Have had an extremely frustrating experience with this business over the past few weeks. Have not been able to obtain a bid for replacement of a water heater. After numerous calls and excuses, the employee taking calls has been rude, insulting, and unhelpful. This is a vey unpleasant, unprofessional individual. Apparently, this firm is not staffed appropriately.

Kastl Plumbing recently replaced our water heater with a high efficiency unit and we could not be happy. The installation was completed professionally and cleanly. I would highly recommend Kastl.

Contrary to the other reviews on here, l am quite happy with Kastl. I called Tuesday to have a clogged drain fixed. Was called back and told 8-10 Wednesday. Glory Be, he showed up at 8:20 and got it fixed before 10. In addition it didn't cost as much as I thought it would. In the past they fixed a toilet problem for me and did that properly too. In Lawrence 90% of the battle is getting people to show up or call you back. Kastl passed this test with flying colors.

Several months ago I hired Kastl Plumbing to replace a water heater after getting good reviews for them from a couple of acquaintances. Their price was reasonable (I had shopped around), they were courteous and professional and were in and out in about 2 hours. Subsequently I hired them to replace a leaking water main, a much more serious job requiring a backhoe and trench borer and 80 feet of copper pipe. The showed up first thing in the morning on the scheduled day, again were very courteous, professional and efficient, cleaned up after themselves and were done in about 6 hours. I will use them for any of my future plumbing needs.

Very frustrated. Called on 8/13 for an appointment. Earliest for both the business and us, the customers, was 8/21 between 1pm and 3pm. Kastl called at 10:01am on 8/21, apologized, stated scheduled worker was caught on a previous job and couldn't make it, but would reschedule or find a different worker to get out to our house. No problem, we'll reschedule. Advised Kastl that it had to be done AM that following Monday or Tuesday and was told first thing Tuesday at 8:30am. 9:44am Tuesday, today, husband calls to say no one has arrived. Checked my phone no contact attempted by Kastl. Call Kastl was told they should have been there and they would call me back. 10:01am call Kastl back asking for an update and was told there was an emergency at Perkins Restaurant and they hoped to be there this AM still. 10:05am Kastl calls back to say they are on their way. Over an hour and a half after they were supposed to arrive, and us having to call and tell them they weren't here, they fixed the issue in about an hour and a half. The bill $134.25 for labor, $50 material, $4.75 tax. They replaced about 10"" of pipe (outdoor faucet in, easy access). We lost $80+ to take off work and wait. No compensation for their issue, multiple accommodations made by us, and when I expressed this Kastl said, ""Ma'am I apologized.""

The WORST experience we've had with ANY company in Lawrence. Kastl replaced our sewer line in the beginning of June. First, in the process of replacing the line in the backyard, they tore up our front yard as well. They also left large pieces of old sewer pipe in the yard. It looked as though they just dug up the old line and then used it to fill in the holes. We also have 1-2 ft deep sink holes in areas where they didn't mound or fill-in correctly. We have not been able to use our backyard at all for almost a month. We have been back and forth with this company for weeks (always calling them because no one follows up with us!) They have promised to come clean up multiple times, but never show up. We eventually ended up calling another company in town. They were able to come by the same day we called. They were surprised at how horrible the yard looked and could not believe that Kastl even used gravel over the new pipe (something well-known in the trade) because the yard was so uneven. The other company gave us a referral for someone to clean-up the mess, but we decided to give Kastl one more chance. Last week we were told that someone would be there on Thursday or Friday to clean up. No one showed up. We called again and were promised that someone would come over Monday. The same Kastl employees came over and removed a few chunks of sewer. Unfortunately, when we asked about the rest of the clean-up they were completely rude and said ""there's no way we are paying for grass seed for your yard."" We never asked for grass seed! We just want a level yard that is free of sewer debris so we can get started on fixing our yard! The complete lack of customer service is almost unbelievable. I would not recommend this company to anyone. In the end I guess their work is speaking for itself. In the last 3 weeks we have had multiple people (both neighbors and strangers) stop and ask what happened to our yard. One word. Kastl.

Not very friendly on the phone, said they would call back after finding out if anyone was available. Never did. Guess no one was. I wish more people in Lawrence would use Yelp!!!!!!

I am new to town and needed some minor plumbing done. I called and talked to the office about the company and how long it would take to get service. I was told they were available the following week. I checked my work schedule and called back the following week and made an appointment. I took a half day vacation only to find as I left work that they had left me a voicemail cancelling my appointment. I called as soon as I got the message. Their answer service answered the phone and of course they were off 12-2pm for lunch. When I finally was able to talk to the office staff and was told that they were behind, blah blah, blah, but they could schedule me for the next day. I explained I had taken a half day vacation today and could not be available the next day. I pleaded to have someone come this day to do a minor part of my job but there was no effort on their part to help me. I give them an F for reliability and customer service. I would not recommend this business to anyone and will certainly tell all my family and friends how awful they were.

I had high hopes for this plumbing company. They were voted ""Best of Lawrence"" and when we initially called them, they were to my home the next day. The plumber that came to actually do the work, was very nice, communicative and always approached me before he did something to make sure it was what I wanted. Thanks Sean
HOWEVER, a ""more experienced"" plumber came to do a proposal to replace our water line, and he explained very clearly how much it would cost and explained that if a portion of concrete needed to be removed and replaced it would be an additional charge. He explained that the reason they do proposals and not estimates is to take away the fear of additional costs when they begin the work. They account for everything that could happen, and lessen the bill if it's not as difficult or time consuming. (I thought this was great.)
The day they replaced my water line, it took less time than they originally proposed and did not have to replace any concrete. I was told when they left that my bill would reduced because they weren't going to charge me for the extra time they thought they would have originally spent.
I got the final bill two weeks after the work had been done and it was for about $500 more than proposed. When I called the plumber to ask why he was very rude, very unprofessional on the phone, would not let me finish a sentence and in the end, he hung up on me.
Naturally, I called his boss (the owner) to reconcile with him the lack of professionalism in his employee and also to speak about my bill and understand why it was so much higher than proposed. He tried to tell me that the numbers on my proposal were different numbers and that it was my fault that I could not read the numbers correctly. (Which is ridiculous because I had a verbal conversation with the plumber when he did the proposal about these numbers). Anyway, the owner was just as rude and hung up on me as well.
I don't know how a company can do business in this way and get repeat customers. I will not be calling them back to my home. And I still don't understand why they were charging me more money than they proposed.

BEWARE! Oh they are quite the charmers! Refer to Peety S. review, except my problem involved a leaky pipe and a toilet that wouldn't flush. Seems you need to tell them exactly how to fix the problem, because they don't feel it is their responsibility to make certain it works before they leave, as long as they did one thing. Upon 2nd visit they augured 4 feet of toilet line (not including the toilet) charged me 175.00, then said I need a new toilet. Now I need to call a plumber.
