I've owned 2 family homes since 1992 and have used a lot of different plumbers. It's tough to find a good experienced licensed plumber who really knows and understands how things work. When you use the big outfits with 20 guys working for them you don't know who you are going to get. I found Jim when I had already used 2 different plumbers who couldn't solve my heating system problem. He fixed it the first time and also blurted out that my first floor sink drain wasn't to code! I wasn't too happy to hear this when I called him for a heating problem. But he said, the first-floor drain isn't a big problem, they're just going to get back-ups. He was right, eventually 1st floor started getting back-ups. So for ""bedside manner"" I'd give Jim 3 stars. Sometimes he blurts out stuff you don't want to hear, but so far he's always been right. So for plumbing, he gets 5 stars. Also he's a ""one man show,"" uses a helper when there is heavy lifting involved. But he books his own appointments and does his own billing. I had a different heating system problem and Jim called me back to let me know he was out sick recovering from knee or shoulder surgery, so I called a different plumber. This other plumber told me I had an oxygen problem in my basement and wanted to bust a hole through the foundation and blow ""fresh"" air in?! This other plumber didn't have a great answer as to how I'd keep from getting frozen pipes in the winter...it was for my unit so I just ran a space heater til Jim recovered. Now I just use Jim. Sometimes, I have to call and ""remind"" him I'm still waiting...but he's worth waiting for.
Christine M.I called Jim because I was having trouble shutting off the water in a vacant condo. It would be empty over the winter and I was concerned about frozen pipes. He did come right over to shut the water off, but when I said I didn't have time right then for him to winterize the system, he said ""well it might be okay if we drain it."" I said I could make an appointment to have him come back the next week. The next week, texted me asking if he could come over right then. I explained I wasn't available and asked what his schedule was so we could set up a time that was mutually agreeable. Never heard from him again. Forward to spring, and now we have a broken pipe.
Needed emergency service on our furnace today and they were able to come quickly and did a great job. Highly recommended!
We needed to replace 30 plus year old the air handler and condenser as well as renovating the bathroom in our condo so we reached out to Jim again since he and his team had done an excellent job in replacing my parents' 60 year old boiler in 2013 and it has been working so well ever since and saved them tons of heating cost. Anyway, Jim was very responsive and efficient in arranging all the work and get everything done in a timely manner. Since we were not around that much, we had some concerns at the beginning about letting him decide on the right HVAC system for us but he was very patient and took time to answer our questions and addressed all the concerns. We could call him early morning or late evening and he was always available even though we could sometimes hear in the background that he was working at a job site. He and his team did an amazing job and we are happy with our new heating and AC system. Our new bath tub and toilet he chose for us looked great also. We even went online to make sure what he installed were good quality and they were.
In addition, when the pipe underneath our kitchen sink was leaked, we called and he came at 10:00pm to try to fix it. He then sent his worker out in the morning to replace the pipe for us. We are glad that we can trust him with all of our plumbing or heating problem.
Then my parents need a new hot water heater and we knew for sure whom to contact. Jim came out and after he inspected their tank, he advised us not to worry because the tank is still in good condition and could last a few more years. My dad was happy to hear that and we trust that Jim always gives us good advice.
Vipul J.Our furnace in the attic stopped working due to cold weather in beginning of January. Jim was kind enough to send a person right away for 200USD. His employee said that the transducer was broken due to ice build up and there is a need for whole system replacement which would cost 4800USD. I decided to wait and get a second opinion. As the weather warmed up, the whole system came to life with no issues.
I am glad that I waited else I would have ended up with a 5000USD bill at the end of the day given the fact that nothing was really wrong with the system. Now I have very little trust in this company and would not call them again.
Be careful when you decide to use them next time.
Called Jim when I furnaced wouldn't start and needed cleaning. Though he was quick to come, he said the furnace didn't need cleaning, but I should consider getting a new one.
He got it working, but 2 weeks later the furnace stopped running. I called again and he sent someone else out. I asked this person if he felt the furnace needed to be cleaned and he said YES. And that Jim would be calling to schedule the cleaning.
Jim called all right, but was telling me a needed a new furnace. My furnace was a ""problem"" furnace. I've only had 1 other issues in the 10 or so years living here. 2 issues a problem does not make.
So I called another person for a 2nd opinion. Here'e what I learned that Jim should have noticed:
1) The furnace DID need to be cleaned.
2) Jim installed the wrong nozzle.
3) Jim should have noticed the igniter needed to be replaced
4) A new gasket was needed around the flue pipe. Something Jim should also have noticed.
I think Jim didn't want to get his hand dirty. Just wanted to go get lunch like his little helper wanted.
So, I paid Jim for what? Nothing. A bad/wrong nozzle and that's it.
It cost me an additional $390 to get the true repairs and necessary cleaning done. Which I was glad to pay.
Jim, you can send me my $125 back if you like, but I know you won't.
Great company! Fixed my heater in the dead of winter as quickly as possible! Then came back when my AC wasn't working and fixed it, no charge, because it hadn't been hooked back up correctly. Jim and his guys are a very nice group and I would definitely recommend them!
Flo L.Hi Jim and his staff (Billy, etc.) are great plumbers.
Excellent response time and customer service.
I called him last October as my friend had referred me and my hot water heater died.
I had called my regular plumber (Chaffin's) and am still waiting for the return call.
Jim answered the phone, sent one of his plumbers to my house and within 4 hours -a new water heater was installed.
Two weeks ago, I had a dishwasher leak issue which turned into a large problem. Once again, they were at my house within two hours and helped me diagnose the issue.
Excellent customer service and billing documentation.
If you want to support a great small businsss, call them.

Michael M.My wife called Jim about installing a new Hot water heater in our home. He gave us a quote of TWICE the price of ANYONE else that we have contacted, and when my wife asked about what was included in the price and he actually LAUGHED at her. She said, ""okay, thank you!"" and then he hung up on her. Rude. I'd rather deal with the cold water and get an installation that wasn't $800 dollars overpriced than deal with this guy. This is just bad business.
