Recommended Customer Reviews

Beware!!! Joe Davidson does not own this company anymore and he sold it to some unethical people. They are using his client list to rip people off. They do not charge by the hour anymore, only flat fees and the fees are high. They do not tell you this, no quote was ever given. To top it all off, they didn't fix anything . One day later everything was back to where it was and the only thing different was a $1000 bill I need to pay. Once they get your money, you will never hear from them again. No calls were returned. Also, Joe's contractor license is expired. I can not find any evidence that these con artists have a contractor's license. Do not use them.

I had used this company before, always for some kind of emergency. They have the emergency contract for many of the Condo Homeowner Associations in the Marina. They had been very responsive, and fair priced. In fact, Joe Davidson (the owner) had given advice on cheaper alternatives.
Unfortunately, things have changed. Joe doesn't own the company or work there, but they will NOT tell you that. I am still not sure who actually runs things there, but it is very difficult if you need to find someone in charge.
So on mid-day on a Saturday, my drains back up, and the toilet almost overflowed. This had happened before which required a lot of cleaning by the plumber's snake. There was a live person answering, and they actually sent someone out quickly (great!). He checked, and showed me that the main 5"" pipe to the sever was 95% blocked. And that all of the drain lines were in this condition, and the charge woud be around...
*****SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS***
Since I had really no choice, I authorized it. He went off to get supplies, and returned with two more men. They worked for 4 hours. And did a great job. But the price estimate went up to $9500. Which I had to pay in full as soon as the work was done.
Now, I am not a plumber. It was an emergency. On a Saturday. They came out and did a lot of work. But I am pretty sure the price should have been half.
I left 4 messages for Joe to call me to discuss the bill. On the 4th call, after they ignored the first 3, they told me that there was no Joe, that the business was under new management. They finally found a manager...I explained that I thought the price was outrageous, and yes I agreed because I had no choice. They gave me a 8% price break.
Summary: Service 5 stars; Customer service 2.5 stars; Price 2 stars

This company is a shell of its former self.
I arranged for a plumber to work on gas line for fireplace. Was told 8-10am. At 9:50 was called and told 11:30. I said this was unacceptable as I have a 9month old and we had an appointment at 12. So they said 2. At 3:30pm I called them and was told 5pm. In essence keeping me locked in with the baby all day. On arrival plumber says he doesn't have all the necessary parts to fix it so he will return at 8am next morning. At 945 am next day I call them. They tell me 10:30. He comes. Starts work. Says - it needs more work then I thought. I have to pick up more parts. I'll be back within an hour. 3 hours later I call them again. He is another 45 mins. Finally returns and fixes the fireplace... Well so I thought. Was changing baby when he finished. He says it's all working now. I pay a fortune. After he's gone I go to turn fireplace on. It doesn't work!!!
It is now next morning and I have called and complained. I called before 9am. I was told they'd call me back. Over an hour waiting again and so far no call.
I fully understand timing windows with tradesman can change and you need a little flexibility but I have now been locked away 3 days, paid a lot of money, and still have an inoperable fireplace.
Go elsewhere.

Joe has sold the company recently. We used Joe for our plumbing needs for many years. He and his crew were always professional, punctual, and tidy. The new company sent some guy out who needed to wait for another plumber, but then left and we were told someone would be there in 30 to 60 minutes. It was almost 2 hours. The other guy used bs tactics to up sell other services and left a mess and didn't replace the cap. I'm not certain he actually cleaned all the roots out. This is the type of service that made us change to Joe.

Agree with Lily M. and they are way too expensive. Make sure you track the time they arrive and leave your place cause you're being charged.

Honestly, I've been a little on the fence about this company and so held off writing this review. I've never found their work to be anything but good quality and their customer service to be excellent. I think I've been a little put off by the fact that if a plumbing job requires anything substantial, the water to the whole building has to be shut down and then we have no choice but to use this company-- HOA rule instituted (for good reason) after another company totally screwed the pooch and caused major headache & expense. Just the lack of choice in the matter made me feel uncomfortable and worried I was getting price-gouged, even though I had no evidence that was the case.
Today, I had a problem which I didn't have the expertise to handle, but Joe instantly diagnosed over the phone. Rather than charge me $125 to send someone out and work for 2 minutes on it, he simply talked me through it right then and there. Problem solved. Wouldn't have been able to do it myself, and he could EASILY have taken my money to do it. I wouldn't have been any wiser nor would I have begrudged him the fee. Instead he saved me the money, taught me an actual (minor) skill, and earned this five-star review.

I broke the shut-off valve under my sink resulting in an unstoppable gusher of hot water shooting onto my counter and floors. Mike from Joseph Davidson plumbing made an emergency call late at night. Normally, to replace the shut-off valve, I would have to shut the water off to my entire building, which would have been extremely expensive. So to save me money, MIKE REPLACED THE SHUT-OFF VALVE ON AN ACTIVE HOT WATER PIPE WHILE SCALDING WATER SPEWED ALL OVER HIM. I can still recall his yells of pain while he did that. That guy was a hero.
And to top it all off, Mike then reconstructed a working faucet mechanism using the working parts from the two defective faucet mechanisms that I had. That guy saved me so much money (at the expense of his skin) when it would have been much easier and lucrative for him to clamp the pipe and fix it later.
For Mike's heroics, Joseph Davidson Plumbing is my plumber for life.

I have no choice but to use this company because they're the only ones allowed to shut off the water in my building.
I have tenants moving in and I wanted to replace the tub fixtures as they were looking old, even though they didn't need replacing.
Four plus hours and over $500 later, I now have half the water pressure I had before (apparently that's the case with newer fixtures) and a shower arm valve that is hanging off the shower arm like a necklace instead of being flush to the wall.
When I called today to question these issues, I got the explanation about newer models, I guess there's nothing I or the plumber can do about manufacturers making decisions for their customers to be more energy efficient.
But as far as the shower arm valve, which should have been taken care of yesterday, I just got the old, ""you should have inspected the job yesterday"" line. I did inspect the job. That thing was against the wall, but it was just for that moment because now I can't get it to stay against the wall for five seconds.
Davidson's solution: for me to come down to their store and buy a new part to keep that one where it's supposed to be. Shouldn't they have given me this option yesterday when they were already here?
I should mention they added a drywall job to my list of things to do. They had to take out part of my wall behind the tub to replace the faucet and weren't able to put it back. They warned me this might happen, but it's so much worse than what they warned me it might be.
I'm still hyperventilating from the exorbitant bill and now I'm fuming because the job is essentially incomplete--and there's a hole in my wall.
On a positive note, the work area is left as clean as possible.

I learned about this company from my downstairs neighbor, who had used them to clear his clogged pipes. Very quick service, on time for the appointment, done in less than an hour, spotless work area, and clean, flowing pipes. I would recommend this company any time.

An honest plumber, who will not upsell you and is prompt and professional is hard to come by. This is by far the best plumbing company I have ever dealt with. His plumber performed four significant jobs within the one hour minimum, which would have taken many plumbers at least twice as long on multiple jobs.
