Proudly providing eco-friendly plumbing services, we focus on water conservation, rain gardens, and environmentally responsible installations. Through our Green Plumbing certification and training, Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing is well-versed in the principles of the water cycle, water infiltration, rain catchment, and innovative technologies that enhance water conservation.
I became the owner of Jim Dandy in early 2013. As a parent of four in this local community, I have spent 15 years in the plumbing industry. Jim Dandy has a rich history as a family-owned business since 1908, and we honor the values of our beginnings. Customers seek VALUE, a quality service at a fair price. The plumbing sector has a poor reputation, often stemming from commissioned plumbers and flat-rate pricing. The free estimate can be enticing; it’s hard to turn away someone who has entered your home. We advocate for clear pricing on the phone, offering hourly rates for our plumbing services. Our rates are generally 200 to 300% lower than those of our major competitors. Most plumbing issues are straightforward to diagnose, allowing us to provide reasonable estimates over the phone. I guarantee that we will strive to exceed your expectations and make your experience enjoyable.

Recommended Customer Reviews

The manager of Jim Dandy contacted me and worked with me to find a resolution. I was refunded the amount of the hour, and charged for a basic on-site fee, which was comparable to all the other plumbing companies in the area. Jim Dandy was friendly with their follow ups and helped resolve the situation and I appreciate it.

No stars. Below, I have included a letter I wrote to Jim Dandy informing them we would not pay their invoice. The short version is that their technician misdiagnosed our problem, did not do what I asked, negligently broke his snake inside our pipe, insulted my intelligence and told us we would need thousands of dollars of work to correct our problem. Subsequently, we hired another plumber who tested my analysis and easily fixed the problem.
Jim Dandy,
Your invoice is inaccurate in substance and mischaracterizes what happened. I will explain why we will not pay your invoice.
We had a good experience with your company on a similar issue in the past and asked that the same technician come out. We were told that the former technician was not available, and your company sent out a different technician.
When your technician arrived I explained that simultaneously, our bathtub and bathroom sink drains began to drain very slowly, indicating a clog in the line impacting both drains.
I suggested that the simultaneous problems pointed towards a clog beyond where the tub and the bathroom sink joined a main line. So, I recommended that the technician start by using the easier and more direct access from the sink, which did not have as many convoluted turns in the pipe to get to the main line.
The technician insisted that the problems were separately caused and decided that he wanted to snake the line from the tub access first to solve what he thought to be the separate tub problem.
While doing so, he broke the snake off inside the pipe.
He insisted that the pipe was completely blocked by rust causing the snake to break. Based on his theory, he claimed that we would need to tear up the ceiling downstairs in order to access and replace the entire pipe from the tub to the main line-- which would obviously cost thousands of dollars.
I responded that while he might be correct, it was also possible that by his own negligent operator error, the snake broke when he aggressively pushed the snake into a 90° turn in the pipe having nothing to do with the pipe being blocked by rust. I wanted him to rule out my original theory by attempting to snake out the line from the bathroom sink access.
He adamantly disagreed, and told me that he did not have another snake to try accessing from the sink anyway. In other words he refused to do what I asked.
Around this time, I brought in my neighbor who spent his entire career in the construction trade. He witnessed your technician insult me by telling me I didn't know anything about plumbing but that he, with five years of experience, was 100% sure that the problem was a pipe completely occluded by rust.
He wanted me to pay him for his time and schedule someone to rip up the ceiling downstairs and remove the pipe. I told him I was not going to pay him until I knew for certain that the problem was a rust-blocked pipe, rather than operator error, and required that he remove the broken snake from my line before leaving--so that we could at least get back to the point at which he arrived.
He had to call the company to bring out someone who would be able to remove the snake from the line, which fortunately he was able to do.
Two days later, I brought out a plumber who complied with my suggestion to start access from the bathroom sink. He discovered a hairball further down the line impacting both the sink and the tub, as I had considered. After removal, both the bathroom sink and the tub drainage flowed freely again.
Well, your technician was wrong, and broke his snake by over-aggressively and negligently challenging a turn in the pipe. He wasted our time, insulted me and caused us unnecessary distress.
I will not pay your incorrectly stated bill for what was in actuality negligent work.
Further, as someone who for the last 25 years worked as a litigation consultant to scores of attorneys in the area, I can tell you that your email's simultaneously CYA and threatening tag paragraph has no bearing on this matter. You are always liable for negligent work, and you are not able to enforce rules of a ""contract"" I never entered into.
I consider the matter closed.

UPDATE: They are now saying they were never at my parents condo association and that they have no damages. Real klassy!!!! (spelling and sacasm intended) Great to know you will cheat the elderly out of their hard earned money when all they wanted was you to do right by them and repair the damages! I will be posting reviews EVERYWHERE to include the better business burreau to tell just how low class you are.

I had some plumbing concerns And because of the positive reviews on yelp I decided to give this company a try. Cody and Mitch showed up and went under my house and educated me on plumbing and furnace situations. They will be back next week to help me with a furnace issue. I highly recommend this company and regard Cody and Mitch as highly valuable employees of this Trustworthy company.

This is my first ever yelp review, I don't write reviews because I don't care enough to make the effort so congrats for inspiring me Jim Dandy! Completely incompetent, it has been 3 weeks and the broken toilet is still not fixed. Have kept rescheduling appointments (4 times so far!) and keep ordering the wrong parts to fix the toilet.

good scheduling so far, the help desk is good at finding the right person for your need and let the technician phone you before the schedule time.

UPDATE: I'm much happier about my experience with Jim Dandy now :) - they called me and will refund the difference to make it what the price was supposed to be. The gentlemen on the phone were very apologetic and accommodating and I feel much better about my experience with them. Still don't know what happened with the compressor, but the water heater is known to have issues.
They said 235/hr when they came in - after 1.5 hours they were done and claimed it was 900. After a very condescending manager talked to me on the phone, I got them down to 850. There's obviously a lot more details but essentially they lied & misled me about the price. This is after the first visit in which the technician shocked himself on my water heater while being directed what to do via his manager over the phone.
Also, a week after their visit to install a control panel on my water heater another part on it (the compressor) failed, but when they left they made it clear they only would come back for free to fix only the parts they worked on - they didn't work on that part. It's 1.5 years old so it seems unlikely 2 separate parts would fail within a week of each other. How'd that happen?

I am very disappointed in Jim Dandy Plumbing. They came out to our house 3+ times, have charged us more than $3000 and were unable to find and fix our plumbing problems. They screwed up several smoke tests, misdiagnosed the problem, and failed to find 4 screw holes that were in our main ventilation pipe. When approached about the situation, they failed to return phone calls and stood us up on an appointment they said they would honor. Even one of their head guys came out and said it was either a natural gas or furnace issue - wrong! We have since hired an expert leak detector and an independent plumber who found the problem and have fixed the situation. I am extremely disappointed in Jim Dandy's lack of professionalism and area of expertise. It's a shame we are out so much money for so little they had to offer. I would not recommend them to anyone.

My hot water heater was old & it went out. I called and right away within an hour Josh had someone out to bring a replacement. The technicians name was devin. He was fast & showed me how to work everything. We are back in action right away! Thank you guys!

Had a new tankless hot water heater installed by Ryan and his apprentice back in January. Ryan did a great job and was super knowledgeable. A year later there was a small leak due to the metal expanding and contracting so nobody's fault. After fixing it there was some gray area about when the warranty was up. The new technician, Daniel R. was very understanding and had to make several phone calls. In the end they honored their warranty and the leak was fixed. I would definitely use them again and request Ryan .
