I have used Jim and Derek multiple times, I recently broke my gas line to my house and they showed up that afternoon and had it all fixed and working that day. Honest and reliable.

After Jim installed 2 new toilets for me a couple of years ago, one of them started rocking. I called Jim over a month ago to repair the now-rocking toilet. He advised he had just had knee surgery and things were busy and that he would call me in a day or two to schedule coming out within a week.

Three weeks went by and I never heard from Jim. By then, I had figured maybe he was on pain pills when we spoke and he forgot about my call. I didn't want to bug him if he was recovering, so I waited a full month before calling back.

I called him back last week and he straight up said he didn't have time to repair my toilet and to call someone else.

The other plumber that I also trust in town repaired the toilet today and said the problem was that the toilet had separated from the floor flange and that Jim had installed it to the faulty flange by using a wooden shim, which rotted over time and caused the toilet to rock from an unlevel flange. This, I was told, was a faulty installation that Jim should have repaired under warranty.

To be clear, this plumber has only spoken very highly of Jim Flores, so he wasn't just slamming a competitor.

Today's plumber was clear that in the long term we are looking at replacing the toilet flange, but in the meantime, he leveled the flange using a plastic shim which won't rot and two wax rings (Jim used one).

So, I'm dropping my original 5-star rating to 3. Due to the unreturned phone call, the telling me to find another plumber after a month waiting for him to call me back, and the discovery of a faulty installation, I'd say Jim Flores is now solidly in the average category for me.

The quoted hourly rate was similar to other plumbers, but they came as a team and would ask for twice the rate, which was fine if they were both qualified, but that was not the case. Jim seemed to have a lot of experience and I liked his work, but I couldn't say the same for the son given the quality of his work wasn't very good and Jim didn't check his work thoroughly.
