Avoid J Blantons Plumbing company at all costs. They will try to scamm you by over charging you. At least ten times over what an honest and professional plumber will charge you. At least in my case the estimater. Tried to pass himself off as a state inspector. Stating that his position gave him authority over the lical cities inspectors and code inforcers. What an obvious big fat lier he his. They are not getting any work from me ever. And you as well, just read all the other complaints against this company. And its employees.
Tanyu J.They came for a leaky toilet base.
Asked for $589 to replace the wax ring on the toilet. I asked him how much an hour do you charge? The ring is $10 at Home Depot.
This was a rip off.
I told them goodbye and I will never come back.
I understand you want to make money but this was ridiculous. Stay away. I don't know how did they get all these good reviews on Google. Makes me not thrust the reviews.
Stay away.
Brian R.I've gone back and forth with them regarding the billing. It was unclear when we purchased services the cost and they did not verify the cost with me, the owner, ahead of time. After they agreed to take a PDP and Camera off the bill, they never did. I've disputed with the credit card company. Once a reputable plumber in the area I can see they are heading in a bad direction. When I compared costs after the fact it does appear they are price gouging. I strongly encourage future customers, especially those naive on buying pluming services, to ask for a written quote from a few places. If they pressure you in an emergency situation at least get the quote in writing and make sure it's clear who is responsible for authorizing work.
J. Blanton Plumbing Company technicians go out of their way to make sure that their customers are completely satisfied with their plumbing services .
There was a second issue that I needed to address with my plumbing needs and Jake the technician took care of the business in a professional timely manner.
TLDR 2350.00 for cartridge replacement.
Called them to replace a shower cartridge and simple pull up diverter. They quoted 1750.00 just for the cartridge replacement
(guessing the diverter would have been several hundred more) after showing up a little late (which was no big deal they did a good job at letting me know).
I provided the cartridge hoping to keep costs down and he said it would be 650 more if I had not and he had to go looking for it. The gentleman that showed up seemed very nice and professional and perhaps it's not his fault about the pricing, but it's absurdly high. I told them I was not interested. So I'm not mad it was nothing out of my pocket, just genuinely curious why they are so expensive. I tried to get an estimate for cartridge replacement which everyone I talked to along the way. They should have ball park pricing available for run of the mill fixes so they don't waste peoples time and people don't waste theirs. Two stars is because their processing was good and the guy seemed nice enough. But who can afford that for a relatively run of the mill plumbing service call.
J Blanton has solved 2 major plumbing problems this year in condo where building is 25 yrs old. Two different J Blanton plumbers resolved these issues. One job took only an hour or so, the other about 12 hrs (almost 2 decades ago, the remodeling plumber had not done the new install to code, so this year's repair job became a massive install job ..., but no complaints from plumber, as he simply applied his skills). Both areas look as good as new, now.
We had a very poor experience with this company. They are very aggressive with sales, but incompetent with everything else. Technicians showed up multiple times without the correct tools or items scheduled to be installed. They incorrectly diagnosed an issue, and we are now out thousands of dollars. DO NOT USE J BLANTON PLUMBING!!!
On August 11th, 2024, we discovered a foul odor in our basement and decided to reach out to J. Blanton Plumbing Sewer & Drain. Despite two earlier visits that were both pleasant and overpriced, we scheduled an appointment for the next day, August 12th, between 8 AM and 12 PM. By 1 PM, not only had no one arrived, but we also hadn't received a single call. My husband had to take time out of his day to call and check in, only to be informed that our appointment had been shifted to the afternoon. He updated them with my contact information as he left for work.
I waited anxiously, only to be repeatedly let down. By 4 PM, with still no sign of a technician, I called again and was assured that our appointment was still on schedule. Fast forward to 6:36 PM--after hours of wasted time--I was forced to reschedule because no one was going to be home. Despite an apology, the rescheduled appointment was once again a failure, moving from an 8 AM to 12 PM window to 9 AM to 1 PM, with zero communication and no technician in sight.
This entire ordeal has been nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of professionalism, complete disregard for our time, and utter failure to communicate are inexcusable. Not one courtesy call to inform us of the constant changes. J. Blanton Plumbing Sewer & Drain has proven to be unreliable, disrespectful, and a total waste of time. I wouldn't recommend their services to anyone who values their time or money.
Tony V.I've used J Blanton in the past (for big multi-day & small jobs) & recommended them to many friends, but won't be doing so anymore.
Technician was kind but spent more time trying to upsell me on a plumbing subscription than it took him to replace an emergency gas shutoff valve for our stove, which he charged over $1200 for! It was an emergency given my wife is pregnant and due in 3 weeks (without a stove or hot water) so we were stuck agreeing just to be done with it, but that pricing is insane...
When I asked for a quote for sewer rodding from an access in my unfinished basement, he quoted 3x what the previous owner had paid last year & we had quoted from Goode in-person last month.
The technician was kind and understanding but it's clear J Blanton has raised their prices exorbitantly and are pushing new schemes like the subscription. This definitely isn't his fault but greedy choices from leadership instead.
Check their most recent Yelp reviews (instead of just Google) and you'll see similar complaints about their pricing compared to peers. I'm bummed because they are good people & again, a nice technician but I'm so disappointed by the company and won't ever use or recommend them again.
I booked a plumber from J Blanton to come out today to deal with an emergency. The appointment was confirmed and I was given a five hour window. After asking all of my neighbors to be home to give access to their units and after waiting four hours for the plumber to arrive, I called to see what the status was. Only then was I told that the appointment was canceled by the dispatcher without notifying me. I was informed I am no longer in their service area despite them providing services to my unit previously.
