I used this company to install a Rheem furnace just before my Christmas party in 2021. They came right away. They were prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. In March (2023) I requested a bid to add an air conditioning unit to that furnace and Roger came to do the bid. He was so kind, knowledgeable and welcoming that I was torn about getting his price and another less expensive unit. Because of my budget I took the less expensive option knowing that I was at risk but accepting the risk. I would recommend this company without exception. I have been doing historic restoration for 60 years, so getting bids and working with contractors is Modis operandi for me. They are a great company you can trust! Great grandma 82 years young.

I have had two separate reasons to hire KVM, the first was a gas line replacement and the second was a hot water tank replacement. This used to be a dependable company, but it has slipped badly. The last three times I have used them, they have either not showed up, not returned phone calls (on multiple occasions), or left the problem unfixed--without communicating this but still charging for the job. I have recently heard similar complaints about them from others, some of whom I had personally referred to Kanawha Valley Maintenance. Total lack of accountability and reliability.

I made an appointment to have my gas heater hooked up. Then, when they called to say someone was coming, I wasn't available to get to the phone. So, they didn't send anyone. I took a vacation day for this appointment and sat around all day waiting for someone who didn't show up.

I rescheduled the appointment. Someone showed up. After almost an hour, the people told me, ""Well, we had it hooked up in ten minutes, but it doesn't work."" So, they charged me an hour. I get it wasn't their fault that the unit didn't work.

Good customer service says two things:

1) You tell the customer IN ADVANCE that even if you have an appointment, if you don't answer when we call, we won't come.

2) If the customer wastes TWO VACATION DAYS waiting for someone, and you know in ten minutes that the unit doesn't work, then you say, ""Gee. I'm sorry about the mix-up last time so I'm not going to charge you for this pointless ten minutes.""

The people were nice. Their ethics and customer service are abysmal.
