Had a $69 tune up special today for my HVAC system. Richie S. was professional and courteous and really knew his stuff. We bought our house less than 2 years ago and we knew our system was mostly original and while it works great, we wanted to make sure it was in good working order.

Richie showed me that most of the biggest components had recently been replaced and that we should just focus on maintenance and duct cleaning. Great news!

He went over their membership plan but he was not pushy at all. Would highly recommend JR Putman and Richie!

Today I received a service call for my Air Conditioning unit. Robert Flores, my service man was very informative and professional. He was able to address my questions and concerns. I highly recommend JR Putman for all your Air Conditioner/ Heating diagnosis, maintenance and repairs.

*WARNING* Be aware of dishonest technicians out there! We had JR Putnam come out for a diagnostic check and they sent the most dishonest technician ever, Robert Flores!! He told us we were in desperate need of something called a TXV valve, well the long and short of it is we DONT HAVE one of those on our current unit, what a liar. He also told us we didn't have a coolant leak, which we did. JR Putnam might be an otherwise good company with honest, decent technicians but we'll never know (or care). And, of course we will NEVER recommend them to anyone!

I spent 22,000 to put in a new system and duct work. Had problems from the start. Contract wise I did not get what I wanted. When I made objections the sales person said the written contract really did not mean what he wrote. Next came all the young men with little or no experience to the job site. Found the employee training others on how to turn on a machine. Next came the install problems. Took 5 guys 8 hours to find all the leaks. When asked if everything was ready to spray in insulation, the workmen said it was ready to go. I'm a 65 yr old woman and I had to take the workman into the attic and show him everything that did not meet code. I wrote a 2 page letter to the owners of putman and got a call from the superior. I let her know that when the city inspector was to come out that I was going to tell him about the code violation that I observed with the install. They sent out a workman to repair the violation. All I can say is I hope you know a lot about installing an HVAC system, becasue you will need to with this organization.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS COMPANY! They are a nightmare to deal with. And, should have legal action taken against them. In Dec 2014, JR Putnam charged nearly $9000 to install a new HVAC system in the guts of an older unit. The system is in the attic above the kitchen. The system started leaking--water dripping from ceiling (behind wall cabinets) within a year (2015). A technician came out and ""supposedly"" fixed the leak.

Another year went by. In Dec 2016 another leak was detected and more water was dripping from the ceiling, paint bubbled as it separated from the drywall and the cabinets started coming away from the wall. I called to report the leak (in the same spot as last year). They sent out a technician who said that the new HVAC system had been attached to an old PVC pipe condensation line. The technician said when he attempted to fix the leak the PVC pipe splintered in his hands. He said the HVAC should have been installed with a new condensation line. He admitted that this was JR Putnam's install error and said he could repair the pipe but a new condensation line needed to be put in to avoid future leaks.

That was Dec 2016! It took them another month (and they charged the landlord for parts) to put in a new condensation line. The technicians stepped on the ceiling (what is the floor of the attic) and cracked the ceiling in the living room (do to the water damage).

The nightmare began...despite several calls to JR Putnam, it took until March, 7 2017 to get someone out to look at the water damage in the kitchen. They sent a drywall guy (took nearly 3 months to schedule). When he came out he said he couldn't do the job until the cabinets were removed from the kitchen wall. He left. On March 20 I still had not heard anything from him or JR Putnam.

I called angry and got Debbie on the line. She told me I was ""not acting professionally."" I told her it had been 10 days of silence since the drywall guy came out. She said...""it has only been 10 days."" I was astounded by her lack of professionalism.

When they finally sent cabinet guys out on Monday, March 27 a bunch of black mold was exposed once the cabinets were removed from the wall.

That was Monday, March 27!!! It is now May 4. There is still black mold. The cabinets are still off. The gas stove they disconnected to get to the water damaged wall behind it...is still disconnected. I had a mold inspector come out and determine the black mold was toxic and the whole affected area should be remediated. It was suggested that a new kitchen ceiling, a new wall (behind cabinets) and even new cabinets be put in after mold remediation was handled.

No work has been done!!! Jamie and Debbie are nightmares to deal with. JR Putnam passed this whole thing off to their insurance who sent a letter (to my landlord) saying the would pay to have the kitchen restored to its original condition before all of the damage by JR Putnam's poor install.

Jamie and Debbie stopped returning calls to me or my landlord. JR Putnam should be taken to court for their lack of professionalism, lack of work ethic, lack of follow through...and for the fact that they had pictures of the water damage and black mold shown to them but had little regard to take responsibility for getting this taken care of in an immediate manner.

Their poor workmanship caused leaks. Their lack of integrity, ethics and professionalism is why it is May 4 (nearly 5 months since I reported the second leak in Dec 2016) and no work has been done.

If I could post pictures I would. And, to top things off...the AC unit is not working. I turned it on yesterday evening and realized it had been on a few hours without cooling the temperature in the house. The cooking unit outside is not engaging and turning on. What a total and complete nightmare. They probably broke something when they were here in Jan to install the new condensation line.

At this point...I want to call another company to assess the current HVAC system and repair to working order as JR Putnam can't be counted on nor trusted to do a good job.

They have some nice technicians, but poor management skills and complete lack of professional ethics.

Beware!

J R Putman promises you the world, then totally under delivers. We over paid for promises that they never delivered on. Salesman who will boldly lie right to your face and a pathetically, ignorant sales manager who actually called me stupid for getting what they had for sale! Couldn't believe it; surprised they're still in business. There are loads of other reputable Heating and Air companies out there, i would recommend that you find one of those.

Super nice and professional visit from JR Putnam employee Ismael. I purchased a month to plan in which they visit every few months and ensure all is to spec in my new heating and air system. Thoroughly reviewed the system inside and out.

Having several rental homes, I've done business with many of the HVAC contractors in the greater Sacramento and Sierra Foothils area over the years. There are good ones and bad ones. A company is only as good as its people and the person that was assigned to my project, Jeremy, was excellent; knowledgable, helpful, thorough and professional. I will contract with JR Putman again and will ask for Jeremy to perform the work.
