Our heating system plumbing needed some repairs before winter, and we of course called James. He and his assistant have been professional, capable, and responsive. Couldn't be happier with his design, remodeling, and repair.

James Burkett is THE plumber to call if you want to pay market rate and yet have someone cut corners endangering your home and family.

I hired James to run a gas line (let me repeat that, A GAS LINE) to a new stove and to replace the water heater at the same time. He did not pull a permit for the gas line, which, of course would have meant that in the event of a problem, like,...er...an explosion, my insurance would have paid nothing. He also did not install the line up to code requirements.

When I asked him why he didn't install a permit, he said, ""We master plumbers can do these things."" LOL.

I tried to reason with James for weeks, which then turned into months, asking him to please pull a permit. I finally decided to go to WSSC and have them issue him a citation. And THAT'S what it took to get James Burkett to install the gas line properly. Ugh. So much aggravation caused by this man. And you know the worst part of it? I'm pretty sure I went to high school with this local boy. Yuck.

I needed a copper line rerouted for a radiator in March 2013. He sent two hacks with nothing more than a torch and clumsy habits. After three hours of fishing for parts and scratching their heads they wound up flooding out a bedroom. I called James, who said he would make the situation right, and asked that I not call Serv-Pro, etc., for clean up. He committed to surveying the damage the next day, and did not. Told me had some issue with his mother, did not hear from him for days. In the meantime, he cashed my check for $500. After a couple weeks of run-around it was easier to write off that amount, plus approximately a grand in other damages and many headaches with much wasted time.
