Stay away from these guys. I give them one star simply because they showed up early for the appointment on what was to be one of the hottest days this summer. The tech came to repair my mothers ac unit. As he was inspecting the unit he noticed the drain hose was backed up causing water to drip on several electronic items most likely causing the malfunction. He recommend cleaning the drain at a price of 200 bucks. He also recommended changing the circuit board at 1100 bucks. I agreed to the cleaning but said id wait on anything else. It took 5 minutes for him to clear the drain but still charged 200. Way out of line in my opinion. He again tried to sell me the circuit board and then tried pushing a whole new unit. The more i declined the more he tried to sell. He really pushed a monthly plan which i had no interest in at all. My biggest complaint is he said he was going to do a ""cleaning"" for the 200 and all i got was a cleared drain pipe which is only about 3 feet long. What a ripoff. Stay away from these guys. There techs are trained to sell you stuff you dont need.
We intially had JR Putnam come out to service our A/C. A day or two after they came out we discovered that the Schrader valve was leaking freon, something they caused. They came out 5+ days later and did refill the freon. A day or two later we noticed once again that the unit was not cooling properly and had someone else come out this time who said our compressor was bad, due to the fact that it had been running for almost a week with no freon. I talked to JR Putnam and they said they would send someone out to diagnose the problem. This time we were told it was reversing valve not the compressor and it would be almost $2000 to fix, why not look into replacing the unit? Figured ok let's look at what it would cost to replace the unit and after a 3+ hour sales pitch we were quoted an astronomical price. We declined. We now just had a third company diagnose the unit and it is the compressor. Which is broken because of the lack of freon, which was working fine before JR Putnam caused the freon leak. They have lied and tried to have us spend 20k on a new unit.
Be careful before doing business with this company!
There is no issue with the reversing valve according to two other technicians from 2 different companies! Small leak? Lol it leaked for 3 days. And when I said astronomical we were quoted $18,000 to $ 22,000 for a 1900 sq ft home.

After waiting 24 hours for my home insurance Fidelity National to send me someone to fix my AC,
(Turns out Ecco heating and air wasn't available until Monday to even make an appointment--sayonara Fidelity!), I called several AC companies listed in Angie's list in my area.
While almost every company was pretty busy what with temperatures outdoors of 100+, they all said they would call me back if there was any possibility to squeeze me in on Saturday Within a few hours JR Putnam called and said they could send someone out within a few hours! Amen
(Three other companies on Angie's list also called back and were trying to fit me in - some days people can be so wonderful!)
Anyway, Shortly thereafter Darren arrived, diagnosed the problem quickly, had the needed part, cleaned up everything , explained the need for me to have periodic heat and AC checkups. He was amazing and very professional and I am so grateful to be in my comfortable, cool, and functioning home

I've been a member of their comfort club for several years.
Called in late May to get my bi-annual seasonal tuneup scheduled.
Earliest appointment they had was early August. Wasn't happy about that, but whatever.
Just got called and had my ""seasonal"" tuneup rescheduled to late September.
What in the hell is the point of a ""seasonal"" tune-up if the season is almost over?
Clearly they don't care about doing the preventative maintenance to your system when it's much more profitable for you to suffer a breakdown and pay for it.

Updated just to say that JR Putnam's corporate office spoke with my husband today and offered him $60 to take this review down. I wonder how many people this was successful with, how many reviews have been deleted with bribery?
Dina B.You guys... call JR Putman if you need any help with your HVAC. I bought a random Groupon to have my AC serviced and before they could come out, my AC died (Murphy's law). So I called them back and they sent someone (Chris) the same day. He was so nice and polite and explained everything to me. He even went as far as using my Groupon payment towards the part I needed and I STILL get to have my entire unit serviced later. My air was out for about a week when I learned the part hadn't even arrived yet and we were dying or more like melting. I called and told them we couldn't wait any longer so Chris drove from Placerville to will-call, got my part and installed it on a Saturday. In the meantime we've learned we may need a new unit entirely (we figured this might be the case but bought the 1 part we needed for now before deciding) so JR Putman sent a sales guy out to talk to us about a whole new unit and he wasn't pushy at all. He talked to us for over an hour and never tried to sell us anything. Just educated us and left us his card. When it comes time to drop 15k-20k on a whole new dual unit, we'll go with JR Putman.

J. K.The scheduler called the morning of my appointment for my advertised ""Check-N-Charge"" to let me know the technician (Chris) would be there in 15 minutes. I am very pleased with Chris (technician). He explained that he would be going through a check list and taking critical operating system measurements on my A/C unit. He reported that my system had some things that my need other service soon, but they are still functioning. He added some coolant and was on his way an hour later. It works great! Thanks...
I had Putnam Air send a rep to my house for a assessment and quote on a new heating and air system. I was greeted by Adam who spared no time explaining the ins and outs of different systems, financing, answered all my questions about the systems and workings of the air conditioning systems. He never spoke in a condescending manner, and treated me with the upmost respect.
All of their employee that have been to my home have been terrific people, and Adam is no exception.
I highly recommend this company and their ethics.

I heard the radio ad which where it all started... 2016 I called JR to tune up my AC & heater system because I was selling my condo. Also needed my garbage disposal replaced, I had purchased the part at Lowe's. Called for a quote for a one day appointment to do my AC & heater tune up plus garbage disposal. I was quoted $75.00 for the garbage disposal and don't remember the AC & heater price. My appointment day came and the AC & heater guys were professional and explained everything in detail. A hour passed and the plumber arrived not in uniform (white t-shirt only) no company logo. He proceeded to tell me that the cost for labor had gone up and my telephone quote was wrong. Now the price was $160.00; needing to sell my condo I just paid it. Strike one.
Last week decided to give JR another try for a whole house fan. I called and made a appointment for a sales person to visit my house. Arriving a few minutes late he took the time to explain my options, price, and fan choices. He even went up in my attic to inspect for proper venting. Very happy with the no pressure salesman he said he would email me prices. I thought ""great I'm going to go with JR."" No email, no call , no nothing.
Strike two.
I reached out to a competitor decided to do business with them. Added on a duel zone AC unit above and beyond my whole house fan. We are spending more and are happy because the competition is on top of their game. I will never do business or refer JR to anyone. Go somewhere else.
