I had a great experience with Friedman Irwin & Son! J was accommodating to my busy schedule and was able to come fix my toilet on a traditional holiday. The toilet in my apartment is of an older generation, so when a certain plumbing company (rhymes with Moto' Scooter) came in to do an estimate, I was told the entire system needed to be replaced and would cost upwards of $475 plus tax!! Absolutely not. When J came in and actually took a look at what was going on, he was able to replace a small part of the flush valve and it only cost me $150 for the whole time he was there, which only ended up being about 45 mins.
I would absolutely recommend J and Friedman Irwin & Son for your plumbing troubles!

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy our finicky toilet got clogged again. Within 45 minutes these guys were at our apartment taking care of things. Really appreciated the speed and professionalism. Will use again, if needed!

I needed the boiler repaired because it just started getting cold. I called to ask about how much they charge and they said it was $125/hr...fine so they came took an hour and the bill was over $270! I appreciated it that they came right away --the boiler wasn't broken..it was clogged...so no parts were needed--so why the large bill? Because they charge travel time! They never mentioned that when I asked about the cost..funny how that works....I think I'm going back to school to study plumbing because that's where the moneys at! They should really think about changing their ways because next time anyone in building needs something..they won't be on the top of my list...--but they did fix my problem and came on same day so I'm glad about that-please guys just tell people what it's really going to cost.

DO NOT USE THIS PLUMBER. I called him to replace my faucet and he charged me $300 plus I paid for the faucet. I blindly chose this guy because of the reviews on Yelp and I got totally screwed. From the time they got her until the time they left, including when they left my apartment to get the faucet it was 2 hours. That is $150 an hour. Taking advantage of people won't get you far in life. GOOD LUCK

My roommate had accidentally flushed a pork bone down the toilet. After more than a week of trying to unclog the toilet on our own, I called these guys today.

The woman who answered the phone was very friendly and efficient. I was expecting that I'd have to make an appointment for tomorrow at best, but she informed me she'd get someone to my place same day.

Jay called about two hours later to make sure I was home and then promptly showed up. He unclogged the toilet quickly - although with some obvious effort, which I appreciated. He was also quite friendly and told me a few stories that made me laugh.

Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I wish I had just called him right away, rather than wasting money and time trying to fix it myself. Quick, fairly priced, friendly and honest... I'll definitely call again the next time my roommate pulls a bonehead move.

Also, good to know that they accept cash or checks.

Jay answered my call even though he was already on vacation before memorial day weekend. He sent two serviceman over that same afternoon (within hours) and they fixed my water heater in 45 mins. He even checked in with me via text message after the appt to make sure everything was good. Thanks Jay! A great service in the neighborhood.

I manage a hotel in Williamsburg and will continue to use Friedman's services after today's experience. I phoned at 10:00am in a panic after a guest's toilet flooded and my engineer couldn't correct the issue after 2 hours of snaking.

Friedman's technician arrived 10 minutes after my call and had the issue corrected within 10 minutes. I would highly recommend giving them a call.
