Disappointing Experience: Overpriced

I recently hired JMB to install a faucet and a garbage disposal in my condo. The recommendation came from the contractor who handled my countertop and backsplash installation, so I trusted their judgment. Unfortunately, my experience with JMB left much to be desired.

The installation itself was carried out by an apprentice and another worker, who spent around 45 minutes completing the job. Everything seemed to be in working order, so I didn't anticipate any issues until I received the bill. To my shock, I was charged a whopping $1229 for what should have been a routine installation.

When I reached out to JMB to address my concerns, I was met with a series of dismissive responses:

Missing Quote: They claimed to have sent me a quote, which I never received.
Lack of Communication: They deflected responsibility onto the contractor who recommended them, despite my assumption that pricing would be fair and reasonable.

Unjustifiable Pricing: Their insistence on charging a flat rate without considering labor costs left me feeling taken advantage of, especially when other plumbers confirmed that the job should have cost significantly less.
Unresponsive Owner: In my business, I would be speaking to the customer about a situation like this - never heard a word

In an attempt to rectify the situation, JMB offered me a mere $100 credit toward future services, which did little to address my dissatisfaction.
Ultimately, my trust in JMB was misplaced, and I regret not seeking multiple quotes before proceeding with the installation. I've since learned that this company bids on services through our town municipality, and I'll be sharing my experience with the superintendent of facilities for further review.

In conclusion, while I can't dictate others' choices, I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with JMB as a cautionary tale. Proceed with caution and consider exploring other options before entrusting them with your plumbing needs.

Note:
I anticipate an answer claiming the cost of the 3/4 Horsepower Insinkerator with 7 year warranty was much higher than the ones I found on line and calling plumbing supply companies ($220) - My math shows that even if the disposal was marked up 100% the labor is still over $800/hour

Todd from JMB Plumbing is flat out awesome along with the business overall. Ask for Todd if at all possible!

I had a leak and requested quotes from multiple plumbing companies. JMB Plumbing offered to give a free estimate by having someone come out that same day. You'd be surprised how other plumbing companies suggested charging a fee to either come out or even give a quote - what's the purpose of a quote at that point?

Todd was right on time and quick with his review and estimate. The estimate itself was very competitive when compared to others, and what's not to love about the fact that they offer an additional discount if paying by cash or check?

When it came time to getting the work done, Todd was very thorough while also being knowledgeable and friendly. I'd ask him what best practices are as far as leak preventions and he welcomed providing guidance which was incredibly helpful for those of us like myself that know practically nothing about plumbing. He even offered pricing around other ideas I have in the future such as installing a new sink head in the kitchen.

JMB Plumbing will definitely be my go-to for any future plumbing related work. I have also shared my experience and recommendation with my family and coworkers who have not had the greatest experience with other local plumbing companies (whether by price or experience). Great experience from start to finish.
The sweet young lady that took the call was very informative and efficient. They put in a service call for next morning. ( non emergency) .
The gentleman who showed up ( on time) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was later joined by another employee who was just as nice and they got the job done quickly without fuss and made sure they didn't leave a mess. Gave us some tips so we wouldn't have the same problem again hopefully. Came recommended and I would pass along that recommendation.

Was pleased from the beginning with the quick response time on the front end from finding out what I needed, the follow through with quick appointment time and flexibility on scheduling. Joe and Jon showed up on time willing and eager to work. A job that was told by others with either a run around of what needed to be done or no returned phone calls they completed today. It was in a tough spot to get and not the easiest of tasks. Along with two other items I wanted to check off my list they finished and I'm glad I don't have to worry about now. Very professional and thorough! I'm glad to finally have a go to plumbing company I feel confident calling and trusting.

We had a leaky sink in our bathroom (pedestal sink) and although JMB had many jobs to attend to due to the recent winter weather and broken pipes Jason and Joe were able to squeeze me in and get the job done. They are very professional, friendly and honest. Very reasonably priced and we have used them before and will definitely use them again.
