At the start of 2018, after serving as the lead mechanic for one of Philadelphia's busiest plumbing firms for over 15 years, I decided it was time to establish my own business. I can deliver the same, if not better, personalized service than the larger firms, at a lower price point, due to my reduced operating costs and overhead. This allows me to pass the savings directly to my clients.

John Snyder responded quickly (over the weekend!) via email, and I scheduled for their first available appointment. Zach and Anthony called ahead of my appointment to verify their arrival time. They gave me a solid estimate in advance of doing any work, and I was very comfortable having them work in my home! They did efficient, professional work and followed all recommended COVID protocols. It is clear that customer service and satisfaction are their top priorities! Zach and Anthony gave me their experienced opinion about future work I'd like to have done (installing a water filtration system), and John followed up with a phone call. I highly recommend John Snyder Heating and Plumbing!
We called John Synder Plumbing based on his yelp reviews. Of coarse there's always a few sour eggs in the reviews, but we over look those who just don't get it. John responded very quickly and had his team out to the house the very next day. Our case was not an emergency so there was no need for immediate response. We had some blockage issues and John himself was able to assess and had an estimate right away. They arrived at the scheduled time and quickly got our problems resolved. He had to dig up the main line outside the home and install a clean out. Big job! They explained everything they were going to do and it went very smooth. The yard doesn't even look like it was touched. I already have recommended him to some neighbors who were inquiring about his work. They were clean, efficient and extremely courteous. I am a very satisfied customer! Good honest working guys is a rarity these days, so I was happy to have found them and to recommend them too. Good professional hard working guys! Thank you to John Snyder Plumbing and Heating and his team. Good Job!
Chris F.John is amazing!! Our pipes backed up flooding our basement not allowing showers or the use of the bathrooms this happened after hours during the Covid19 situation. We called multiple plumbers finally getting one and when they never showed up we called John he was out in 30 mins and fixed our issue, he came with all the PPE to make us comfortable, did his job quickly and proficiently I would highly recommended him to anyone.
Started expierencing a more significant leak from a previously dripping bolt under the toilet tank at midnight last night. Started reaching out for plumber referrals then, including a search on Yelp. John responded immediately (and the fastest of all the others that responded) and said he could be out this am. We confirmed the appt this am, he arrived on time, he made all the necessary repairs, and advised me on some other plumbing questions I had for several other future projects that are plumbing-related. John is personable, knowledgable and experienced. THANK YOU, JOHN!
Geoffrey B.We couldn't be more thrilled with our experience with John Snyder Plumbing. He answered the phone directly himself and was super easy to work with by text messaging and cell phone - always with lightning fast responses. John and his assistant came on time and did our job quickly, quietly, and with an extremely professional approach. You can tell just by his snazzy pink van, that this is a guy who takes care of his business and his customers! We are super happy with the results, and the work area and our home was left spotless. Even settling the invoice by venmo was a super easy piece of cake! Thank you so much... I'm almost looking forward to our next plumbing problem!
Brittany C.I woke up one morning with a flooded basement and called several plumbing companies. I had a plumber tell me it was my main line drain that was clogged. John not only responded to my yelp request at 7am but called me! Anthony and Zach from JSnyder were the techs and they were both so knowledgeable and respectful of my home. They came right in looked at the water and found the source. I am a first time home buyer this year and this was the first large homeowner wow. The guys arrived around 12:30 and were done by 2! According to my mother the pricing was fair and that was all I ask..Quality, Trusting and Fair.
Trust me-Go with John Snyder Plumbing & Heating!
I called a couple different plumbers and John and Zach were the only ones who were able to come out the very next morning and match their price while getting the job done!
I've always tend to think plumbers rip you off but John rest assured me he'd put my mind at ease when it comes to plumbers...that he did! The job was complete Saturday morning at a reasonable price. Although we did have another problem (leaking dishwasher) unrelated to the first I did call him back and he was able to make time to come out again pretty fast. John inspected the dishwasher and made a quick fix to stop the leaking within minutea. We do need a new dishwasher and need to replace the floors but he reFerred us to a contractor (Royal contractors) that actually came out the same day later that afternoon. So...I've found my new plumber! Super fast response time, thorough in explaining what the problem was and what he was doing, went out of his way to offer additional info I was unaware of, (using the contractor) and fixed the problem!!
Has he changed my mind about plumbers?! Definitely...trust me you won't be disappointed with John Snyder Plumbing & Heating!
Quick response and repairs from John and his crew. Fixed my plumbing issues fast and at a great price!
Chris G.I woke up to a leaking hot water heater on Friday 3/1/2019 at 7am. I called John and he answered quickly. Although he was busy, he told me he would get to me in the afternoon and would let me know when he firmed up the time. He was at my house by 1:30pm and gone by 3:30pm and I had a new hot water heater. John and his team member were both professional and took the time to answer my questions. I appreciated how easy it was to work with John and I'm obviously appreciative that they could fit me during an emergency situation. I will be calling John for any future plumbing needs.
2/11/19 Update
The agreed upon rate was $125 an hour for repair of the pipe. There was never any mention of the charge being per person as there was never any mention of an accompanying assistant. Bottome line, there was either a charge for the work performed for ""free"" or there wasn't and if there was I should have been notified upfront so as to make an informed decision about whether I wanted to proceed and for which tasks, but for JS to act in the manner of pro bono and then inflate the cost of an agreed upon job after the fact IS dishonest. Yelpers take note.
Revised Rating. One star. Awesome work. Shady pricing.

Things that make you go HMM
1. How niceness (is this even a word), can be deceiving?
I didn't realize right away that I had actually contacted JS in December for a nagging issue with my water heater only to be told he was too busy to help at that time. Now, having a situation in late January, where I had no heat, no hot water and a clogged sink with a jammed garbage disposal, I was at my brink and sent a mass message to most of Yelp. 41 degree house? Fine, dress like an Eskimo, heat one room like a sauna. No hot water? Does the stove work? Do I have a pot? Yes, to both? Then what's the problem?? But couple those two issues with, ""single kitchen sink clogged"" and suddenly it's hell on earth. This time, John responded within minutes, after hours, while enroute to an emergency call on a Friday (nice, right?). He was booked thru the weekend, but agreed to check his schedule and get back with me by Monday. He called on Tuesday, able to stop by in 2 hours. Luckily, I was able to be home. By the time John arrived, me, a handy friend thousands of miles away and Youtube, resolved the clog, but in all my understanding and my friend's expert explaining, I couldn't fix the garbage disposal. John took 10 seconds to connect a loose hose and 20 seconds to explain how it all works, for no apparent charge (nice, right?). John took a look at the water heater, which may or may not need to be replaced and by chance at the furnance also. In thouroughly explaining the system to me (nice, right?), we found a leak in one of the pipes. John agreed to return in 2 days to fix both issues. Price: Water heater replaced at $1200 and $100/per hour for the cracked pipe. I passed on the work for the water heater, having already received a more competitive quote. Without the work for the water heater, the charge for the pipe work would be $125/hour. Sure.
2. How does 1x1 equals 3?
Having had the same work done previously (& recently), which I observed from start to finish, and having consulted people that I know and trust before John arrived, I knew the job should be straightforward, relatively simple (it was both) and take no longer than an hour (though John somehow guesstimated 3-4 hours). For whatever reason, (you be the judge) in all his experience and having seen the exterior pipe he would be working on, when John arrived, he claimed to not have any of the necessary replacement supplies (i.e. the standard 3/4 90 (basic elbow) and a 3/4 union pipe). Not sure that I buy that a 17-year plumber that drives a van and presumably has repaired countless pipes, didn't know what would be needed beforehand AND didn't already have the supplies. If not, what a waste of the van's space and so said experience. While you're at it, you may as well tell me that the earth is flat too. At any rate, he left for nearly an hour, obviously at my expense. All told the actual work lasted hardly an hour at best, but with included 1 hour trip to supply store, 2 hours. Lucky me, I have a security camera, so I can be accurate with times. Arrived-8:55. Left- 9:22. Returned- by 10:05. All work completed-10:51. $125x1= $125 right? Not with JS-BS math, as my total was $350. I didnt contest it initially, expecting the invoice to explain further. I don't cheat, I'm not conniving and I have morals, so if I owe you, I'll certainly pay. Instead, the invoice I received (which I checked in email after he left-major no,no I now know) shows one line item for a single, inexplicable, overpriced total. I've reached out requesting clarification twice, by email on the day of service and by text the following day. Two full days have now passed with no response. Guess he's really busy.
3. Why it's IMPOSSIBLE to find credible (read, honest) contractors in Philly?
Enough said.
Rating: Decent work, Bamboozle Pricing -20 stars for the riduclous pricing. 22 stars for the solid work and patient service. TOTAL: 2 stars
BS math back at ya.
