On 12/18/2021 Island Mann plumbing & Drain cleaning arrived at my home. He was there to replace 11 shut off valves that had calcium buildup and two toilets that had internal leaks. I started off with the toilet in the guest bathroom that had water leaking into the bowl then I moved on to the toilet in the downstairs masterbed room bathroom room that made noise but the leak was not like the other draining into the bowl this toilet made noise you could leak the leak but was not as visible as the other. Then I proceeded to show him all the shut off valves that needed repair the main one in the garage, the washing machine the toilets basically all the valves the my home needed attention. After the tour the tech then starts to tell me that my home warranty would not cover my shut off valves. I said to him that "I had her check my contract and she said that shut off valves are covered in my contract". He then stated that "the people that answeat the phone don't know they are not plumbers ." Ge said he would check but knew that the valves would not be covered. While looking at the shut off upstairs he said it just needed tightening because it dripped water so he did something to it but that did not stop the drip . We moved on to the master bathroom where he stated he had replaced the flapper In that toilet. I had to take a call so I left him for for i moment when I returned he was heading out of the bathroom stating that it was all done . I was like wow you are fast he said that toilet is all quiet now. (I did not check to see if I fact the toilet was quiet but took his word . He the started on the guest bathroom toilet he removed the tank but stated he need part I told him I had part that I had purchased some time ago S my brother was going to fix that toilet but did not get around to it. He used my parts put the toilet back together and closed the door I agIn took his word that the toilet was repaired. (A very big mistake).
He then said he would make a call to the home warranty co to see if the shut off valves would be covered . He went outside for a bit then returned to me with a $600.00 estimate for the valves say yes I was right they won't cover the valves but we can fix them for this price. I declined. later About 12:00 I went to use the guest bathroom and was horrified that the entire bathroom floor was covered with wafter and was about to spill out into my foyer which is hard wood . I grabbed everything piece of cloth I cou find to try to soak up the water. Since the toilet bathroom shut off valve did not work I had to run out side I. The dark and it had rain that day . he left the hole open cause he had to shut the water off in Oder to take the tank off the toilet . The hole was full of water and mudd but I had to turn the water off . I had no water I. My home because the so called professional turned an internal leak to an external leak and it was on a weekend . This is by far the worst experience I can imagine. This company I called and left messages and no one from this company has callEd me at all . oh let me not forget that since he did such a terrible job on the guest bathroom I went to the other toilet to see if he at least fix it . I could not believe that the toilet was making the same noises as before. I called my warranty co to let them know of my experience with the tech and to tell him that he did not repair anything but caused my guest bathroom to leak . i told my warranty co that if they had an exclusive contract with this co I was going to cancel I don't ever want this co to do work in my home again this tech was the worst ever and the company did not follow up . If I could give them a zero I would!

Would Not Hire This Company!!!!
Island Mann Plumbing overcharge for mediocre work, customer service is rude and unreliable, cause more stress to the homeowner.
If I had known hiring this company would cause more problems, I would have hired a much better, professional company to deal with.
My paraplegic son was without his shower and bathroom for over a month because the company could not get their act together. I was informed by their technician Nick that he would provide a breakdown of the job detailing everything they did to give to my insurance company. He lied to make the sale because when I asked for an itemized invoice to provide to my insurance company, they would Not provide an itemized invoice. They don't want to show that the work they actually did was Not worth the outrageous amount they charged.
The job is still not completed, my paraplegic son has no sink in his bathroom, and my floors are not completed from the water damage I had to begin with.
Also, I found out that the revolving credit they had me apply for Only works with Island Mann Plumbing! :( Great!!! :(
In July, I had them come back out to finish my floors because the water damage ruined my carpet. Their technician Eric had Island Mann Plumbing draw up an invoice, and the project was set in July. Here we are in August, and I just found out that my project was canceled.
No One communicated with me in any way to advise me that my project would not be done!
I am now sending emails, phone calls, and text messages, and no one is Returning my calls or My Money!
I need my money back to hire a better, competent company to finish my water-damaged home. I can't believe how they treat a paraplegic young man or their current customers.
Very Poor Service on the part of Katherine Mann, Nick, Eric, Rudi V., Anthony, and their rude customer service agent who raises her voice and hangs up the call on you.
Please do your homework first; better companies out there can help your family with your plumbing situations.
Customers are already dealing with plumbing sewage backup, water damage, leaks, or other plumbing situations. Also, dealing with insurance claims that take forever, mortgage companies that make you jump hoops to get the reimbursement endorsed, and also dealing with getting the house repaired, customers Don't need Island Mann Plumbing adding to their stress!

This company was sent by American Homeshield to assess a leak in the water heater shut off valve as well as pilot light not working. The manager, Mr. Raymond, was prompt to call and schedule a technician to come out August the 2nd 2021 as the request was generated July 31st 2021. The technician, Mr Nick, came out and within 5 minutes assessed that the water heater needed replacement. He submitted the request to AHS with all kinds of modifications which totaled to $1873. The water heater is covered under the policy, however, the modifications are not. When I called AHS, the itemized modifications submitted made no sense. For example, each part seemed to be needing modification. I called the technician he didn't seem to know the details(even though he had submitted the modification request). He was rude, got me confused with another customer and very condescending. The average heater cost, Rheem, is $600 to $800 (50 gallon) and for labor and installation through any other plumbing company is around $1800 to $2000. I requested to speak to the manager regarding why all these modifications are needed? Why I need to pay $190 for the permit? Whereas there is no permit required in SL and even if you do pull a permit it is free. The dispatch lady, Ms. Ashley, said Mr. Raymond was unavailable to talk. This is their final assessment.
Very disappointed with this company and their ridiculous response. My first experience with this company was good but the second time it is very disappointing. What a scam. It seems like they want to make as much money as possible and take advantage of a customer's hardship.
Service: Install water heater

Used them through my home warranty, very reliable and knowledgeable service, he even showed me how to fix the issue for next time.

Let me start with the good. I hired Island Mann Plumbing to unclog a drain in my rental unit in January 2021, and the service my guest received was exceptional. The plumber communicated very well and completed the task on time and the cost was very reasonable.
Now cut to this past week. I contacted Island Mann and inquired about a garbage disposal replacement. I was contacted by the plumber (Nick) within the expected time frame, so we are off to a good start. I provided Nick access to my rental unit and he called to give me the 411 on my disposal. He confirmed that a disposal replacement was indeed necessary but he noticed that my hot water heater was 9 years old and that I should consider replacing it. He added some technical jargon about how my current heater did not have a safety cutoff valve and in the event of a break, how many gallons of water could potentially flood my unit in the event of a failure. I, of course, took note of how a break could impact my future unit rentals so I asked how much it would cost to replace said water heater. Nick said that he could replace the water heater and disposal for roughly $3,600.00. I gasped at the price tag but Nick assured me that there were several finance options available such as, 12 months same as cash, and a couple of other traditional finance options that would require a credit check. I told Nick that I would discuss it with my wife. The next day I spoke to Nick and let him know that the price he quoted me was a lot more than I had hoped to pay and that I was going to shop the competition for a better price. Nick was quick to advise that he wanted to "earn my business" and he could omit the cutoff valve and that would bring the cost down to $2,700.00. I told him that this was still too high but asked how much he would charge to just replace the disposal. He made some calculations and said that it would cost $648.00. I then asked if he could give me a breakdown of this cost and his reply was that I could ask "the office" for the breakdown as he got his prices from "the book." I asked Nick what type of disposal he would be using and he said the Badger 5 so while I was talking to him I checked the Home Depot website and it cost $109.00 plus tax. Since he wasn't able to give me a breakdown of the cost I shared with Nick that I found it for $109.00 at Home Depot and I assume he would get it a wholesale cost and add a markup so I estimated that the disposal would cost me about $150.00 and that left approximately $500.00 for the labor. I then asked him point-blank, "you mean to tell me that are charging about $500.00 in labor for replacing a garbage disposal?" He quickly hid behind what "the book" said but he would call his boss and get back to me. At some time during our conversation, Nick said that an email was sent to me with a link to authorize and pay for the job. I advised Nick that I would shop around for a better price and to hold off on doing anything. I replied to the email with the link and asked them to just send me an invoice for the service call. I am appalled that Island Mann Plumbing's practice is to seek out other high-ticket items to repair rather than focus on what was requested. Please note that I never asked anyone at Island Mann to look at my hot water heater nor did I ask anyone to wander through my apartment looking for the hot water heater! I have yet to receive that service call invoice, which I'll gladly pay. Regardless, I will NEVER use Island Mann Plumbing again. If there are any competitors out there with integrity who want to really earn my business please do not hesitate to reach out.

Terrible company with unprofessional unqualified employees. They sent out a child with no experience. He came out and ran a snake for 5 minutes then spent the next 30 minutes writing notes, then told us that the hold is to long for him and left. No update nothing, I personally had to call his company 3 times only for them to tell me he was off already and he would not be back for 2 days and I would have to wait for an update

Horrible. Way over priced and bad advice, so very unhappy w their service. The good new is they refunded my payment without a problem.

Our historic home on the historic district in Galveston. We lost all our plumbing under the house and some pipes in the house. The team gave a fair price. Elijah and Ricardo worked in the house three days. They went above and beyond on this plumbing job. The guys stayed late on Friday to get one shower running not leaving until almost 6 p.m. after being here all day. Everything they did was fairly priced. They easily could have taken advantage and they did not everything was fair.
At times during this job, they had 4 to 5 guys working on the house.
They are respectful of our home, before they did any work they shared the price and it was up to us. This is a five star company and so impressed. During a very challenging time, they took care of us.
Sincerely
Dr. Brian Malechuk and Mr. Kevin Melgaard

02/25/2021 Worst experience. First, they lied about the plumbing they installed in my house. They sold me on the emphasis that the pipes are expanding pipes and will not burst in case of a hard freeze. Well, that was a lie! The pipes busted and water was all over my kitchen. Secondly, the crew that came and installed my plumbing (all plumbing in house was replaced) TRASHED my house and yard. I found black rubber gloves everywhere, I found trash everywhere, including all over my back yard and in my walls where they had to remove sheet rock to install new plumbing. Cans, water bottles, food wrappers, chip bags etc all over my property from the plumbing crew. I had asked them to clean it up before they left and they said they would but chose not to. When they removed the old pipes to install the new pipes they had a scrap man come by to take the old pipes away and they decided to break apart the old pipes by hitting them on the ground with other parts of old pipes to where sludge was flinging everywhere and got all over my wood fence. They were going to leave it there caked onto my fence until I noticed it and said something. So, they started to clean off the sludge and when I came out afterwards I saw that instead of scrubbing the wood fence they decided to scrape the wood fence to where now my wood fence is damaged. Pieces of the fence are broken off and the area is rough, ruined and looks really bad. Lastly, they had a plumber trainee with them the first day that they came to remove & replace my plumbing and he proceeded to hit on me, say very very inappropriate things, tried to grab my body and kiss me and then proceeded to expose himself to me. The owner Raymond & his secretary Rudy Bolton yelled at me, spoke over me, were condescending, belittling & just mean......conveniently after I spent over $15,000 with them for my plumbing to be replaced. Raymond is arrogant and unkind. Rudy Bolton is unprofessional, lacks communication skills & is a liar. Don't trust them! Awful & pathetic experience. BEWARE!
03/12/2021 Update: well, hasn't gotten any better it's been issue after issue. I have asked the manager Anthony & other receptionists to have the owner Raymond call me on at least four different occasions and he has never returned my phone calls. What kind of owner does not return the call of an unsatisfied customer?!?? Today I spoke to the manager Anthony and conveyed my frustration and unhappiness with the handling of my issues and he continued to speak over me, not listening to a word I was saying. Just disgusting & shameful. I feel taken advantage of by this company

A complete inept business that preys on people. They said that this plumbing job at my house was not covered by my warranty (American Home Shield), due to wear and tear. Well it just so happens that I've read through their plans and AHS does in fact cover wear and tear. I have a high feeling that this company wanted a quick no work job and get the 75$ service fee and leave without having to do absolutely anything besides quoting their own extravagant price of around 400$ to fix this issue. Do not fall for this company and if chosen as the contractor by AHS, specifically tell them not to use this company. You've treated one customer wrong, but imagine the possibilities of other businesses you've just lost Island MANN. What a terrible company and a disrespect to the plumbing industry
