Kalka Plumbing Heating and Air is a business based on top-notch customer service, which is brought to life by the people who work there. Sara (plumbing), Ryan (HVAC) and Jordan (sales/solutions) recently visited our home to address an issue, and we found each of them to be considerate, knowledgable and helpful. Identifying and fixing our issue was their top priority, while demonstrating considerable respect for our questions, our home and our predicament. It can be unnerving to have a plumbing or HVAC issue, but Kalka makes it less so, because the experienced and friendly technicians who provide services are committed to their craft as much as they are committed to their customers.

This was a wonderful, efficient experience getting our air conditioning repaired! Very impressed with Lucas, who diagnosed the problem in less than fifteen minutes, and fixed it within the hour. Excellent service, especially when it is so hot and we needed the air conditioning! Thank you all the way around!

HVAC companies are receiving incentives to put heat pump systems into homes. HVAC experts nationally warn that heat pumps are noisy and should not be placed near doors, windows, or neighbors. Heat pumps also emit condensate so should not be placed on concrete patios. Ours was placed on our concrete patio next to our glass patio door and close to the bedroom window. We were told that it would take two days to install and that the unit was so quiet we would not hear it inside and that the air flow would be even throughout the house. Since my husband is not well and is very sensitive to noise and temperature fluctuations, it seemed to be a good choice. Our install occurred over a stressful four weeks as Kalka technicians remodeled and resized every element of the system and replaced defective parts. In the end, the system works quietly and efficiently when maintaining a set heating or cooling temperature and the outside temperature is not more than 10 degrees different than the set temperature. If the thermostat is changed more than a degree or two, or if the outside temperature is more extreme, there are a variety of noisy and disturbing rumbling and rattling sounds and vibration transfers in the house. The first night the temperature went down to 41 degrees outside. The unit worked hard to produce heat and the resulting noise and vibration inside the house was like a dentist using a loud low speed burr tool. And then the reversal valve kicked in as the system defrosted three times overnight. It was not possible to have a conversation in the family room or sleep so we cannot use the heat cycle if it is cold outside. Noise abatement procedures are useless. The condensate makes ugly rivulets on the patio if the heat cycle is on. The heat pump sound on the patio is grating when the system works at less than minimum speed so we must turn the system off if we are outside. Suggestions to move the unit to the side of the house near a neighbor are untenable. We paid top dollar for a system larger than we needed that had to be modified extensively and can be used comfortably only in a narrow range of temperatures. Our advice is to have several companies evaluate your HVAC needs before making any HVAC system changes.

Our furnace/air cond unit had not had maintenance for over two years due to the pandemic. When I called Kalka Plumbing, Heating and Air, they came out in a couple days. Their lead person was Kamran Lewis. They found black mold in the intake plenum and a cracked furnace firebox. This meant that I needed special mold removal and a new furnace, which was 15 years old. Kalka called in the mold remediation company, and they had all the mold removed in a few days. After that, Kamran Lewis and his team removed the old furnace, built back the intake plenum, and installed the new furnace all in three days. Kamran was very knowledgeable and efficient in his work and in directing his team. I have been using Kalka for over 15 years, and their work has always been top notch.

I found Kalka Plumbing Heating & Air because they left a flyer on the door of my condo....kinda old school marketing but it worked! My condo was built in 1992 and has a crappy old ""hydronics"" system which uses the hot water heater to heat the home.......it's a system that is obsolete and NO ONE works on them!....except Kalka and that's why I kept the flyer.

Anyway, I came home a couple weeks ago and my place was hot so I turned on the A/C.....and nothing happened......I work outside and I want to be cool when I get home!.... anyway, 5 minutes later (which seemed like forever) the A/C finally kicked on.....I was worried enough to call Kalka and have them come out and check my system and perhaps give it a ""tune-up"". The next day, their service tech, Adam came over and did a very thorough job checking everything.....and I mean everything......part of the stupid unit is in my ceiling in the hallway and crammed in there and the condenser is outside......the unit in the ceiling is old and Adam said could leak and flood my unit at any time cuz it's shot and the condenser looked old, rusted and abandoned...he's telling me everything I pretty much already knew!....so I asked for a price to replace this crap and update it to a complete new A/C and heating system cuz I'd rather be proactive then reactive....

While Adam was continuing to inspect my A/C and heating unit, Jordan the ""comfort advisor"" shows up with his fancy iPad and starts by showing me the over the top ""Uranium package"".....I'm joking here but I am a contractor for 30 years and tell him I just need a good quality system for a fair and reasonable price that works.....anyway, Jordan gives me an estimate for a ""mid-grade"" system that will vastly improve the efficiency and performance of my existing unit AND at a fair and reasonable price.......which is exactly what I wanted.

A few days later I give Jordan the go ahead after I chatted with another A/C company that said my existing system is a nightmare to work on and even suggested I go with Kalka because their price was fair and that company would charge the same or even more but DOESN'T WORK ON MY TYPE OF SYSTEM......that's what sealed it for me!

The install crew showed up right away and were courteous, hardworking and respectful of my property.....did everything go perfect, no....BUT....they handled the hiccups like a good contractor should!....they had the wrong part......they spilled water on my ceiling removing the water filled unit in my ceiling (which was hard to remove!) and it took an extra day and I had 1 night of not-so-good sleep listening to the unit running all night (because it was the wrong part)......but Kalka made good on ALL of these hiccups.....they primed and painted the ceiling (and around the new thermostat), replaced the wrong part with the correct part and helped me set-up the thermostat app on my phone so I can control my new system with my phone.....

The whole experience using Kalka to replace my entire A/C & heating system was an effortless and refreshing project and now I have an awesome energy efficient A/C system that will not only save me $$$ but provide me many years of worry-free service......AND......increase the value of my home as it was a very wise investment!

Thanks a million Adam, Jordan and the entire the install team from Kalka for doing an amazing job!

I was at my wits end with the noise from my HAC unit. Ryan assessed, gave me options and was efficient and pleasant. My unit is functioning well and the noise has been mitigated! I would gladly call and ask for Ryan, if and when needed. He may have stalled the need to buy a new unit - at least gave me some time. Kudos, Ryan! Thank you!
