selling of the new air conditioner was great, installation went smoothly and air worked great September and October turned off for winter. went to turn on heat..nothing happened service call found out a valve had not been turned on. no problem! went to turn on the air in May nothing worked. Called for service again 2 people came out and after a couple of hours determined I had a leak under ground and and a new line would need to be installed up over the roof and down to the unit, costing almost $6grand. hard $ amount to take and I needed to think about it. My insurance agent suggested I get a second opinion. I found 2 air conditioner specialist and each suggesting moving the unit on the roof. One specialist ran test to try finding the leak. his cost was almost $500.00 but found the leak to be inside the new unit, not underground. Contacted Intelligent design again service manager came out filled unit with needed freon, agreed to order coil unit for inside and replace if needed. It was replaced they did a pressure check and determined there was no leak underground. I could have spent the almost 6grand and had a new line and still had the leak or get a second opinion. i feel should be reimbursed my out of pocked expanse to find to find what Intelligent Design should have found the fist time! Of course I have not heard one thing from the company! So as the saying goes my house feels like hell not heaven!
February 3rd we had a scheduled meeting with Zachary. He came out did an amazing job , evaluating and looking at what we needed for a unit to be installed. We have a modular home so he had to send the Owner a message to see if they had the part . Zachary told us that he should get a response while he was still there as Andrew was pretty fast in these circumstances well Zachary was there for about another 30 minutes and still no response from Andrew. Zachary left with promises that he would get us our estimate by days end or the next day. I called at the beginning if this and was told that someone would return my call. Here it is the 24th 2023 and we have heard not one word from them. For a company that touts a personal touch and high customer service they epically failed and we will NOT be doing business with them.
We no longer found them honest, after using their service for many years, and pleased with it. Then recently we were given an estimate for plumbing ($1300), decided to get a second opinion, and found that no work actually was necessary.
We had also previously discovered that promised work on our A/C system had not been done as we had been told.
Sorry to end the relationship - but once bitten, twice shy.
Charles G.They came and fixed their unbelievable flange repair. The customer service rep and plumber( Wes) we're great.
I just moved to Tucson in December 2021. I bought a home where the air & heating system were working, but I knew they would need to be replaced in the next few years. The home also had a cooler which was adding to the draftiness and noise every time the wind blew, (which I learned is quite often in Tucson.) I met with some very fine sales reps while interviewing HVAC companies. Zack from Intelligent Design gave a very thorough presentation that included very impressive testing. Zack's enthusiastic and thorough presentation, along with the products used and product guarantees, sold me on Intelligent Design. Sammy and Steve did the removal and instillation of the new system. They also removed the cooler capping and sealing the whole where it stood. The instillation crew was friendly, respectful of my home, accommodating, and really knew what they were doing. They cleaned up afterwards and installed a top notch system. They did the job in just under 5-hours, and though it was 102 degrees , the house never had a chance to get hot. Kudos to whoever does the hiring. You could have not asked for better people to be in your home. Well done all!
Jodi B.We called them when our air conditioner did not work, along with several other companies for comparison and reality check. They said we needed a whole new system for a very expensive fix. Two other companies said they can fix it, and gave us more realistic price, and we hired one who did just that. We were very upset because of their overselling --by thousands of dollars! Do not recommend.
We bought an HVAC maintenance plan with them where they are supposed to come every six months, and they have rescheduled with us about five times. The last time we got a call from the technician saying he was on the way at 1 o'clock and I spent the entire afternoon at home waiting on him but he never showed up. I tried to call the office but they transferred their phone lines over to the after hours answering service about an hour before they were scheduled to close, I left a message to speak with the manager. And no one called me back, but surprisingly around 5 o'clock the technician called to see if we were still at home which we were not.
Not reliable at all.
Bernie O.Our A/C went 'belly-up'. My wife does NOT do well with heat -- she believes anything above freezing is a heatwave. My options are to either get it fixed (3 hours before it happened) or hear her inferring that the end is near.
Ergo, I called Intelligent Design. I'd heard their ads on KNST several times and felt they were the kind of people I wanted to do business with. It was an $89 service charge but they gave me a military discount, bringing it down to $69.00
Jordon was great. They gave me a time frame and then Jordon called just before arriving. He was personable, knowledgeable and didn't try to snow me with a bunch of 'bravo sierra'. I'm not an A/C technician, but I have enough knowledge to know if someone is trying to come up with nonsense to make the bill go up.
Jordon was honest and I had complete faith in him. In no time the A/C was fixed and at an honest price.
Our A/C needed a part and Jordon was honest about saying, ""I know that with your knowledge you could replace the part for less money, but he had one on the truck was more than happy to install it if I wanted him to.
The bottom line when evaluating a company, for me, anyway, is to ask yourself if you would recommend a company to a friend or relative. For me it's an emphatic YES, when it comes to Intelligent Design A/C and heating.
I used Intelligent Design to install 4 mini splits in my home 2 years ago.
I have had constant problems with one of the units. They have made at least 15 service calls and the technician can never fix it. The unit floods my kitchen with water on a regular basis. This company is always trying to find blame for problems on me. They were out a couple days ago and the service manager and technician placed blame on another company I had clean this unit.
They refused to make it right said my warranty was not going to be honored.
Paul the service manager basically wanted technicians walk away and leave us high and dry with a broken unit.
I called the other company who had cleaned my unit and upon inspection they said the pump Intelligent design installed was far too inadequate for pumping water out of this unit, And because it is not a Dakin part should be made right by Intelligent design.
For 2 years their technician has not been able to diagnose this and I have had mold damage to my home and been blamed constantly.
Do NoT use this company.
They are over priced and treat customers horribly.
Bought a service plan from these folks. Yikes. They showed up to tune up the air conditioner and heater and drain and check the water heater. For the 7 year old air conditioner they charged me $800 for a new computer panel but told me the unit was near the end of its life and the air conditioner and heater would need to be replaced within the year. For the water heater they claimed they could not drain it because it was too calcified but again they were happy to sell me an entirely new one. When the air conditioner began having the same problem a week later they sent over someone who took one look and said the whole thing needed to be replaced. Fortunately, got someone else to look at both the air cond / heater and water heater.....he had no problem draining the water heater and said it should work for another 10 years. Same for the air cond problem, easy fix (water drain clogged) and still working great. To me the whole service plan from these folks is just a scam to sell you new stuff ASAP even if the old stuff just needs a bit of a tune up. I would not trust these folks to fix a paper clip.
