Had a leakage coming up from my slab in kitchen area called Yerkes Plumbing because some friends of mine said they used them in the past and were pleased. Have to listen to my friends more often. Tony the plumber came out rerouted my hot and cold lines to over head also rerouted lines going to our washer. My Wife and I were so relieved when Tony completed the job and was very courteous which made us at ease. Thankyou Tony we will be using your company in the future.

A bit late in writing this...but just had to express our thanks to Mike and Matt for last October's rescue. They came out, did their search, and worked with the city inspector who was made to realize, by these young men, that the broken pipe WAS on city property and the City needed to repair this broken main on its dime. The price quoted for the work done by the Yerkes family was a couple of hundred dollars less than that quoted by other companies we called. We took a chance and were quite pleased with their work and professionalism.

To say we are thankful customers is the understatement of the century!! After a brutal cold snap, we found a lake at the end of our driveway. The city said there was a break in the water main and that it was entirely our responsibility. We began the challenge of getting estimates which ranged in the thousands and involved massive destruction of yard and landscape. Dan from Yerkes came out to give us an estimate. He said that there was a better than 50% chance that the leak was coming from the buffalo box as the valves in the box are the weakest points of the system. He said that the city should come out to replace the box,
and if the leak was not coming from the box, then he would give us an estimate. He offered to talk to the alderman and / or the water dept to corroborate our request if they wanted a professional opinion. Dan was entirely correct. When the city dug down to the buffalo box, it was leaking from the joint just as Dan had said. The city replaced the box and the valves at no cost to us. Dan's advice was possibly the BEST advice we have ever gotten. We appreciate his expertise, his honesty, and integrity!! We will be lifelong customers and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who needs a plumber!

I can't say enough good things about John Yerkes and Sons. From calling and scheduling, to their impeccable service, my experience with them has been fantastic. Tony recently came to replace my sump pump on short notice. He was upfront about options and gave me good advice about the best solution for me long term. He also negotiated with his dealer on price for a new sump pump right in front of me. They have also replaced a hot water heater for me. I am an extremely satisfied customer and would not hesitate to recommend them enthusiastically to anyone

My 15 year old hot water tank stopped working on Friday (10). I called after hours and left a message. I received a returned call on Saturday (11) morning, from Peter Yerkes. He was concerned and would have come out on Saturday if we needed hot water. My husband decided to let the repair go to Monday (13). Peter advised we call early in the morning around 7:30 AM so that they could get us into their schedule for Monday. I called Monday (13) morning and spoke with the owner that started the business years ago. I recall him from past jobs that Yerkes did at our home. He is a very nice pleasant person and always wants to assist. Peter came out and would have either repaired the issue or we could elect to go with a new water tank, it was our choice. No pushy salesman type behavior, it was all up to us. Since the water tank was 15 years old (it was installed in Nov of 2002 and stopped working Nov of 2017), we decided to have Peter and Dave, Jr III install a brand new water tank. No problems, they was nice, professional, worked hard, and did a Great Job! Yerkes has been my plumber for years. They have done many many jobs for us and we have been Pleased. Yerkes has always been quick to come to our aid. We have a history with Yerkes Plumbing and will continue to be our preferred plumbing contractor.

I don't know which was left more shitty, my laundry room floor, or how I was treated by the Folks at Yerkes & Sons.
I've put off leaving this review for a long while because I don't like doing negative reviews, especially for people I used to respect. But, today's the day. I hope this honest review helps someone make the right choice for them.
After my mother being a loyal Yerkes customer for as long as we've lived in this house which has been 25+ years, I've let go of that label because they let go of valuing us as customers a while ago. I'm not going to get into all the details, but I'll say this much, through the years there have been multiple screw ups, but once an older person feels safe calling a service provider, they forgive mistakes. And people like Yerkes take advantage. But not of my mother, not any more.
Little things: (If this is little- ps it's not)
More than once we had an appointment but no one showed or called, when you ask about it you get ""Oh Grandpa can't keep things straight sometimes. His bad"". That's comforting when you still can't use your bathroom. But I let it go. We all have Grandpa's who don't want to let go of their glory days.
Huge things:
Then this happened, and I'll never call or recommended Yerkes again because of it. A reoccurring problem with my drain in my laundry room. Every few years it needs to be rodded. I know because it's the same thing every time and so when I called Yerkes, I spoke with the Grandfather and I explained exactly what was happening again. He knew because he has worked in my house before. Its the exact same thing that's been done every 3 years for the last 2 decades so if they had any kind of records system they'd know. Anyway, he sends his grandson out, the guy gets here says ""I don't have the right equipment, I have to send someone from Beverly with the right machine"". I told him I explained to his grandfather when I called what the problem was, how it happens every few years. He said oh ""Grandpa makes mistakes all the time, he didn't want to give up control, you know how it is. What can you do."" Then we chit chat, nice kid......After the work is done, he has the nerve to try and charge me for 2 men for double the time. Like I'm a goddamned idiot.
Did the new generation of Yerkes see an Elderly woman and assume no one would speak up for her so they could fleece her all they want? How many people have they cheated like this? The balls on this guy, and his cheerful nice guy personality shifted like a house of cards the second I questioned why we were being billed for 2 men. He goes ""There are 2 men here."" Even though the 2nd guy never stepped foot in the house? That's work? You'd try to charge an 85yr old lady an extra $120 for your brother or whoever to sit in the car for 20 mins? Invite your family over, Junior, does that mean, I'm liable for billable hours? I explained to this young man ""This was your grandfather's mistake, and you think it's fair to charge us double for it?...Really?"" He knew he was wrong. He had admitted all night his Grandfather was wrong, and he swiftly went from being a really nice kid to very pissed off. If he had handled that differently, this wouldn't have ended this way. But, where I'm from, you don't take advantage of people. Don't lie about the work you do. A liar is a cheater, a cheater is a thief.
He changed the bill, BEGRUDGINGLY, he still overcharged me, but not by much more than usual. I just wanted him out of our home. And he had the nerve to say ""and I think I'm being more than fair with you""... Oh do you Sweetheart? Wait until someone tries to take advantage of your wife or mother. Just wait. Karma is a thing. You *will* experience it to learn a lesson.
P.s. Had the folks at Yerkes told me we were using the wrong kind of washing machine lint filter I wouldn't have sewer backups every few years. My new plumber showed me how to avoid the problem. That's fair. And because of that, I trust him so I'll pay his prices and call him when I need him. That's the kind of small business I'll support.

Called because of two friends recommended them. So glad I did. Mike & Matt came out for a leak under my kitchen sink and I asked they looked at a second bathroom that has not had a working sink or shower for a long time. They gave me an estimate and had to order parts. They called me back later that day and were able to return two days later because of my schedule. They did the job well and in an excellent amount of time and cost. These guys are my new plumbers. Local family owned business is a plus, more of a personnel interest in doing a good job!

I was so disappointed. After seeing good reviews I decided to call them for a quote to have a gas line installed from the house to the garage.
I gave all of my info to a man who sounded elderly (and a little out of it but maybe he was just busy). He said he would call me the following day to get someone out to quote it and then never called back.
In my experience with tradesman, if they miss a step on the front end of your interaction with them shame on you if have to stay on them just to get them out for an initial visit. It's usually a sign of more to come and you'll regret it later when something else goes wrong.
I was really into the reviews I read about this company but I can't look the other way when I give my name, address and phone number out and they never call.

Mike and Matthew came in to my home and replaced my ejector pump although I told them sump pump on the phone. They were professional and friendly and my dog liked them (my dog doesn't like anyone to come to the house). I appreciate them coming out on short notice and they didn't completely break the bank. Usually when you call plumbers they have you waiting all day. I called at 8:45 in the morning and they came out and was finished by 11. I would use this company again. Family owned and in the neighborhood.

Showed up on time. Bob was quiet and efficient. Will use again. The 3 other plumbers I called did not even bother to return my call.
