Company Overview

Primarily residential services, with some business service and installation of different common plumbing fixtures including water heaters, taps, disposals, toilets, shut-off valves, pressure regulators, damaged pipes, and more.

I started my business after many decades in the trade working for larger firms because I felt there was a lack of personal touch with customers. I honed my skills well enough to earn my license as a contractor, which I received in 1993, and I have been succeeding on my own since then.

Raised in New York, I relocated to California in 1975 and spent time in home improvement stores and building supply stores early in my career. I tied the knot in 1987 and brought up a few kids. I began my career in the plumbing industry around that time until I gained enough to complete my exam. My kids are all adults now, and we enjoy our life in beautiful Temecula.

Following knee replacement surgery, my wife used the rest room at her physician's office in Temecula after a physical therapy session: the commode was slightly raised (elevated 2"") and quite comfortable for m wife aging with mobility issues. I was unable to find the item on Amazon.com or other sites. I had made 3 other alternative item purchases that afforded some comfort but fell short in meeting her satisfaction. So, I asked the office manager where they had acquired their toilet seat, and she happily referred me to Joe Gray's Plumbing. I contacted the plumber, and he quickly returned my call, asked if my toilet was oval or round; I checked and replied ""oval"", and he said he'd get back to me soon for installation. He quickly recalled, gave me, I believe a quoted, installed price of $182 with a tentative installation date predicated upon product receipt. The installation was subsequently changed and upon providing my home address (a rural community 26 miles from the doctor's office), the plumber replied that he thought I lived in Menifee. He later suggested that the seat be dropped off at the doctor's office with a total invoice price of $181 (material: $131, Labor:$50). Concerned about an installation problem for me, I questioned the complexity and was advised it was simply using hardware like the existing toilet seat. During a subsequent call after pickup, it was revealed the product was found on Amazon.com, and upon request, a part number 2L2150T was provided. Researching the P/N on Amazon revealed a product I had previously previewed but as I recall, the picture did not clearly show the elevation points. In my subsequent conversation with the plumber regarding his labor computation he revealed, included in his time of labor was the revisit to he physician's office to take pictures of the commode he had previously installed (rather than using the invoice for the previous order). When queried, the labor charge of $50 also included internet research, and his final drop-off to the physician's office for my pick up. I reviewed the price based on the info the plumber's office provided & arrived at normal shipping & tax total cost of $114.80 as opposed to $131 provided by the plumber, and I thought the $50 for labor was excessive. When asked by the plumber how much of a discount I believed was appropriate, frustrated and dissatisfied, I hastily answered $50 which prompted a response by the plumber that ended the conversation.

I called Joe Gray's Plumbing on a Tuesday afternoon to replace a hose bib on our rental property. Joe promptly called me back and the hose bib was replaced the next afternoon. Great service!!

Recently had a leak that needed to be repaired. The plumber show up within three hours. Fixed what was a pinhole leak a copper pipe 1/2"". Under our manufactured
home. He was here less than 2 hours charged nearly $ 700.00 . OUCH!!!!! I do not recommend this plumber for anyone. I called Joe's Plumbing and complained about the labor rate and I will report he offered a discount which was greatly appreciated. However it was no where near to being fair.

Called on Labor Day weekend and Joe actually answered the phone. He had Adam call me, after the holiday per my request. Adam called and we made arrangements for the following day. Very professional, pleasant, and didn't mind me hanging over his shoulder and asking questions. I would definitely recommend them to others.

We recently had a problem -- at the worst possible time! Our home is on the market, and yesterday we noticed the upstairs toilet was leaking with water coming down on the living room ceiling.

We had a potential buyer scheduled for the next day and needed to get this fixed. We called Joe Gray since we had used him on another problem a few years ago.

Apparently Joe is semi-retired and Adam is taking his calls. We were a little concerned since we had always dealt with Joe in the past. Not to worry, Adam is just great! He said he'd be at our place by 5pm, and was right on time. He had already picked up a replacement toilet. Within an hour, the job was done perfectly.

Getting same-day service, quality work and a reasonable price all scored big marks with us. In addition, Adam has a great personality and seems like the kind of guy you'd want to hang out with. I just hope he gets home once in awhile to enjoy his family :)

Thanks so much! Adam is the only plumber to actually look at the water heater and figured out the pilot light had gone out because of the venting. I now have hot water and didn't have to replace the whole thing. I will be going to on-demand tankless soon, and Joe Gray's Plumbing is going to do the work for me. Very trustworthy.

I was going to give them 5 stars, but then I had to call them out again for THE SAME PROBLEM, which was a clogged kitchen drain. Granted, this was 60 days after the first visit, but i was careful not to even use the disposal or put anything down the drain. this was probably my fault as I didnt want anything to clog it again. when I dumped a pot of water down, it clogged and backed up the same as before, so I called Joes AGAIN and he sent Adam out again to re snake it. It seems better now, but he still charged me full price. So I paid $250 total to unclog my drain. Fair? maybe, maybe not, but at least they could have charged me half, which would have been fair to me, since it wasnt really cleared the first time. obviously, no tip this time, even tho Adam was courteous and polite about it.

I recently had a plumbing issue with a leak in my main copper water line into my house. I called Joe Gray and they were very prompt in sending out a very courteous and very knowledgeable young plumber named Adam. He immediately diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repairs in a very timely and professional manner. We were up and had running water, (again) in no time. He did such a great job and I was so impressed with his level of knowledge and work ethic, I asked him to place a valve in my shower that I had been procrastinating about... Again a very fast and quality job was performed, and all at, ( what i felt to be) a very ""reasonable"" price...
I just had another plumbing issue today, and again I called Joe Gray's Plumbing and again Adam arrived in a timely manner and resolved my issue very quickly... After two recent quality and satisfied encounters with this company, and especially Adam, I felt compelled to write this review... This is a very professional, family owned, ""old school"" company that i would encourage anyone in the Temecula, CA area requiring plumbing services to contact this company...:-) Regards, JH

Joe Gray whined the whole time he was here - he had some kid with him that knew nothing but we somehow ended up having to pay for him. He charged us over $300.00 for a half hour work. We had the parts. Then what he fixed started leaking (it wasn't a leak originally) so we called another plumber that actually fixed the problem and told us that what Joe Gray did caused the new problem. I wasn't going to say anything but 2 of my neighbors just had the same complaint about overcharging and whining.

Joe came to reconnect all of our kitchen sink guts after we installed Corian Countertops. We thought this was something we could attempt ourselves and began the work but we soon realized with the difference in sink depth we needed to call in a professional. Joe and his apprentice were kind, hard working and affordable. Thank you Joe for fixing my sink! I actually enjoy washing dishes now that the sink works again. :D
