Libby C.Our central air system unfortunately caught on fire this past spring so we needed a completely new furnace. Kevin did a fantastic job educating us on what our options were. We never felt like he was pressuring us or trying to up sell his services to make more money. I felt like he went above and beyond to make sure our central air system was safe. He was very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and efficient. I highly recommend hiring Kevin from JMS!
The young men who came to my home were awesome! They were super friendly and kind to my children. They diagnosed and fixed the leak rather quickly and we're happy to entertain and answer my children's questions in the process. They did a great job fixing the problem. The cost of the job seemed a bit expensive for the work, but I'm glad it's fixed.
Pros: Company is prompt and lets you know if they are running late, which is rare.
Cons: They were sent out to fix a leak, however, the leak continued after the ""fix"". I understand this can happen, and was not upset, so we asked them to come out and look at it again. It turned out they hadn't found the real issue the first time. However, they still charged us for both visits. I called multiple times and left messages saying I was happy to pay the first bill, but not the second since it was their error, and the fix was quick - so they could have just done it the first time without much additional effort. Moreover, both the original and the new bill involved rounding up, which is totally normal, but because they came out twice, I had to pay for two rounded times, when the new fix, which took less than an hour, might have been handled within the original 2 hours paid for. They did not call me back or get rid of the bill. It's too bad because I liked them otherwise.
This company installed a tank-less water heater in my home 5 years ago. When they completed the initial job they left a mess on the floor and never reconnected my smoke detector they disconnected without permission. They had set it off on several occasions while sweating pipe fittings underneath it. The hot water tank started leaking so I contacted JMS by leaving multiple messages on their answering machine. Eventually spoke with a woman who said she'd pass on the information. They never got back to me. I started a warranty claim with the hot water heater company Navien and used another preferred plumber for their products. The plumber that evaluated the problem said that a water filter system should have been in place for the system to installed to company standards. They took photos and submitted them to Navien. After 2 weeks I contacted the hot water heater company and they said that the new plumber has not returned or answered their calls. As fate would have it, this new plumber is also avoiding my calls. I can't seem to find a plumber worth their salt in Cortland.
