I launched JSP Plumbing and Heating in 2006 and have flourished through customer referrals. I prioritize my customers and strive to create lasting connections with them.

Plumbing, heating, and air conditioning involve a complex array of information. We help homeowners stay informed about recent developments, allowing them to choose wisely for their homes and families. New technologies have improved the energy efficiency and performance of plumbing, heating, and A/C systems: radiant heating is more advanced, mini-split systems can heat whole homes, water systems can filter out contaminants, and geothermal systems can manage heating and cooling.

The path to establishing my plumbing and heating company was winding and had its share of surprises. I studied music at SUNY Purchase and began my professional music career in 1993. During my twenties, I performed with Varnaline alongside my brother and good friend Jud Ehrbar, who was in the band SpaceNeedle. We were active in the alternative country scene, performing as opening acts for bands like Son Volt, Bob Mould, and Sparklehorse. We performed on the third stage of Lollapalooza in 1996 and traveled across the U.S. and Europe on tour. Following my experience with Varnaline, I made a seamless transition into the plumbing field.

July 2022 - STAY AWAY FROM JSP SERVICES !! I had a washer drain back up in the utility room. I hired JSP Home Services to take a look at it. The house has a Cesspool. Plumber they sent there called to tell me there was no drain clean out access to the main drain. This proved to be untrue. It was there attached as clear as day. He told me he had to open the main drain on the floor to snake the clog. I did not hear from him for more then an hour. He then called to tell me that he had to open the main line in the back unfinished room to see if he could snake it... but then realized it was not in use and there was in fact a clean out on the wall attached in the front utility room. Breaking into an unused main line for no reason was a huge error. It was installed in the event that I added another bathroom or apartment in the bottom floor. It was in an unfinished room not winterized. He did this without telling me. Then JSP told me that there were two drain lines. The one dry well to the washer was snaked through the trap and it went right through. This should have been the start and finish of the job. It was not. The guy continued to tell me I should funnel all the lines into the back main line through the wall so the washer doesn't continue to get clogged. It was the first time it happened in 7 years. He said he had to put cameras down the pipes. I asked him how much for the snake but he refused to answer and give a quote. Said he had to see after he finished the job and hung up. The job was finished when the line was clear. I did not hear from him for 3.5 hours. My tenant said he was sitting in his truck and told him he was waiting for a guy to bring a camera. The plumber did not answer my calls for 3 hours. At 3:45pm, he called and said I did not hear from him because they had trouble getting the cameras down the two lines. All of this was unnecessary hog wash. He then told me the final charge was $1,580,42 !! I was livid. I waited for my tenant to send pictures of the damage on the main line in the back and the trap in the laundry room. I then confronted the JSP on their overcharges and damaged pipe. When the supervisor called back after 4 business days, he told me the snake charge was $595.00 !!! even though it went right through. He also told me they are only willing to split the charge with me after I said I would report fraud to my credit card company. The remainder was for the other unnecessary work plus tax. They then took 5 days to return $790.00. This was admitting they were ripping me off from the start. The plumber was incompetent and his supervisor said he was just doing ""DUE DILIGENCE"". BS - The guy was fishing for more money and did not call me. He told me he was going to quote me on putting all the pipes into the unused main line in the back... why ?? I asked, the room isn't winterized! He was fixing things that were not broken. JSP didn't send me an invoice. I had to ask for an itemized bill. They said we don't give an itemized bill! The bill they sent was a written story by the incompetent plumber about all the unnecessary work he did. At the bottom of the bill was a legal disclaimer on how they are not responsible for any damages and you are going to pay for their legal fees. They have a 2.5 Star Rating. I wish I had known. They Should have a No Star Rating. BUYER BEWARE.

Simple plumbing leak from a defective part they previously installed. Very nice on the phone and in person but 2 on-site visits and 10 days later it still isn't fixed. It's one thing to charge top dollar, it's another thing to make appointments and promises you can't keep. I would not recommend them and will never use them again. Buyer beware.

The plumber was super nice and courteous, but the pricing is outlandish. They charged us $450 for a simple sink trap replacement. You owe them as soon as they step in the door, so once you have the quote you're already in the hole and they seem to know that they more or less have you hostage. The new drain stopper that came with it is clearly the cheapest model and it broke and was non functional by day 2. With such high prices I'd at least expect higher quality parts. While prompt and readily available, I'd rather go with someone else who takes longer to show up but who won't charge an arm and a leg for a simple repair. Wouldn't recommend if you're not trying to spend a small fortune.

WAY not worth the money. They charge literally double the standard prices for comparable work and no-show more times than not. When you call they say people called in sick and they have to cancel. They refuse to quote the job in a simpler way, because all they're interested in is ripping people off. Terrible customer service and all around terrible experience.

Do not hire JSP until you've gotten quotes from other companies! The prices I got from JSP were literally 10x what another company charged for the same work. That is not an exaggeration. Literally 10x.

Their techs are nice, helpful, and very knowledgeable. But their prices are unconscionable. I've really never seen anything like it.

Horrible job, shotty work, had to have fixed by another company after being jirked back and fourth with appointments and trying to charge again for their already 'finished job which clearly was their error anyway. Would not reccomend to anyone who does not want to hassle or take continuous days off for a failed service.

Joined their membership program, which costs a few hundred dollars a year. It still took a week to get an appointment to fix a broken sink. The day of the appointment I called in the AM to confirm. They said sure sometime later today! An hour later they called to cancel. I called back to reschedule and got put on hold til the call dropped. Don't spend the money on the membership program. Just find another plumber, in fact.

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY!
My husband and I had a horrible experience with them when they replaced our boiler. It was a RIDICULOUS rate but we felt backed in a corner because it was literally 3 degrees outside and we had no heat. Then it took them OVER A MONTH to actually get the boiler working properly and we STILL have a thermostat that is not the right thermostat even though it's been months now.

They tried to ""right their mistakes"" by extending the customer service warranty saying we are at the top of the list and don't have to pay for service calls. Recently after the big rainstorm in the area, we had a leak and called them. It took an hour to hear back and even though we had the promise of free service calls, they charged $450 because it was ""outside of business hours"" which is something that was never made clear to us.

They then misdiagnosed the issue by saying our water main had broken and said it would cost $11,000 dollars to fix which would include excavating up our backyard. With water pouring into our basement, we felt panicky and paid the $5,000 deposit on the spot at 11pm at night. (By the way, I've since learned that it is NYS law that a contractor can only take 1/3 the entire rate as a deposit.) The next day, after a long night of replacing towels and using the shop vac to control the water, the leak had stopped and we had two different second opinions who told us it was a leak in the foundation that simply needed to be fortified.

There was never a water main break, and we didn't need to spend thousands of dollars to fix this issue OR have our yard ripped up. (Thank you to the two contractors who gave us honest second opinions!) In fact, the leak cost $250 to fix.

Getting the refund of the deposit was another run-around that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

They are a company that is not to be trusted. They will literally lie to cheat you out of money at your most desperate moment.
Stay. Away.

Most of the time we are happy with JSP; so happy that we have purchased the VIP program. But what happened last week was just too much.

We wren's getting enough heat in the house for these terribly cold days. Also, when we lost power, we had no back-up for our wall-mounted heating and cooling units, which, of course, are powered by electricity.

When we had these units installed I had turned off the gas to our boiler, not wanting to risk a dead pilot light.

Now I realized that I did need to turn the gas on again. While we were at it, I thought we might as well have the whole furnace system checked out.

JSP sent a man they called a ""comfort advisor"". He lectured us about the way n which the wall units had been installed. Then he checked out the boiler and told us that the boiler was terribly corroded, and we would need a new one.

He did no work at all.

Then he invoiced us for $450.

His estimate for re-installing the wall units was upwards of $5000, with no details (did this include carpentry? Electrical work?) his estimate for the new boiler was $450-in fact, the same amount as his bill for the service call.

When I wrote them an email questioning this charge (and the confusing estimates), I received no response. When I finally called them and complained on the phone, the receptionist told me she would have the billing department take a look at the bills. Wrong answer; I wanted to speak to the billing department right then and there, or have them call me back within a few hours.

Finally, the receptionist told me that I could have an appointment, but I'd have to wait until 30 minutes before the tech arrived to know when he would arrive! This must be a new rule and it is terribly inconvenient.

I would not advise using JSP now.
