I have used John's many times and most recently, when I moved and had a lot of new projects. Daylen and Thomas came and were wonderful each visit. They are incredibly professional, kind and knowledgable. The office staff is always helpful and courteous. I would recommend these guys over and over again!

I have used John's Plumbing for years. I rarely write reviews but felt the need to do so when I saw they had only one star on Yelp. I guess only complainers take the time to write a review, but I have never had anything but positive results from John's. Their plumbers are courteous, professional and efficient. They fixed problems for me that other companies couldn't figure out. No, they didn't ask or pay me to write a glowing review. I did it because I hate to see a great company trashed on social media. You won't be sorry if you try them.

I was having problems with my sink and washing machine drains backing up. I called John's plumbing on the recommendation if several friends. I was able to get an appointment very quickly. The plumber came and cleaned out the drains; however, within about two weeks, they were backing up again. I called the office and the same plumber came. He said that the problem was that the pipes were old. Despite new pipes (and spending more money than I care to admit), the drains were still backing up, even before he left. I called the office and left a message requesting that the owner contact me so we could figure out how to resolve the situation; however, I never heard from him. The original plumber called me back. His suggestion was to go through the sheetrock in order to replace the washing machine p valve. He was very dismissive of my concerns and questions. At that point, I no longer had confidence in John's plumbing. I hired another company that correctly identified the problem as obstruction due to tree roots. they fixed the problem within a couple of hours.

The experience with John's Plumbing Company was costly and the work was poorly done and leaking. When I advised them the work was leaking and water was running into the den, they would not come back to fix the leak. I had to fix the leak, myself. Additionally, they uninstalled our clothes dryer and installed a water heater that was too large, preventing the reinstallation of the dryer. The installer then went upstairs and collected payment in full from a ninety-four-year-old man who cannot walk and a ninety-year-old lady who is blind and made no mention of the leak or the condition of the clothes dryer. The Details: On August 15, 2012, I called John's Plumbing Company of Birmingham, Alabama, near Trussville to replace a failed water. When we complained the next day about the dryer being uninstalled, Jerry, the installer, and Kenny, the owner of John's Plumbing Company, both told us they don't make eighteen-inch-diameter water heaters any more (which would be required to fit the dryer back in place). I knew this was not true as I had already purchased one at Lowe's AND had found them available at the first six plumbing supply companies I called from the Yellow Pages. Having been lied to by the installer and the owner of John's Plumbing, I was in not going to trust them inside the house again. I hired another company WITH integrity the job over and for $428 less. If you'll do a Google search for WARNING JOHN'S PLUMBING, you'll find a web page I set up complete with pictures.

I recently had John's Plumbing to come out and evaluate the installation of a gas line for a new gas range. Please take my advice and run! They charge a service fee to come out, so whether you use them or not, they get something out of the deal for their time. Nonetheless, here's the story. We (my family) were in the process of converting from an electric range to a gas one and needed the gas line to be installed. We were given several recommendations by Alagasco and this company was one of them. The guys came out and boy did they blow my mind (as well as my husband). The techs walked ALL over the house, which was unnecessary...because our house is built on a cement block, so any area they needed to get to would've been upstairs in our easy accessible room in the attic. That's where the gas lines and everything else that heats and cools the house resides (aside from the hot water tank, which was in the garage...oh! they went in there too). They stated that they would have to tear down the WALL and the shelves in our walk-in closet would have to be removed and that it was going to cost around $985 to install (a gas line now...sitting behind the wall of a walk-in closet...which there is no gas line), because they wasn't sure whether or not the access to the stove was blocked. The guy stated...""""you know once the sheet rock goes up...you don't know if it's blocked or not"""". Well we (my husband and I) knew it was not blocked, because we built the house new 4 years ago and was well aware of what needed to be done (we just couldn't run the gas line ourselves)...plus we knew there was no blockage behind the closet sheet rocked wall. The tech's were really a big JOKE, they were rude and disrespectful to me and my husband (especially my husband). They either didn't know what they were doing or their bias opinion got in the way of business and GREED took over! Plus the zip code may have been a factor too...oh and since they had to go in EVERY DAW GONE room in the house...that was a tell, tell sign that they were already prepared to price gouge us and thought we were stupid enough to FALL for it. If you need a gas line put in for any reason, let me be the first to tell you that I do not and will not recommend this company and ALAGASCO should remove them from their list of recommended companies. Just saying!

I am surprised that Yelp only shows 2 bad reviews for John's Plumbing. If you click on the link that goes to other reviews, you will see some positive reviews. I found John's Plumbing after having 2 other plumbing companies try to unclog our sewer line that was causing our toilets to back up. The John's tech snaked the line all the way to the street and then ran a camera through the line. He found that one of the connections in the main line was a little crooked (probably from settling) causing a small hump where tissue and waste were getting caught. Most likely, the other companies didn't run the snake far enough or didn't get the line completely clean so it kept backing up. It has been over one year and we have not had any problems since. I am leaving a few other reviews for John's for additional visits to our home and our rental property.

Decent work and good technicians. Very high prices set up to take money from you once you are over the barrel. Thank you for fixing my problem, but the experience could have been much better.

I recently used John's Plumbing to come out to fix a shower knob, as well as a toilet that would not fill up quickly. They were at my house for about 15 minutes total. They fixed the toilet. They """"fixed the shower"""", but the technician said that he would not guarantee his work on the shower because I needed to replace a valve which would have cost me over $500. So for $244 I got a shower that continuously runs even when the knob is turned to off. Nice work! Exorbitant prices. I'll keep looking! Perhaps I should have had my husband FIX what John's Plumbing couldn't REPAIR. Avoid this company at all costs! Oh, and by the way, I called and gave them the opportunity to make this right. They scoffed and said I should've gotten the valve... for $500. Whatever...

Had a leak around the toilet tank bolts. They charged $39 just to come out, then wanted $160 to replace the bolts and fittings! Major ripoff! Do NOT use!

John's plumbing has yet again saved us in a house emergency. Our hot water heater went out and they were at our house within hours to replace the broken unit. The two man crew was very kind and cordial to me and my children. They offered to sweep and clean up the grass that had been tracked through the house during the replacement of our gas water heater. We will always think of them first after several great experiences with this company! I always appreciate a company that I can depend on and trust in my home around me and my children!!
