Horrible don't even bother calling - after scheduling an appointment a month out to get a water heater replaced they were 2 hours late and they never followed up with an estimate or a call
Horrible customer service
Our building had an emergency flooding situation involving raw sewage. Totally gross. Jo Mi came the same afternoon and took care of it. They are professional and their prices are reasonable.
Miles M.Beyond terrible. It was such a horrific experience I din't even want to recount all of it. I must say the plumbers who came out were nice, but the owner has lost touch with reality. He has zero clues about good business practices our reasonable customer service and week literally get in a shouting match to defend his insane prices. I'm seriously considering reporting them to BBB.
My friend worked for Roto rooter and was beyond shocked at how insanely overpriced Jo-Mi is.
I have no doubt the first generation owner was more reasonable then the current crazy running the place.
On the plus side, we have had good experiences with Jo-Mi in terms of solving substantial plumbing problems. They have always come when they said they would, and the one time they were wrong about something being fixed, they were quick to come back at no extra charge. That said, their pricing scheme is kind of rough in terms of minimums for visits, and they are on the expensive side.
We have happily used Jo-Mi plumbing since purchasing our Mar Vista home in 1983, and we also use them for our business plumbing needs. In addition to being happy with their plumbing work that we usually arrange ahead, Kelvin, the second generation owner/manager, has been amazingly helpful in emergency situations (even though that is not where their business is directed,) even after hours by responding to a page. We also love that the core office staff remains constant, and is very responsive.
We have used Jo-Mi Plumbing for at least 10 years. Until last year, we were pretty satisfied customers. I have 4 units in West L.A and Jo-Mi has taken care of all our plumbing needs for these 4 units all these years. Last year we had one appointment after another canceled at the last minute by Jo-Mi because of an emergency. My tenants are working people and they took off work for these appointments but emergencies do come up so we rescheduled each time. Our biggest frustration has been an intermittent leak. Jo-Mi has come out on numerous occasions doing various things to take care of this leak but to no avail. After doing everything we knew to do, we called Jo-Mi again about the leak. Each time they come, they do basically the same thing which takes almost 2 hours. Yesterday I received the bill and I don't llive in L.A. but my plumber was at my house when the bill came and I talked to him about this continual problem. My plumber suggested two possibilities that I didn't remember Jo-Mi mentioning so I called them. My plumber said one would have required all the walls open to check but we had all the walls open last year for vertical plumbing. I spoke to the office manager and he said they wouldn't have checked for that because they didn't see a history of a leak. I said there is a history and you've been out many times in response to this leak and you were out again just last week. The office manager said he couldn't find a history and it would be very difficult to find a history because they don't keep records based on address or name, but by date of work done. Then he asked me to send him copies when they'd been out and noted the leak, I explained that I didn't need to prove to him that there's a history of a leak, that I was just looking for a resolve. He then said ""And you expect us to do this for free?"" I never said a word about expecting them to do anything for free. It's time to start looking for a new plumbing company.
Jack N.We have used Jo-Mi for years but no more. We recently called them to replace a water pressure regulator. The serviceman arrived, discovered that he didn't have the right regulator with him, went back to the shop to fetch the needed version, returned to our place and installed the new regulator. The installation took about 15 minutes. All fixed.
Then we got the bill! The charge was 1,5 hours for the ill-equipped serviceman's time. The price for the regulator was more than 178% of its price at Home Depot.
Nevermore!
A few weeks later I got an apology and a partial refund on the project with an explanation about the difficulties of competing against big box stores. A problem for most small businesses but one with which they must cope.
Used them twice. First time for a minor repair. Expensive but clean, on time and solid.
Second time to replace faucet.
I was definitely overcharged for the faucet itself by at least 60% ( compared to retail prices of the same model faucet on internet). Labor is pricey as well.
Called to discuss pricing. Explanation was : those are the prices and we charge for travel time...
They are nice and prompt but not straight forward and upfront about pricing. In one word: BEWARE.
Recommended them to several people and now regretting it.
Audrie B.As I was looking for a new plumbing company I selected JO-MI based on reviews and a impressive advertisement in Neighbor to Neighbor. Kelvin set up the appointment for Monday at 11.00 and we spent 15 minutes on the phone discussing my needs of a new water heater and installation. I took off work for this appointment. Kelvin came on Monday and spent an hour looking looking at the water heater and making a plan for a new system. When he learned it is an emergency and we barely have hot water he promised to send an estimate within 24 hours and said he would squeeze the job in.
No Estimate and no word from this company. A waste of time!
Matthew K.Jo-Mi installed our heating system for water and air. We couldn't be happier with their prompt service and ability to maintain our home's heating. They are always quick to return calls, repair and/or consult. They've been our goto heating guys for years. Easy to contact with questions or appointments too. Great guys all around.
