We hadn't had hot water in almost a week because the Striker wouldn't lite. This water heater is 2 years old that we bought from manards. I called John Henry and told them the situation I had. They came by the next day around 9:30 am. Before getting a contract out here I was told from them, to take a look at it and the labor it will be $50 only (we will come back to this ) . So when this young man came inside to look at the heater , in 5-10 mins he said that we will need to replace the old heater that I bought two years ago that will be roughly around 1,700. He said or we can replace the parts which will take 5-7 business days , then your looking at the parts you need , the labor to put it in , and the city to inspect it and you will be looking around 700 give or take. Then he started telling me the perks and benefits of buying ""Our"" heater , went into detail , like he was a damn salesman trying to sell girl scout cookies. I told the guy straight up that I'm not interested and the last time this happened , that I was told from JH that the heater needed to be replaced but all it need was new Thermal pilot and worked. He than said okay I still need payment for my inspection and quote I said okay , then he proceeded to tell me that it will be 100 for the quote of and the 10 mins of labor he spent there. I told him ""no sir there was no labor required of you , you just took a 2 min glance at my heater and that's was it and I was told $50 is all I needed to pay , he said okay that will be 50$ and left. Momma didn't raise no fool.

I contacted John Henry plumbing to install a new faucet. An installer came out and quickly installed a faucet, however, it was a fancy faucet. I asked if he had a simpler one, but he told me that was the only one in his truck. He told me to ""play with it for a few days"" to get used to it. He took my old faucet, did not leave me the box for the new one. The warranty paper he left was not for the faucet that was installed. He gave me a bill for $834 and I was shocked! I am a retired senior citizen on a fixed income. I contacted the office for an itemized bill so I could find out how much the faucet vs labor cost, I never got an itemized list. I called their office and told them the faucet is too complex for me, I was told they would see what they could do, maybe a check for $50 or $100, They eventually sent me a check for $50. I felt they took advantage of a senior citizen. I will not recommend them to anyone.

We discovered that our 30 yr old furnace had a cracked heat exchanger on 3JAN. After getting 2nd opinions and quotes from some other contractors I went with John Henry's to replace it. They said it would be the early afternoon of the day of the installation and it was, they put up with my asking questions occasionally over the few hours they were here about the heater, how it worked vs the old one, things to watch out for with routine maintenance, etc.
They were fast, relatively quiet considering that they had to remove the furnace and rebuild ductwork around the stack. They tested blower pressure and temperatures at the furnace and in the house afterward. While I don't relish having to do it again anytime soon they were the most upfront with their pricing and the most responsive with quotes and supporting documentation to send to my HO insurance policy people. Justin R and Jacob were great.

I called John Henry's for an appointment last Thursday, soonest they could come was today (Monday) sometime between 8 am and 4 pm. When no one had come by 3:30 I contacted them, they said someone would be out ""this afternoon."" Two hours and 45 minutes later (10 hours and 15 minutes total time spent waiting) they called to say someone was ""on the way."" I told them not to bother, and that I'd be hiring one of their competitors tomorrow.

If Yelp would allow me to give a no star rating I would. I paid $95 for a tech to come out and attempt to sell me a new water heater. Then when I talk to the ""Manager"" Brian he stated that I was given multiple options to fix said water heater(which is less than 5 years old) even tho the tech said they wouldn't work. Brian then attempted to sell me a water heater when I was disputing the labor charges. If you want water heater salesman call John Henry's. If you're looking for a plumber, call literally anyone else.

Had new A.O. Smith 50 gal water heater installed by John Henry's on 12/19/20 first thing on this Sat. morning. Did a good job removing old and installing new unit. Here's why I gave them only one star. On that same day the heater stopped working sometime in the night. I called them on Sunday morning and told woman answering phone that their brand new heater wasn't working. She said they would get someone out on Monday. I said that was unacceptable. She argued with me. Finally got her to agree to send some one out around 11:15am. Very knowledgable and personable tech told me the brand new heating element was defective. I said great replace it. He said their warehouse doesn't open until Monday morning. They didn't get out with the part until 2pm on Monday. No hot water for 3 days. They are very stubborn people to deal with. No apologies or owning up for their defective product nor discount for this problem. Try taking a cold shower in winter and you will understand my frustration. Won't be using them again.

Came out and gave me a bid, then when I accepted their bid they told me they could not actually do it. Wasted almost a week of my time since they were also backed up on appointments.

Do not do business with these people.
Two years ago, they came out to snake our upstairs tub. They broke the pipe, causing a major leak that destroyed the ceiling of our living room, which is above the upstairs bathroom. They blamed the old pipes. But before they snaked it, I asked them if it would do any damage to the pipes.
They said, ""we're pros. We know how to be careful.""
That evening, thinking all was well, my wife and I look up sitting in our living room and water is pouring forth from above!
John Henry's refused to own up to it... having me in their grip, I paid them to repair the damage, then had to have the ceiling repaired (including new plaster and taping etc.).
They promised that the tub would no longer have drainage problems ""because of the new technology of our piping system.""
The tub backed up again. I called to tell them that I wanted them to come and fix it and reminded them of the promise.
The tech came (a lovely young man--I don't hold him account; even tried to tip him for his time--) but he said I need to pay the service call and pay for the snaking.
I refused, citing the promise that they said that their work was so good that it wouldn't get backed up.
(oh, I forgot to mention that they nicked the tub in a few spots and since the finish has slowly pealed away).
Just got a bill for the service charge, which I was told I wouldn't have to pay.
I called the accountant and they insist that I should pay for the service call.
Not gonna happen.
Luckily, Select Plumbing is right upstairs now fixing the problem.
Wish I had called them in the first place.

I contacted John Henry Plumbing to repair a problem caused by a RotoRooter employee. Originally I hired RotoRooter to unclog my main sewer line because I had used them the last time I had a clog. The employee was polite but seemed a little disgruntled. He did not use a camera to diagnose the problem instead he just inserted his auger line. The auger line became tangled in the main drain and could not be dislodged. The employee said that RotoRooter would send out a professional to look at the problem. I waited but no one came instead I received a call from RotoRooter saying that it would be between $6000-$8000 to make the repair without even coming out and looking at the issue. I freaked out and called John Henry Plumbing for a second opinion. I spoke to Matt, who was home sick, and he explained what needed to be done. They were able to use the camera and saw that the RotoRooter auger line was tangled around an auger line that had broken off in the main drain. They provided an estimate of $3000+ and explained what they would need to do and why the price could vary. Matt expedited my job to the next morning at no extra cost. Matt and his crew arrived right on time and began working immediately. My brother-in-law said that he'd never seen such an expert excavator, you could not tell that a repair was done except for the new clean outs they installed. The final cost was within the original quote and I had working bathrooms. After having a very bad year, John Henry Plumbing and Matt went above and beyond to help me out and I can't express enough gratitude. I would highly recommend John Henry Plumbing/HVAC to anyone interested in honesty and integrity.

What I thought would be a stand up company without the B.S turned out to be just that. They came and installed a whole house humidifier which I asked for and was fair price and good job. But before it was over, of course one of the guys wanted to be a sales man. I get they should make suggestions..but ONLY if u need it. Well one kid said that my air duct looked really dirty and should do a whole house duct cleaning. Well I wasn't sure but why would he straight up lie. So I let them talk me into doing it, figuring with babies, it's a good idea for good air. When they were finished, they had the machine outside and I asked to see what they collected that was ""really dirty "" in my ducts. Yeah, you could fit what they got in a cereal bowl. Man I was pissed ! So expect John Henry guys to con you into things you don't need. I should have called them and complained to get my money back for lying to my face. They know I'm a disabled Vet that doesn't have much income to throw around. I expected better from them and I wasted my money. Beware
