Joe M.Our boiler conked out during a night when the temperatures went into the low 30s. John C. Flood's Dale Gunn Jr. did a superb job fixing the boiler and also pointed out several items with our boiler and water heater that need addressing. We are very pleased with the quality of the work.
The Technician came out on 9-27-2021, for the annual Boiler inspection. After looking and inspecting the Boiler he tells my nephew that it is reading high and we need to have a Chimney Sweeper clean the Chimney. But the Technician never left anything in writing or emailed me the owner his findings.
Now I m left calling Chimney Sweepers to come out they come out and state that the Chimney doesn't need cleaning. They charge me $60.00 for coming out for nothing. So I pay $120.00 service contract every year with John C. FLOODand get the run around and no correct answers.
A ceiling mounted light fixture sparked as I was changing the bulb and blew out the lights in several other rooms. Andy arrived on time with a nice smile and kind personality. He was obviously experienced by the way he went about his business. Andy diagnosed the problem immediately and fixed it. I am waiting for a new ceiling mounted fixture to come and Andy will return to do the installation. I know it will go as smoothly as the first visit. Such a relief.
Our basement toilet and shower backed up over the Labor Day weekend. Assumed it was the sewage ejector pump not working. Called the office on Sunday morning and quickly reached their scheduler. Given the weekend they couldn't get anyone out the same day but could promise someone for Monday morning on Labor Day. Great communication confirming the appointment. Received a text with the name and picture of the technician on Monday morning and then a phone call from him, Jake Wayne, telling me he was about 20 min out. Very courteous and very careful to keep our house clean. Turns out it was a major blockage of the drainpipe from the bathroom to the ejector pit. Jake kept me informed all the way along. Fast service and everything was left spotless. Would use them again in a heartbeat.
Donnie B.Recently had estimate August 4th 2021 for a leaking water heater drain valve. A individual by the name of Jeff showed up with a mock style fabric style covering instead of a proper mask. The individual Jeff gave a verbal estimate and advised he would send the estimate the next day which I was charged $79.00 for however I sent a email in reference to not receiving a emailed estimate and today is August 12 2021 no estimate so this could possibly be simply one of their ways to generate revenue vs actually doing the work. I don't recommend using this company I'd rather pay more for professional services than wonder about a company that can't provide a simple estimate for a water heater replacement. Avoid this company...I shouldn't have to email a company to request a estimate they ADVISED they would provide the next day. Maybe John C Flood is overwhelmed with so much business they just don't have time...either way...they can afford to lose business because I will take my business elsewhere...don't waste your time with this company...
Called to repair simple toilet running issue. John Plank, a ""Master Pumber"" told us the toilet needed to be replaced for $1100. Never sent us the estimate to repair toilet rather than replace which he told us was $700.
Called another Plumbing Company which sent a knowledgeable plumber who fixed the toilet for $220.
I had previously called another company for service and was not very happy so I looked around and saw this company has appointments 7 days a week so I called them. They came out the following day. It ended up that I did need a new HVAC system and the tech was very professional walked me through the whole process. He showed me where and what was broken in my system which I really appreciated seeing it for myself. All the techs were very knowledgeable, respectful & kind. They took all the time to explain everything to me as well. I signed up on their service contract which I am grateful for because I did have an issue and they came out same day to assess and diagnose the issue. I would definitely recommend them. I did learn there are more then one ""John C Flood"" 's so be SURE to call John C Flood of VA they service MD, DC & VA That is the company to go with.
Joshua L.We contacted John C. Flood for routine maintenance for our HVAC. We had Toan as our technician and he was extremely friendly and courteous throughout the process. Everything went as planned to keep our A/C running properly.
The tech showed up and supposedly tested the a/c and furnace. He said the a/c was fine except for one small issue and it probably wouldn't last through the summer. If it was ""fine"" then how would it not last. Said the furnace motor was running hot. He got it in his head that the problem was with the thermostat. He replaced it for a total of $450! My husband kept telling him that the air coming out wasn't cool but he said ""it's humid outside so it won't feel cold"" What? I felt ripped off after he left because the house refused to cool down. I could hear the a/c unit trying to come on and pulling a lot of power from the house. Keep in mind that it wasn't doing that before he came. I looked online and the thermostat was only $70. With the service call, it was a 400% markup! We had another company come out that evening. The guy immediately pulled the fuse because it wasn't running right and he wanted to keep it from burning out until he could diagnose the problem. Well, it was burned out. There were a bunch of issues the second company found and they questioned who did the original service call. John C. Flood knows NOTHING about HVAC systems. They are supposed to be refunding most of our money and they can have their thermostat back. We called and complained and the manager said that the second guy (who is the owner and we know him and trust him) didn't know what he was doing. Well, we had 2 more companies come out to give us an estimate on a new HVAC system and they both agreed with the second company. Stay as far away from John C. Flood as possible! I would give them zero stars if I could. They were also supposed to come back that same evening to talk about fixing the motor (they never did but did eventually offer to come out 4 days later). I have no proof of this but I am wondering if they sabotaged the system to make a sale.
Prompt, courteous, and most important - highly competent. I also like their use of technology. Right at hand they have all the info on my system and it's history.
