Company Overview

Most people identify us as K&S Heating & Air, however, we are officially known as K&S Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical. When we launched in 1988, our mission was clear: to create a company that guarantees ""One Call Does It All"" for your home comfort needs. Moreover, irrespective of the project, K&S never relies on subcontractors. We take care of everything ourselves from start to finish. This approach ensures unparalleled ease for our clients!

K&S Heating and Air Conditioning began in October 1988 with a small team of 8. Thanks to dedication and the backing of the Rochester community, we have expanded to over 60 employees. In our early years, we rarely ventured beyond Rochester, but now, our personnel cover northern Iowa, western Wisconsin, the Twin Cities suburbs, and a large part of south central and southeastern Minnesota.

Our product selection has grown as well. Our business started with conventional heating and cooling products from Lennox and Carrier, but we have since added geothermal, solar, heat pumps, dual fuel, in-floor heating, and hybrid heating options. Additionally, K&S provides indoor air quality assessments and products, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, whole-home air filtration, duct cleaning, as well as radon testing and mitigation services.

We hired them to put in a new bathtub and tub surround, now it's leaking all over the basement. If they come and look at it they are going to charge over $200 even though it was their shotty work. We also hired them to install a bathroom exhaust fan. First when the guy gets out here he tries to beg to get out of the job due to a family emergency then when they install it he cut the hole too big they say they don't repair sheet rock so they won't fix that either. Then on top of all of this, when they did the electrical for the exhaust fan they messed up the wiring so that now I need to have both of the switches on for the outlets to work. I recommend not using them for anything unless you absolutely have too. They are awful at what they do.

On February 17,2020, I paid Mr. Richard McCain for a new furnace and air conditioner. Our old furnace was not working and it was cold outside.

When the crew arrived to remove the old furnace, they did not have the replacement with them. they removed the old furnace and left. Around 3 PM the crew left without turning on the furnace. As the house cooled down, I called Mr. McCain and he sent a service man who noted the crew had left without turning the furnace switch on.

Later that weekend, the furnace went off and Mr. McCain provided us with electric heaters that we used until Monday morning.
The opinion of the service man who came to the house was that the PVC pipe was installed incorrectly and condensation had caused the furnace to go out.

About 14 days later the Heating Inspector told me that the furnace was installed incorrectly. It seems to me that inspection of new furnace installations should be made sooner after installation. He never returned to reinspect the installation after K&S changed the angle of the PVC pipe.
I would like to caution anyone to not employ K&S heating for furnace installation.

The crew decided they would return in the spring to install the air conditioner. On May 6, 2020, 3 men arrived to install the air conditioner. I overheard one of the men say he had been hired that morning. They completed the installation around 3 PM that day. On May 7,2020 i noted the temperature in the house was 70degrees, with the thermostat set at 75. I called the service desk and the man who came said the thermostat was set to 62 degrees at night. I did not want that. I also asked them to adjust the out doors part of the air conditioner so that it was level.
Do not hire K&S for furnace or air conditioning installation.

K and s has really gone downhill. I needed new furnace. They had a special offer it was nothing but bait and switch.. Richard the salesman more interested in his commission than what I needed or wanted . Same with hot water heater. He told me they don't have energy efficient hot water heaters unless you want to spend 3,000-5000.00. worst plumber ever, came to my house and first thing asked if I minded if he scratched up my faucet as he had never worked with anything other than Moen. He stood and stared at it. Could not figure it out . We asked him to leave. We got a bill for 325.00 for him to do nothing!!!

Horrible customer service. They showed up late only to tell us to call our gas company and then charged us $100. I called and spoke with the secretary to see if we could be refunded since it was our first time calling them and they just installed a brand new furnace in our home last August which is still under warranty. The secretary said she would refund us and when I called 2 weeks later because we hadn't received our money back the manager informed me he would not be refunding us. Poor communication. Im not impressed with this company.

K&S were assigned by HSA Home Warranty to come do a furnace repair for our home. It was 5:00PM when it quit working we needed service ASAP. At the time of the call the house temp was 63 Degrees and falling. I was informed by a less than charming employee that they were based in Rodchester MN which is more than an hour away that they might be able to schedule me for Monday. When I explained we would probably need heat sooner what with freezing and all a possibility. He explained it was $127 and hour and I would have to get an emergency call approved by the HSA Warranty people and then all him back with a number he could then call and verify the approval before he would conside restoring heat. I thanked him for his compassionate concern for our welfare and proceeded to call HSA again.

I explained that it was getting colder inside and that K&S heating seemed less than interested in coming to our assistance. I woundered why they picked such a vendor so far away. I was told they would call him and approve the service call.

I never heard back from anyone until I called HSA back 6:00 am the Next morning. The temp was now below 50 Degrees and we were exploring options as to where we might go to get warm and prevent freezing to death.

HSA called the vendor with approval to proceed and then called me back saying they were assigning a new Heating contractor to my call and I would here from him within the hour.

We shall see in the mean time. K&S heating should understand the nature of their business is to heat homes. the very nature of the call demanded an emergency call. They saw no issue or necessity to respond for two full days.

Our current situation was of no interest to them and they could care less. They told me to chase down HSA and then call them back with a number to authorize the service call. They have the service request already and understood the ramification of no heat and yet choose to blow off their professional responsibility to respond to such a dire situation.

SO I am calling to you out K&S get your name off their vendor list since you are not unwilling to provide service in the given area you agreed too. You left us hanging all night with out heat not so much as a call or email explaining that no service would be coming.

Your attitude was one of you are on your own, we will offer no assistance helping you resolve this issue. My recommendation if you have any other option including do it your self you would be no worse off than not calling them because I can see no difference in service if you do or don't call them. HSA vet you damn vendor list better!

Very Disappointed. Had to call for repair as our furnace was not heating. They fixed by replacing parts - but added over 200% mark up to the cost of the parts. Seems excessive. After repair, we still had issues where our blower would not shut off - even thought the thermostat was set to ""Auto."" Call them back and was told someone would get back to me the next day. That was almost 3 weeks ago and still waiting. I ended up calling someone else to fix the issue.

Couldn't fix my hot water heater. 2 visits. One of the guys told me I could just google it and fix it myself. Charged 240 bucks for not fixing the problem. Got someone else. Wouldn't trust them to fill a kiddie. Got another bill for 340. Must of read the review. Just wondering if I keep on letting people know that you guys charge for not providing a service will I continue to get a increased bill each week?

I have had fantastic dealings with K&S in the past, always dealing with Brian Kuehn, so in April, I called to get an estimate for a whole house dehumidifier. I'm not sure who I talked to, but the appointment was set up for 4:00 that afternoon with Richard. Richard evidently called my house shortly after noon from him cell phone, but didn't leave a message. About 3 hours later, he called back and DID leave a message saying he was running ahead of schedule. Since I now had his cell number, I called him back.

During our conversation I said he could come over at that time, he then stated he really didn't need to come out to my house to do the estimate. He asked me what the square footage on my house was, so I gave him that information. He said he would work up the estimate and call me back. Unfortunately, he didn't call me back.

I originally waited over a week for the estimate and decided to call K&S again. I explained the situation to the receptionist and she said she would contact Richard about where the estimate was. According to him, he had mailed the estimate, but couldn't remember when. He commented that it could take 5 days or more for it to go from their location in Rochester, through the postal service to Minneapolis and then to my residence in Saint Charles.

It is now the end of May, and I still haven't received the estimate! I can't believe that one of their employees WOULDN'T take the time to contact me to make sure I had received the estimate. Lord only know WHERE he mailed it to, but it sure wasn't to me!!
