Juan Rivas was recommended to us by Sherman McKay of McKay Irrigation in Berkeley, California.

To precursor this review, we must disclose that our house was built in 1922 and that most of the plumbing is the original galvanized steel. And getting corroded. Not much fun to work with, I am certain.

We called Juan on a Tuesday morning. He answered the phone immediately and we discussed the job(s) we needed to address. Juan put us in his schedule and came out that very evening to look at our situation and he gave us a quote right up front.

His price was fair so we accepted. He was able to start work the next day at lunchtime - pending another morning job.

Juan showed up the next day about noontime with his assistant Edwardo and they set to work running new water lines under our house, as well as running a line into our yard. This included breaking up cement and digging a trench. The pipe and connector(s) installation was clean and very professional.

The second day, Juan and Edwardo set about replacing our water main coming into the house from the meter at the curb. They had to dig up a lawn with a sprinkler system, tunnel under the sidewalk, and tunnel under a path to get to the house water main entry point. Again, lots of hard work.

This work started just after 8AM and both Juan and Edwardo worked diligently until 4PM.
They did run into an issue where a tree root completely grew around part of the water main just after the meter. They eventually maneuvered the pipe out of the grasp of the tree and made way for the new pipe. It was a lot of hard work.

Both Juan and Edwardo are down to earth and very pleasant. No sales pitches, no dodging questions. They did everything just as they said they would. They kept everything very neat and clean as they worked. They put out plastic for the extra dirt when channeling the lawn so the surrounding lawn wouldn't be destroyed. They are great people and we sincerely appreciate their integrity, thoughtfulness, and hard work. All of the finished piping is nice and cleanly soldered. Wonderful work. One of the very rare stellar experiences we have had with contractors. And we will definitely have them come out for all of our future plumbing work.
