Horrible company, Horrible people that run the office. Barely answer the phone, calls go unreturned, sloppy work. Just unprofessional. Basic startup service wasn't done right. Sprinklers weren't properly adjusted to water entire lawn & knicked a line when trenching to install a French drain. Everytime it rains the light post doesn't come on. Do yourself a favor & find a reputable, professional irrigation company. Avoid James River Irrigation.

Terrible decline of what was a great company. Did first work for me 15 years ago. Added a zone for us for when our house plants were outside in summer. Used them for repairs over the years.

Last year, had a leak, tech came out fixed the leak only to create a crack down the pipe. Had to call them back to repair it. The tech was not happy, grumbled about ""...old systems"".

This year left a voice mail as my backflow valve failed and the zone they put in had a leak. No response! A week later left another voice mail. NO response. A week later left a third voice mail. NO RESPONSE!!!

I guess it was too difficult for them. I went out and bought the necessary parts, replaced backflow, dug up leak, replaced broken PVC. All good (not bad for a 73 year old!) In my opinion, DONT HIRE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU WANT A QUALITY AND RESPONSIVE COMPANY!

Overall I'm satisfied. Getting an estimate didn't take long, and the estimate (and final price) were reasonable. The work was solid and done faster than expected. (They installed a french drain leading to an underground pipe that drains through a hole in a retaining wall. Drilling through the wall, which is probably 50+ years old, without breaking it was my primary concern, and they handled it well.) I got a discount for requesting to schedule in December. My only quibble is that after putting down a deposit in October and being told that they would follow up with me in December, I didn't see anything more until I followed up in late December. (It's not a big deal; James River apologized.)

we have had good service from JR both times they've come out to our house. they've been in time and fixed our irrigation issues. My only quibble is that I wish they would inform you of the price at the time of service.

Great experience! Technician (Brad) was knowledgeable and extremely friendly and willing to explain to me what and how he was doing each task. I appreciated the quick response to my call.

I am reading the older reviews and find it hard to believe we are talking about the same company. So, as a company if you made changes it worked. I would refer you to my friends.

James River Irrigation is a disrespectful and a dishonest company that will cause damage to your home when they are working on a customers home. James River Irrigation is deliberately flooding my property after being told that the job they did to the customer next door will cause even more negligence. How does a company in the community not care about potential customers that they may affect? I can see why they have such piss poor reviews online.

For two years in a row we were taken for a ride with this company. In fall of 2018 they came out and did not accomplish anything. Received a $200. Bill for what exactly? Fall of 2019 again, let's see if we can get this system up and running. They say they will fix and get our system up and running but have not. My Husband did all the digging for the person James River sent. He dug around heads, found the heads and helped the person who came here. Of course he said again, I will be back to finish this. In the meantime we received a bill for over $200. Never a follow up call to schedule anything. Just as we did the year before. Don't waste your time or your money. This company is not reliable.

Requested quote. Guy came out. Seemed nice enough, but said he had to talk to his boss and never got back to me even though I stressed that needed to get the work done before seeding.

Might be a good outfit, but if you can't get to it or don't want to, just say so.

James River Irrigation came to my house to blow out our system for winterization and upon completion a pipe was snapped, a value was broken and water was running uncontrollably out of the system. James River Irrigation denied responsibility for the break. However they sent a technician out to cap the pipe. Water conitues to flow out of the system and although I called yesterday to ask them to stop the water flow immediately, I have to wait 6 days for a technician to come fix the breaks and stop the constant water flow. This is unacceptable!
