Tanmoy S.I would only recommend their services in emergencies or if cost isn't a major concern. We are new to the area. Our senior citizen neighbors recommended them along with two other companies. My refrigerator filter was leaking water and needed replacement. He noticed this during his inspection of the access point I had already opened and also suggested we address the aging pressure reducing valve, which he happened to have on hand. It seemed to be a common issue, and he quoted me a rate of $285 per hour plus the cost of parts. I decided to bite the bullet and I agreed, and his young assistant he bought with him efficiently replaced both the regular and refrigerator filters in under an hour. I offered to pay him immediately and brought out my check book, but he declined, stating that he would send an invoice as he wasn't certain of the regulator's price(Remind, this is a common issue and he had this item on stock). This puzzled me because I had never encountered a plumber or contractor who didn't want immediate payment for their work.
In summary, he ended up billing me for 1.5 hours of work despite completing the job in just one hour. When I questioned this, he explained it was due to the time spent going to the store to purchase the water filter (Which he probably should have had as professional) and the time he spent preparing the invoice, which he counted as billable hours. This is the first time I heard someone charging me time for invoicing. To make matters worse, the parts he provided were marked up two to three times higher than the market price. For instance, a 3/4 pro press repair coupling costs $7 at Home Depot, but they invoiced me $22.10 for it. The 3/4 pressure reducing valve at homedepot is $150 and they charged $275.00.
In the end, the total bill for replacing the pressure reducing valve and refrigerator filter came to $905. I reached out to multiple plumbers when I initially had the issue, and one of them called me back the next day. Out of curiosity, I inquired about the cost of changing the pressure-reducing valve and refrigerator filter, and he quoted me a total price of $350 for, parts and labor. This was almost a third of what I had to pay Ketonah Plumbing. I believe that they originally operated as a small, family-owned business, which might explain their longevity in the industry. However, over time, they transitioned into a larger corporation and began hiring employees who seem to engage in unethical practices, taking advantage of customers.
I had an excellent experience this winter with Katonah Plumbing. I was a first time customer and they were referred from another vendor. The estimate was fair and the final price was exactly accurate. Equally (more?) important, all of the work done was top quality. The workers who came to my home were professional and courteous and clean; they arrived on time and went the extra mile to make sure all the projects were done right. I will definitely use Katonah Plumbing again should I have any needs in my home.
Angela H.Very neat and organized. They gave me a quote that was reasonable and completed the job in a professional timely manner. Every question and concern was taken care of leaving me at ease and confident throughout my repairs & experience with Katonah Plumbing & Heating.
I found that every person I talked to was very knowledgeable. The quotes provided were very detailed. They showed up on time and completed the jobs in a professional manner. They clearly carry everything needed in their vehicles as I added a small job to the list and they finished everything without having to leave to get parts.
Pros: Friendly enough
Cons: Ridiculous quote for a job that would total a few hours.
We had a kitchen remodeled 2yrs ago. Kid who worked there was rude. We needed faucet installed, drain for sink and dishwasher hooked up, well drain in sink not flush, level and centered, plumbers putty very visible. Drain from dishwashers hose too long, and not installed according to GE instructions which kid didn't look at. I just noticed a leak under the sink from their work. Either fix it myself or call a real plumber like Robert Spano.
I have a rental home in Katonah. My tenants reported a burst pipe and sent me photos of said pipe. I called Katonah Plumbing and heating and they responded promptly. HOWEVER they apparently stayed for 5 hours repairing the said pipe and Billed me for $1100...NEVER once in that time calling me (in this day of cell phones) to tell me of additional problems and give me the oppertunity to OKAY additional work.I will never use them again Beware!!
