Company Overview

Many individuals recognize us as K&S Heating & Air, but our full name is K&S Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical. Upon our establishment in 1988, our mission was clear: to establish a business that could assure ""One Call Does It All"" for your comfort at home. Additionally, regardless of the job, K&S never relies on subcontractors. Our team handles all tasks from start to finish. This approach ensures unparalleled ease for our clients!

K&S Heating and Air Conditioning opened its doors in October 1988 with only 8 staff members. Thanks to dedication and the backing of the Rochester community, we now employ more than 60 people. In our early years, we rarely ventured beyond Rochester, but now, our personnel cover northern Iowa, western Wisconsin, the Twin Cities suburbs, and a large part of south central and southeastern Minnesota.

Our product selection has grown as well. We established ourselves with standard furnace and air conditioning solutions from Lennox and Carrier, but we now offer geothermal, solar, heat pumps, dual fuel, in-floor heating, and hybrid heating solutions. Furthermore, K&S offers indoor air quality testing and solutions, humidification and dehumidification systems, comprehensive air filtration, duct cleaning, and radon testing and mitigation.

we have loved k&s for years...literally 40 yrs! our latest experience, however, has totally changed that. the work done was very good; the communications was non-existent...even after sending a letter hoping to alleviate our concerns. k&s no more!

AC didn't work two months after install due to faulty part. Incorrectly diagnosed problem twice. Hard to schedule appointments to get the right part--had two no-shows to scheduled appointments and two other arrivals outside of window given from K&S.

Furnace unit leaked water, had to purchase and put in a pump a couple of months after install. Charged extra for that.

When I contacted office lead about all of these issues, I was told they were too busy with other clients. Would not go back to them, would not recommend

Butchers! I've worked in the housing industry with the finest builders for 40+ years. I never once saw a K&S HVAC van on any of them. Now I know why. They have men who are not qualified do do work on residential jobs. These guys are butchers with a boss that will decieve you and lie to you to not take responsibility for the most cobbled up job you will ever see. Leaving you with leaks, malfunctions........ while under warranty and say ""We don't owe you anything""

If I could give 0 stars I would. After purchasing a home with a fairly new, multi zone system furnace, I noticed that one of the dampers wasn't working well. I called K&S and they sent someone out for repair. They replaced one of the three damper motors on the damper system and charged $600 for this. ($400 for the part, 200 for labor). Just for giggles I looked up the part in question and discovered it had a retail price of less than $100. I called to complain and was initially told that that was just what the part cost, then when I complained more and asked to speak to a manager, I was told that a mistake had been made, and I was charged for the wrong part. A new price of $250 for the part was offered, and though it was still more than twice the published retail price from Honeywell, I agreed to pay. In the interim the damper system still wasn't working properly, so I requested a service call to address that. At that appointment I was told that I had a coolant leak, and though my unit was under warranty from K&S I would still need to pay labor of $450. In the interest of full transparency, I was not speedy in paying the adjusted invoice, but I did pay it. Though I had misgivings, I agreed to have the condenser replaced, as K&S was the original installer and responsible for the part. On the specific date of install I was awakened at 715 AM (Scheduled appointment between 8-12) by someone pounding on the door and informing me that if I didin't pay the full labor charge first, they wouldn't install the warrantied part. I paid the amount, and the technician replaced the condenser, meanwhile leaving a mess in my utility room, a vent off of the furnace, and not resealing the unit where he had opened it, resulting in cold air pouring out of the furnace rather than going through the house. When I asked about the still unresolved damper issue, he told me that a different technician would be out to complete the job. The next morning, K&S called to schedule that appointment and told me that i would have to pay a service charge for them to come out and look at the problem that they initially were supposed to be working on. Needless to say, I won't be doing that. K&S's behavior and lack of consistency in workmanship bears mention. At no time has anyone from their organization reached out for anything, except to demand payment for a job that is still incomplete. To be fair, this company does a decent job of marketing their brand, but their execution in my case was terrible. I believe that they are a cheaper alternative than some other options here in town, but I'm reminded of the old saying, ""You get what you pay for."" Except that in this case, I'm still waiting.......

Save yourself some frustration and pick another vendor.

Good:
They have a very helpful receptionist!!!
that is it.

Bad:
Two weeks I was chasing them to set up appointment.
Sales rep showed up almost an hour too late.
After a week of silence, I contacted them and received a quote for just a small part of the project.
Never received a full quote not info for the project.

I do NOT RECOMMEND this company for your service.

Our furnace went out they sent out a tech ( very nice guy) we were charged ""after hours"" price of $148.50. Was not able to repair and they didn't have the part. Received call from them with an estimate was told it would be 187.50, this is more then the after hours cost. Called them to see why and was to.d that we were given a deal ( this was not the case when I first called told after hours is 148.50 and during business hours $140.00 of course they tried to back peddle and the girl told me "" it is $156.00 for our truck to pull in your driveway and $148.00 per hour for labor but the tech did not charge us. Look around because I have talked to 3 different people at this place and have been given 3 different responses. They charge differently to fit their agenda

Had two techs come out to look at some electrical work and see if they could give us a quote. It was going to be a big job and probably make them quite a bit of money. I didn't get a call with a quote from them for over a month, so I called and checked in. They told me the head electrician would call me within the week. A month after that call...still nothing. Called a second time and they said they have no recollection of techs being out at our house or my first phone call. Horrendous customer service and I would avoid them at all costs.

We had a new Lennox furnace installed 8 years ago by K & S. At first, service and maintenance was good. The past few years, not so good. After each yearly maintenance tune-up the furnace blower was very loud and someone had to come fix it. One year, the tech forgot to turn the furnace back on. The past 2 years, the maintenance techs have been telling us the Honeywell 3000 series air filter we buy at Fleet Farm is good but this year, Dan, the service tech said it could damage the furnace because it restricts the air flow so much. He said he needs to do some more education with the maintenance techs. He then told me that K & S filters were cheaper than the ones we buy at Fleet Farm (wrong). I had to bring out our old invoices to show the prices we were charged by K & S. When I told him the thermostat won't stay at the programmed lower setting at night (65 degrees), he told me he had never seen that happen before. I don't think he believed me. Last night I took a picture of the thermostat turning on at 2:22AM. Guess I should send it to him to prove my point. They charged us $99 for fixing nothing; said nothing is wrong. When my husband called this morning to complain about the charge and Dan's attitude towards me, the woman hung up on my husband. When I requested a work invoice sent to my email, Dan said he would do that. No invoice received as yet. We are no longer giving K & S our business. They are getting lazy. There are other businesses in Rochester.

Half a star only because they showed up and looked at my stuff. A month later and still no estimate. Basically all these types of businesses have too much work. They just don't need more money. They want big jobs only. I'll do my own electric, it's not like it takes SKILL. SO if everybody stops using them, they'll need money again and might just be a bit more accommodating. BOYCOTT THIS BUSINESS. Make them hungry!!!

Stay away from this company! After 3 visits to our house in the last 6 months (and $700 in fees) we're still sitting here in the cold with snow flying and a furnace that doesn't work. And the tech they last sent out this last time was a young guy with very little experience.
