The Keating Plumbing and Heating was very responsive in sending out a salesman immediately and in promising quick installation of a heat pump/mini split. However, their pricing was MORE than 50% higher than the competition.
Charlotte L.I am very unhappy with a bill I just received from Keating for a small repair to a leaking pipe. They were there in under 2 hours and charged me $469! They charge $140 just for the privilege of driving to your home (10 minutes from their office) and the other outrageous fee. Before using them I would ask about their pricing schedule before you get zapped like I did. No criticism of the actual plumber or the work done, but this fee structuring is not designed for regular people. Look elsewhere.
Took advantage of us when we had a furnace fire. Never came back to fix the leaking pipe. Needed them for a bathroom leak and lead us on for over 3 weeks before deciding they did not have time to help.
Medora H.We have been customers of Keating for years and years. Back in the 1980's when Keene flooded (before the Beaver Brook Dam was built) the Keatings went out of their way to pump out our basement. They were beyond generous. But now things have changed. Mike and Lyn Keating have sold the business and the new owner is bad news. Our pump in the basement stopped working and I called them out of habit. Mistake. They came promptly since they were just finishing something. Two good workers came and fixed the problem in under an hour and half. The bill? $750. Gotta say that I feel that is insane. It is a fact that these workers are paid $20 or less. A former employee informed me of this. So my advice is avoid Keating Plumbing and Heating because you will be charged mightily. So sad. Old Ken Keating was a decent fine man.
Kristina L.I honestly have nothing good to say about this company. If I could give them zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I are a young couple that just bought a mobile home, we were having troubles with our hot water heater so we decided to call Keating- big mistake. They came to take a look at it and got right to work. Never communicated with us as to what was wrong with it/ how much it costed to fix. So when they were done ""fixing"" my hot water heater they handed me a bill of almost a thousand dollars. I could have gotten a brand new water heater with a thousand dollars. After that we were still having trouble with our water heater. I called again explained what happened and why I was upset and the lady on the phone said she would send someone out to come look at it and that we would not be charged- well that absolute B.S. The man came over to my house again and ""fixed"" it again and charged me for it. A few weeks later my hot water heater breaks AGAIN. We called a different company and they helped us out and didn't charge us up the ass, they also said Keating did their job wrong while fixing my hot water heater. The pipes had to be cut- and when you cut the pipes you have to prime them and sand them down so the thing your connecting the pipe too stays. They just cut it, smacked it together and called it good. I wouldnt even recommend this company if my life depended on it.
My boyfriend is a contractor and working on a house with this company. The plumbers showed up to work and threw a fit to the owner of the house that the contractors were not wearing a mask (in a basement, no where near where the plumbers were working). The plumbers never once asked the contractors to wear a mask. If they did, there would have been no issues with the contractors putting a mask on as they had them on hand, so the plumbers left early. The owner of the house then asked the contractors to come to work the following day at noon instead of early in the morning to ""give the plumbers space to work"". Now, MY family is going to be without several hours worth of money, two weeks before Christmas.
Very professional crew.....very knowledgeable, on-time and polite too. Our Mitsubishi A/C units are wonderful and Keating Plumbing and Heating did a great job!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS !
Seven years ago, this company serviced our furnace and did a reliable job with friendly staff. We continued to use them yearly since then. Something happened in the past year or so where several employees left. After requesting a service to replace a commode handle, a shower head, and a simple shower tub handle leak, things went ""drippy"" with Keating rapidly. The company now does not follow up on service calls; on two occasions they missed appointments completely; they charged a plumbing rate to fix the shower head and after ordering the parts, came out to the residence and said they would need to now cut into the wall and install pipes and other non-mentioned items with an expected increase in $1200 bill. Finally, the yearly maintenance charge for servicing the furnace was four months away from renewing before they sent us a ""past due"" statement requesting the service renewal....
UGH !!!
Installing radiant heat on the main floor of our house was not an easy decision, largely due to the high cost (indeed, we split the project over two years to handle the cost). But now that it's done, we wouldn't go back to the old radiators. There's nothing quite like walking in stocking feet on a warm floor in winter. Keating did excellent work--very professional with many years of experience. Because Mike Keating is local and takes pride in his ""product,"" I recommend him and his business to anyone looking to upgrade to radiant heat. Holding back on the fifth star is not the fault of the company--it's a reflection of the sticker shock of taking on such a project.
As a former employee and as someone who got alot of feed back from their customers, I can quite honestly say that the Keating company and it's employees were always viewed as a very fair and caring company. Customers always spoke highly of the work performed and the caring way in which they were treated. As an employee, I found the Keatings very easy to work for and open to new positive ideas in the workplace. They always made themselves accessible for questions and input during any problem that would arise. Kudos to the Keatings.
