Had a leak in some copper piping at the end of September, John Owens came out the following Monday (Oct 2) and sent me a quote. Despite many back and forths, they never scheduled anyone to come out until Nov 4. That person called in sick. They told me they'd follow up on scheduling, but never did. When I called back in, they told me they didn't actually have the part they needed. So, 6 weeks and running with still no water running in this part of the house, and somehow they still don't have the parts they need. Folks answering the phone do not coordinate with each other, and no one knows why it might take 6 weeks for them to obtain the right piece of copper piping... or why they never respond to my various texts or emails.

John Owens Services replaced my old, on-demand wall-mounted, gas water heater with a new heat pump electric one. Every interaction with them was professional and courteous. The work was completed carefully and on time and they handled the application for a Sonoma Clean Power rebate quickly and correctly. A completely satisfactory experience.

Abel advised us when he was going to arrive. He and his helper were right on time. They installed a smart toilet for us. These toilets are twice as heavy as a regular toilet. Our bathroom is tiny, so not an easy task. Yet, they handle it, with expertise and precision. Abel and his helper were very courteous. A signature mark of all John Owen's employees.

This company did a very good job of sending their best guy out to sell the deal. Everything thereafter was fair to poor. I paid over $7000 for a heat pump water heater on a flat rate. But I looked up the unit I bought and all parts included would retail under $2000, which means they charged me $5000 labor for two guys (one of whom knew what he was doing) to do one day's work. I went for the deal based on a huge rebate available, which they calculated on the estimate as part of the sale price. During set up I was told the rebate would come in a month or two. Two months later I called to ask when my rebate would come and they were extremely rude, said it was impossible to estimate how long it would take, and said no one would have told me 1-2 months. I tried talking reasonably a few times and it was a terrible experience. Also, they told me as part of the rebate, PG&E would control the heater power during peak demand times. But they actually control it all the time, and I cannot change settings. Installation was November 2023, rebate finally came June 2024. So there is your actual estimate how long the rebate takes, over 6 months. Water heater works fine, overall terrible experience. I have learned my lesson to shop around, ask more questions up front, and to only work with companies that will itemize parts and labor. I can pay a flat rate, but no plumber is worth $2500/day.

We have great history using John Owens Services. at our home. A few weeks ago we had the drain line from the kitchen sink to the sewer pipe changed from the original galvanized pipe to a 2"" plastic pipe. The shower kit was also leaking and needed replacement due to age and usage.
The work was done in a single morning and we are very happy with the results.

NOTE: Our house was constructed in the 1950's and those original galvanized pipes will corrode and rust will build up inside. If you have been calling the ROTO-guy every 6 months or so to snake your plugged drains-the replacement of drain line is the way to go. We saw a section of the old removed pipe (YIKES) and the newly installed plastic will not attract any rust/corrosion build up.

We have hot water again! Thank you to John Owens for speedy and efficient service! I called Monday morning and a technician was out that afternoon to look at my failed water heater, gave me a recommendation and quote on a new one (that was completely in line with the research I'd done), and got the process going to have another team out to install the replacement today. The crew just left after installing the new tankless heater and hauling away the old. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone!

Technician arrived on time and quickly diagnosed my issue as an slowly failing ignitor. The element was still glowing but not hot enough to reliably spark the flame. I appreciate that he did not try to sell me an expensive repair and with his diagnostic info I was able to complete the repair myself for $60.

I called John Owens Services because I had a problem with my furnace not heating our house. I talk to Nikki told her my situation and she said she would contact the tech and get back to me. In an about a half hour she texted with a timetable of when the tech would be able to stop by. Cody showed up and diagnosed the problem and in less than 1/2 hour it was fixed! Thank you Cody and Nikki for being so knowledgeable and professional! I will be using them in the future! Side note- I called two other companies the Friday after thanksgiving and they didn't return calls when they said they provided 24 hour service!

I was having off and on issues with my furnace ""firing"" on. Moore came out three times (repaired once but only lasted a week) and gave me a quote for over $6,000. to repair. I then had David from Owens Services out and he repaired my furnace. He was very professional, knowledgable and articulate in explaining the problem. For $225. my furnace was up and running and is still functioning well over 6 weeks later! So glad I got a second opinion with John Owens. I was very pleased and impressed with all aspects of this company!
