. I'm very grateful to have found a plumbing company that I trust!
Stryker L.Best plumbers In the area, good service clean employees and fast good professional services. They don't mess around!
Had a semi-emergency. Our guest bedroom shower valve, a California Faucets thermostatic valve, had apparently become clogged by Pasadena's hard water deposits and would not provide more than luke warm water. We had house guests arriving soon, so I needed to get this done much sooner than later. I got the replacement valve from Lane at George's Plumbing and Lane recommended Keithley Plumbing as someone familiar with California Faucets' unique ceramic valves. Dan showed up right on time and in about half an hour had 3 valves changed out. He also repaired a few other plumbing odds and ends, cleaned up and was done in about a hour. The charge was fair and I will definitely use Keithley Plumbing again. And a shout out to Phyllis in the office who returned my calls promptly and did her best to get me an appointment that fit my schedule.
Lindy H.We have used this service three times this month for various leaks. They were ""Johnny-on-the-spot"" every time and fixed everything very quickly. They really know what they are doing and we will continue to use them for any and every plumbing need that may come up!!
...Called them for a vessel sink that leaked (a little, and not from underneath - just a little onto the wood top it was sitting on.) Well, the sink leaks worse than before AND NOW leaks from underneath. He didn't fix it at all. Dan was a curt with me in his manner when I questioned the huge splodge of white silicone (that will turn clear he told me) caulking under the sink... and where a little finesse was needed, it was clear to me that he wanted to get the hell outta there. I'm thinking he knew that the sink wasn't fixed. Just get the check and leave quickly, was most likely his thinking. And like many contractors it's the typical: ""Who did this in the first place?"" ""It's a mess!"" and ""What a Mickey Mouse job!"" Well the ""mess"" of a ""Mickey Mouse job"" served us well for 8+ years and didn't leak until a few weeks ago, so I'd say that wasn't too shabby...but HIS work was. $110 for 20 minutes of work is... kinda steep considering the actual work. Oh well. And the bummer is with yelp... which of all these reviews do you trust? The five star ones saying how wonderful the work is? Or mine... here. I called the company (wife does all the phone and admin stuff.) They claim that ""the silicone isn't dry yet and that's why."" So I waited. Nope. Not fixed and definitely worse than before. They said, ""Well, he could come back and bring a different gasket."" I said ""No thanks... I don't want him here again."" ""Okay"" she said, ""We'll rip up the check."" Hope they do. But the stop payment thing at the bank to be sure still cost me $30..... for nothing. Grrrr. Why is it so difficult to find decent, competent plumbers? Here's a news flash for ALL plumbers, electricians, contractors and handymen: Treat a clients house as if it were your own, and do a great job. It's not rocket science. All you need to do is do a GREAT JOB. So... I called my trusty handyman (that came from a PERSONAL referral) and he fixed it. No problem. And it cost me $20. :-) There ya go. How did he do it you ask? An O-ring, plumbers putty and a little silicone EXPERTLY applied, and tightening it properly. It should have been easy enough for Keithley Plumbing, but bizarrely, it wasn't. Shame.
