Requested an itemized invoice for the $500 I gave him. Two weeks went by and his excuse was the rain. He put in two circuit breakers and two plugs and charged me $500. My itemized invoice said ""parts and labor"" That is not an itemized invoice. His worker only spoke Spanish and I don't speak or understand it. Work not completed. I will never hire him again, nor will I recommend him to anyone.

I hired him to install two fascia boards for my house. The installation was fine. But after he pained the wood, the paint started to peel off after a couple of months. He does not respond to my texts. I would not recommend hiring him. The home is located in the Hollywood Riviera.

Found this guy (Jose @ JP Handyman Service) in the Beach Reporter. Should have checked his reviews on Yelp before I hired him to perform a simple task of cleaning & hauling debris from the yard of a rental unit. DO NOT HIRE this
guy under any circumstance, he's a fast~talking aggressive know-it-all that tells you what you want to hear and then is unable to deliver on the agreement you have with him. He did a poor job of cleaning the yard in the first place and then only hauled half the trash. When I called him on his short coming, he tells me that for $ 100.oo he'll come back and pick up the remainder of the trash. In arguing with him he tells me; we don't have anything in writing ! He then offered to come back and pick up the rest of the trash for $ 60.oo Stay as far away from this guy as you can, tell all your friends & relatives about him. This guy should not be permitted to do any type of business in the South Bay, or for that fact, ANYWHERE !!!

I had written a review that I eventually took down after he finished the work. But it's not much different than the other reviews on here so I'll skip.

This guy is actually texting me and harassing me to take the pics down that I have on here of the sloppy work and no care for me living here while my landlord hired him to do the work.

He's telling me ""I'm playing with fire"" continuously calling me a ""Bebe"" and showing up to my house unannounced and leaving things on my porch.

I'm over this guy.

Just in case he goes to darker measures I wanted to write this review as a note where to start looking if I go missing.

Very disappointed with his workmanship, attitude, and pricing. I guess I am joining the chorus of one star reviewers for this outfit. We have a sliding gate for our driveway and part of the track for the gate corroded over time and fell apart and the gate would not move any longer. I saw Jose's van across the street from our house one day and it looked impressive and asked him if he could replace the broken part of the track. He said no problem, and we made a contract to replace the track, and also paint that gate, and another small entry gate. The original track was installed on a strip of cement that was laid expressly to hold the track and also to maintain the level to keep the track straight. But over time, the cement strip also fell apart along with the track. I told him that I need the whole track straight and at the same level. He said it will cost $300 to put a new cement strip so instead mhe will use some bracket to keep the track at the same level. He said he will take the gates to his shop for painting and bring them back in a week. He said it will take him about a week for painting and he will call a day or two before bringing the gates back. But in two days he showed up without notice with the gates still wet with paint. He brought a guy with him to weld the new piece of track to the existing piece. I was curious how he was going to level the track since the cement strip was broken. He just laid the track on the soil and bolted the track to some broken pieces of cement. As a result the new piece of track is sloping down and crooked. I argued with him that it was supposed to be level and straight and he refused to correct his work. I threatened that I would not pay the balance ($400 out of the $900 total cost) and he insulted me saying that he knew I was not going to pay because I did not have the money. After arguing for a few minutes, I relented because it was my fault hiring him without checking his ratings on Yelp and gave him the rest of the money. Right now, the track slopes downwards and crooked. The gate works but not very well. I need to have it corrected by a different contractor because I don't think the gate is fastened properly and it may come loose after a few months. I do not recommend this business.

Disappointing experience! Still regretting having hired him for a fence repair and gate install! Did not honor the timeline, added charges, and no workmanship guarantee... will come back to repair his job but only for an additional fee!

DO NOT HIRE HIM. Guarantee he will not finish the work and all he wants is money. He promises good work when he is done but its far from it. I asked him when he was going to finish since this work was suppose to be a 2 week project well a month went by and still not done. Only minor things needs to be done but now he wants the final payment without even finishing the project. I texted him and he called back he said I told your husband to send me the money and I will send someone. So in order to send someone to finish we needed to pay him in full. Don't trust him find someone else.

I pulled the phone number for this ""handyman"" from The Daily Breeze advertising, thinking that it would only be there if JP Handyman performed good work. Boy was I wrong!

All I wanted was a chandelier to be added to my dining room ceiling with the wires hidden and run to an existing wall switch box. He said he could easily do the job, so I hired him. He demanded $500 for the job up front and in cash, which I unfortunately paid. He immediately began cutting an off-center and over-sized hole in the ceiling to accommodate a support bar that was half the size of the hole. Then he cut over-sized pieces from the ceiling and wall for the wire. He made large holes all the way down to a plug for power, even though there was power at the existing wall switch box. When asked about the mess he was making in the ceiling and wall, he became angry and arrogant and told me to leave my own house! I then fired him on the spot but he refused to return my money and left.

Even though it cost me the $500, it was one of the best decisions I ever made because a real electrician that I hired said that the wire connections made by JP Handyman in the wall were not to code and a real fire hazard. Also, his wiring at the plug was wrong because the plug power was being controlled by a separate switch. To do the job correctly by the electrician and to have the wall and ceiling repaired cost me an additional $750!

JP Handyman deserves the lowest rating possible. I would give him zero stars if I could. He does know what he is doing. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY! IF You Do, You Will Absolutely Regret It!

Whatever you do DO NOT hire this guy. He takes no pride in his work. You will end up with work that will need to be redone. I thought I'd give him a try, and it was the worst decision I've made. I should've known better looking at all the reviews.

We really dropped the ball on this one by not reading these reviews of this JP guy, because I wont even give him the respect to call him and his hired off the street incompetent workers handymen. We found out the hard way that every negative review about this guy is VERY TRUE after the fact.
He sure knows how to request payment but barely shows up to complete the job as promised, his work ethic is horrible, his attitude is stick up the butt-ish and rude, this guy has brand new walls feeling like speed bumps, electrical outlets not working and even lost parts to fixtures that they removed to do the job. After all this he has the audacity to request full payment with everything unfinished.

I had to find a real business to fix and finish the work that suppose to be brand new....so if you have called him to meet you for quotes, when he shows up I advise you to show him the exit because beware that we told you so.

Yelp needs to add negative stars!!
