Dina D.My husband and I have had nothing but the very best & and outstanding service regarding our plumbing, and gas, problems in our home, while using the JH Beutjer Plumbing Company. We have used Jim, and his crew, and his amazing wife, for too many years to count. They have always been available to our needs, and even during the most dire times, they have always made time to make sure we had our plumbing (and gas issue) needs taken care of in a timely and efficient manner. We both highly recommend Beutjer Plumbing to and for anyone needing people who really know their trade. R & D dV
It was a weekend and suddenly I had no hot water. Checked the basement and there was a huge puddle of water. Called a bunch of plumbers who were willing to come out but said they would charge a weekend fee and an estimate fee & travel fee, before even quoting labor. Jim Beuatjer was professional, came out and replaced the water heater and even removed the old one free of charge. The water heater was an upgrade and he and his assistant even swept up the area after the installation was complete. He didn't charge a travel fee and the cost for the water heater was near wholesale (based on my google search). He was respectful, and even billed me later and said if I needed to send him payments, he would work out an arrangement. Not many care and have the respectful nature that he demonstrated. Very professional, attention to detail, careful with installation and took his time. If I ever have plumbing problems again, I would definitely call him.
Very unhappy, felt he took advantage of us what should if been 1,000 even less ended up almost 3,000 and the job wasnt even done. This was to put in a tub and the fixtures only...He put in the wrong hard wear plus while.Sitting in his 3 vans ( three men) we were being charged. Plus charged from where they were to us.never remember what we talked about before the job and wanted all things his way!
Hold your wallet better yet hide your wallet even better never call James Harold Beutjer Plumbing. I would not let this guy in my house to change my toilet paper.
NEVER CALL THIS GUY. I am over 50 years old and have had a number of projects over the years and have dealt with many workers / companies for our projects. Some good ones and some bad ones BUT this guy was the absolute worst.
Where to start. The project was new tile for the bathtub/ shower walls and new tile for the floor. As long as the walls were exposed we figured a new shower fixture and hardware. So that's why we needed a plumber.
We called James Harold Beutjer Plumbing, he came by to look at the job. For the shower fixture he said 130/hour and he would install our fixture but would not warranty it but if we had him provide the fixture it would include a warranty. We said ok as long as it was brushed nickel, he have us models to pick from and we picked one He also suggested as long as we were doing this work why not a new tub and toilet. My wife and I early on debated this but wanted to keep cost down. I asked him how much and he said 400 for the tub delivered and 2-300 for a toilet. Plus labor about 3-4 hours 2 guys, for the tub & shower fixture and another hour for the toilet and finish shower hardware. . BUT he would know for sure once everything was removed and he could see everything. RED FLAG
It worth noting that this project was purely for cosmetic reasons the bathroom was 25 years old and style wise a bit dated BUT everything worked fine, and we have been in this house for over 15 years and have never had a problem. We did some quick math and figured for the plumbing work of new shower fixture and with the added toilet and tub about 1000 in material and 1100-1200 in labor.
So, the day comes to remove and install the tub and James Beutjer says he can't because the tile guys did not remove enough of the subfloor to get the tub out. So he at least does the initial shower fixture work and leaves.
So we have a meeting of the tile guys and James Beutjer Plumbing. He says he needs the floor removed at least so far back so he can not only get the tub out but also to cut a bigger hole around the toilet are to see what going on. WHY I have no idea and that the collar / flange of the toilet has to go above the tile so he needs room to work and possibly raise the pipe. The tile guys mentioned that they have never seen the flange on top of tile BUT the plumber says this is "" to code"". He also mentions that X amount of the wall needs to be cut out to make room for the tub removal and install. He NEVER mentioned this up front NOW I got drywall work to do outside the tub area.
So, our tile guys prep the area to the plumber's requirement. He comes with TWO other guys so we now have 3 plumbers. They remove / install the tub. BUT he puts in Chrome hardware in the tub. Then he moves to the toilet sees some dry wall in the toilet drain area ( some must have fell in there from the extra drywall removal) within eye sight and hand length to pick out. BUT sends one of guys back to his shop to get a camera scope to see more. He then says our drain is not pitched right and he needs to cut a 12 long hole in our kitchen ceiling and go to our master bath which is right behind the bathroom we are working and remove part of that wall to "" SEE MORE"" .
At that point we said enough and it was time for him to leave.
So the only work he did was put a new fixture in the exposed shower area remove /install the new tub. And provided the tub BUT with the wrong tub hardware installed . Total bill $2937.00.
BTW his time clock starts from when he leaves his house. He had one guy just be a goffer and was sitting around most of the time. We I called him out on this he said he mentioned all of this up front.
To finish the project we STILL had to buy install the shower hardware, buy install the toilet and replace his wrong tub hardware.
