I called the office and explained to the person/receptionist that I wanted an estimate for a loop. I wasn't interested in a water softener. The person that answered the phone told me the plumber would give me an estimate for just the loop and another estimate for loop and softener. So I said okay. I paid $69 for the plumber to make the trip to the house.
The plumber came and seemed very knowledgeable about how to do the work. He gave me an estimate of $6800 for a specific softener that they install. While he was preparing the estimate, I asked him for the cost of just a loop. He would not give me an estimate. Said it was the most expensive part of the entire thing.
I sent an email to the company informing them that I did not received what I paid for and would like them to send me the estimate for the loop. Have not heard from them.
I would say don't call them they are just interested in selling the product not the service. It's not inexpensive-$6800.

Mike came out the same day I called and was a true Godsend. He was friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. Best $ I've spent in awhile. Thanks Mike and God Bless you.

Mike from JL Phelps & Assoc. went above and beyond his call. I am so appreciative of his hard work and vast knowledge of plumping. He taught me so much too! He was incredibly professional and was able to provide same day service. I will definitely be calling JL Phelps & Associated again.

This guy is a snake. Most of what I paid him $16,000 to do (during the replumb of my house) has since had to be redone by another plumber.
Avoid this company at all costs

Horrible experience. I had to have my drain line replaced in my yard. They took forever to finish the job, and then at the end hounded me for quick payment, promising that if there were any issues, they would quickly be out to fix them. Fast forward 3 months and the final inspection hasn't been completed and my sprinkler system is still not working (they broke through all of the pipe when digging and were supposed to repair it). They don't return calls or emails in a timely manner. Stay away

Never return phone calls. Does not keep to a schedule. Does not complete the job contract for. Took our money and did not finish. Find someone else if you can.

Home warranty Landmark sent him out -- paid the $60 for him to come. Then informed another $250 was required for him to crawl under my house in the crawl space - "an access fee", standard in town per Josh. After spending 30 minutes under the house to get to the laundry leak and confirm it was a leak, he informed me I would have to cut a hole in the floor to do the job.
3 months later - i finally am able to get around to cutting a hole. He says Landmark is holding out on payments for other jobs and he is not really working with them and that he would need a reassurance that he would get paid for his work.
I call Landmark--they have dropped him as a referral source and now I get to start over with a new plumber, down $310 for 30 minutes of confirming I have a leak.

Here is the skinny: This guy is a snake with a snake.
Josh came out because my home warranty sent him out. He misunderstood what was covered by the warranty and so he had to come back once I cleared up that his work was partially covered and I would cover the rest.
When he finally comprehended that he would be paid half by me and half by my home warranty, he came out again. He removed the toilet, snaked the line, announced that our toilet was not vented, and smashed it all back together. Incidentally, the toilet is vented and has been for the last 26 years. He said that it would never work correctly because it isn't vented. The toilet worked twice after he left. When I paid a real professional to come back out, we saw that there was a gallon of wax down there and that he had totally smashed up the horn so that flow was very restricted. Like two flush restricted. I followed up with the home warranty company so they would know not to use him. Subsequently, I followed up with him.
He likes to tell people he has been a master plumber for some impressive number of years and between promotion and defense of himself, I was not able to get a word in. I asked him not to speak over me and then he hung up on me.
Real professional.
The warranty company is so ashamed of him they are compensating me for his work.

Unreliable. I called them a week in advance to schedule a plumbing job, and Josh and his assistant were very friendly and seemed eager to do the work. I even followed up a few days later to confirm the job day/time. Everything seemed great, and I made all of the proper arrangements for Josh to come and do the work. He never showed up, and suddenly stopped answering my texts and calls. Earlier, I would get responses back immediately from him.
I am now contemplating a career change. I want to charge $100/hour and not show up for scheduled jobs without any repercussions!

I called Mr Phelps in the spur of a moment for an estimate on possibly installing a spigot in my backyard. He called me back and scheduled a day to come out. He gave a very reasonable estimate and was asked to return and perform the work.
Mr Phelps installed the spigot in little or no time, and I must say his quality of work is impeccable. I'll be calling on him again and again. I've already started recommending him to anyone in need of a plumber.
