J and C plumbing was assigned to our home by AHS due to no hot water on July 4 weekend. The office manager called us 3x to expedite the diagnostic visit. J and C came earlier than expected having notified us they wanted to resolve the no hot water issue as soon as possible. The technician Steve was excellent. He carefully examined the boiler/hot water heater and was able to get the hot water back for us. He also diagnosed a problem with the boiler causing the hot water issue. J and C immediately contacted AHS and within an hour an HVAC specialist was assigned. Very professional and well done.
STAY AWAY!!! They were dispatched to us through our home warranty company and were the absolute worst. They lie (they claimed a part was on back order) and when the job seems like it was becoming too difficult for them, they said it was not covered and never came back. No wonder they seem to only get customers through home warranty companies when consumers don't have a choice.
Mark M.Very unprofessional company I wouldn't refer them to my worse enemy. My Mom had a plumbing emergency they sent a technician to the house who didn't fix anything and left my Mom with no heat and no running water. I talked to the owner about sending the technician back and they lied to AHS yelling them they had to order a part which the technician never told us. Knowing it was an emergency they told us it would take 3 to 5 days to fix the problem. When taking to the owner he told me it was ""my problem"". DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!
Worst company. Technicians are very rude and they run a scam working with American Home Shield. Do not use this company. They will take your money and not do any work
J C.If I could rate this company -1 I would. Very unprofessional. Took weeks to return my calls and only returned it after I left a voicemail saying I would go with another contractor. Had the displeasure of working with this ""plumbers"" through my AHS contract. The first service call the technician came and He did nothing, but turn on the faucet and leave. However, he determined that this was enough to claim AHS would not cover the issue in his paper work only after stating to us it was a quick fix and he would need to return with a missing part. Tried to schedule a follow up appointment through AHS only to have them cancel it without notice saying they would not return to evaluate the issue. Why they have a business when they don't want to even work or return calls is beyond me. If you have an AHS contract and receive this company to do your service request another contractor! They will gladly take your $100 service fee, without doing any work.
Sandy Y.our hot water heater broke, called and make an appointment, after waited for 3 hours, service person came and did nothing. less 3 mins of stay.,says boss call them for next job. I don't know why they here for, wasting my time and money.
if you read this review (and all others) BEFORE your service with JC Plumbers, PLEASE heed the advice of all others. Drop this company and go for a different one (even if its little expensive).
This plumber is not cheap, Most likely he was sent yo you by AHS. You can ask them not to send this company (BEFORE the very first visit) and request them to send some one else.
for the work that IS covered by AHS, he will include charges for a bunch of modifications that are NOT covered by AHS and you will have to pay out of pocket. So he is definately not cheap.
The work he does is substandard. you WILL have issues within a month or 2 (if not immediately). I had a water heater replaced, i had to pay the $100 AHS service fees and on top of that another 550 for modifications NOT covered by AHS (these modifications were not required as per 2 different contractors i called for 2nd opinion). However i still decided to go with JC PLumbers as my over all cost was coming lower (due to the fact that AHS was giving a heavily discounted water heater).
2 months later, i have leaks all over the place. If you try to call JC plumbers, at any time of the day or night, any day of the week, you will get an automated message asking to leave your name number and property address. with out that information they will not call you back (they wont call you back anyways)., they also say, you should refrain calling multiple times as then they wont call you back. Clearly from the information you leave they know they have serviced your house and you are calling back because of issues you have had so they know who not to call back.
getting through to AHS is another pain, over an hour wait to get in tough with any one!
American Home Shield made appointment with J&C plumbing. They did not show up and charged $100 via AHS. J&C Service is worst company that I have ever met.
TERRIBLE!!! American Home Shield is TERRIBLE too!!! DO NOT USE THEM EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. And I am not just saying this. Please please please trust me.
I'll add to the list of negative reviews of this company which created a nightmare for my home. As others, they were assigned to me by American Home Shield. My problem was the pilot light continuously going out on my A.O. Smith hot water heater. The heater is nine years old but had been working perfectly fine until the light went out, requiring me to manually relight it. I was able to schedule an appt. at the start with J & C Plumbing' relatively easily enough but things went downhill from there. Once they arrived their first order of business was to clean out under the heater (which was pretty much clean of any debris already) and then decided that the gas gauge needed to be replaced and did so, but the problem persisted. They came back another day and then said that there must be a venting problem and that I needed to have my chimney relined. Since my chimney is older, to have a new hot water heater installed (eventually) I'd need to bring it up to code, so decided to go ahead with this expensive ($1800) procedure.
The pilot light then stayed on for two days and went out again. In the space of a few days I had to relight the pilot light myself over a dozen times. For an unrelated issue I had a technician from PSE & G over and mentioned the problem with the hot water heater and the pilot light going out. Immediately he said 'you need to have the pilot light assembly replaced' and showed me the actual unit of which he had one in his truck.
I called J & C again and they never returned any of my phone calls. Every time you try to get through to them you get a recording! I called 4 times on a Friday to schedule an appt. and never heard back.
This is the short version of the story and there was much calling between American Home Shield and trying to get through to J & C by AHS and myself. Finally AHS got through to them and they came back for a third time yesterday. The technician this time seemed a bit perplexed by the whole thing and was on the phone with the heater company (A.O. Smith) asking them what to do! I told him how the PSE & G guy said it was the pilot light assembly that needed to be replaced and showed him the photo of the part I took. He took a photo of that from my phone. He said he'd call in to AHS to get authorization for the part and would be back later that day or the next. (which would have been today). A little while later after not hearing anything, I called AHS and they even said this was unacceptable as the problem had been going on for 3 weeks! They said they'd call the company again and I had to wait. An hour or so later I get a call from AHS telling me that the technician from J&C said there was nothing wrong with the hot water unit and that it must be a venting problem...are you kidding me!??!! They said they never even got a request to put in the pilot light assembly - the most common sense thing to do!!
I got very upset at this point...I'm usually a calm person and don't like to take my frustrations out on the workers that aren't involved but sometimes you really need to! They said they could send another company but I would have to pay the $100 fee if they did. I said that is ridiculous and told them all the issues and finally the worker relented and set up an appt with another company to come look at the issue for no additional charge. That company (All Clear Plumbing) came the same day they were contacted and went ahead getting the authorization to replace the pilot light assembly. They retrieved the part from their warehouse, came back and successfully installed it and four hours later the pilot light is still on. So far, so good and seemingly problem solved. Something that could have been done three weeks ago when J & C first came here!
So, I will say that aside from lack of knowledge of the situation, they were terrible for never returning phone calls and for falsely telling AHS that the unit was in working order!
A terrible, terrible company that I will obviously never use again.
