Beware of Iron Horse Plumbing

I will not use Iron Horse Plumbing again. Thomas, of Iron Horse Plumbing, was hired to install replacement appliances in my 92-year-old father's condominium. Shortly after Thomas connected the dishwasher, it developed a leak that was not detected until damage appeared in the condominium unit below. Damage to both units was extensive and expensive.
Thomas originally agreed to take responsibility for the damage and pay for the repairs. Later, he denied responsibility, refused to pay for the repairs, and threatened court action if he was not paid immediately. I have no trust in a plumber who denies responsibility for leaks in pipe connections that developed soon after he works on them and is so ready to threaten court action.

When my water heater broke down and I started calling around for quotes on getting a new one installed, Tom was the only guy who said "I can come check it out right now". He showed up on time and did the job that day at a very fair price.
While he was working, he pointed out a section of pipe that was in need of some attention. No hard sell, just a recommendation. When I needed some other plumbing work done, I didn't hesitate to call Tom to ask him to do both jobs.
Friendly guy, good work, good prices. Highly recommended.

If you need a good plumber, Tom is the guy to call. He's reliable, friendly, efficient, trustworthy and very nice. He's super easy going and is very helpful to figure out what is wrong. He won't charge you over $100 just to take a look. He's fixed a valve in our bathroom and a water heater at my work. My work project took three visits and some testing and in the end, he only charged me $125.00. And if he could not fix it, he was not going to charge me!

Driving down the street and this haole keeps staring at my daughter. I looked at him and it didn't even phase him. He kept following us in the lane next to us , I actually had to slow way down just so I wouldn't have to come by him anymore. So be careful if you hire him with children present .

No customer service skills. Not a good listener and unprofessional customer service skills. Not too concerned with the customer care and their personal plumbing needs. Promised work not delivered as originally stated will contradict prior work recommendations after service.
He is history in my opinion. Needs to listen to himself more.

The manufacturer of our water heater Stiebel Eltron recommended him to us.
Prior to Tom we had calls out to three plumbers with no response.
I called Tom on Thursday he answered promptly and we set an appointment for Saturday at 6:30 am.
He arrived promptly and he installed the parts necessary.
We did have to call an electrician to put in a new circuit breaker to get power to the water heater.
Tom called the next day inquiring about the heater which worked fine! I was pleasantly surprised that anyone would follow up when their work was completed. He was honestly concerned.
The next day the heater overheated and I texted Tom. He immediately called me back and told me what to do until he could get there the following morning!
Again he arrived on time and figured out the new problem and fixed that too.
I haven't had customer service like that in years! He was getting some calls for service by other people and still stayed as long as needed to solve our problem.
I highly recommend Tom and Iron Horse plumbing to anyone in need of service.
And he came from the opposite side of the island too!!

DITTO, BEST PLUMBER in Honolulu! Tom has been our plumber for four years. We used him to completely redo the plumbing in our home, and also to redo parts of our gas line. We own a house and a condo, and he has been helpful for repairs on both. He is very reliable, professional and easy to work with. I got referred to Iron Horse from my friend who does remodeling. Got a call back pretty quick from Tom and I was able to text pictures of the issues I had with my gate valve. Repairs were done in about 45 minutes and all the neighbors were happy the water didn't have to be off for the 2 hours maintenance told them it would be. He told me how to prepare and what to expect. We found that the valve had actually been dripping behind the wall and had just melted the drywall, he offered to refer me to a drywall guy he's worked with to redo the wall and also explained how I could cover it on my own if I didn't want to pay someone to do it. Tom helped me screw in a plug box for a new disposal when my drill died then mounted.

Total cost was explained and fell in line with what we had discussed because other than the drywall no surprises, fell just above the average for other quotes, good price for quality work that I don't have to worry about.

Super nice, friendly, cleaned the work area after and explains what was done, and things to look for in a condo as old as mine.
