Own an Emerson Insinkerator garbage disposal. Installed 8 years ago. Happy with product until the power module failed. The company quotes a price of $92 for replacement parts (including sink top switch). Sink top switch has plastic housing, rubber seals, rubber gasket, rubber/plastic air tube and the power module. That is highway robbery. Philosophically....will not support a company that OVERCHARGES for replacement parts. So much for manufactured in the USA.

This review has specifically to do with an in-warranty repair for an Insinkerator garbage disposal. The Appliance and Refrigeration Hospital (Portland, OR) is the only local service company for Insinkerator. They identified that the disposer (only 14 months old) needed to be replaced within 5 minutes of arriving, and ordered a new one. After 11 days of waiting for the disposer, the wrong disposer was brought to my home. My model was recently discontinued and the replacement is significantly larger, so my plumbing would have to be reconfigured to accept it, which the local servicer *does not do*.

I was encouraged to find a plumber at my own expense to do the work. The local servicer will keep the disposer at their warehouse, so I will also have to pay the plumber at least an hour of labor to drive there and back to exchange the defective unit for the new one. If I decide to go forward with this in-warranty replacement I will likely end up paying more than simply buying a new disposer.

Buyer beware - if you buy a garbage disposer that is subsequently discontinued, the warranty is essentially void.

The technician who came to my home was friendly and apologetic, but the ""Regional Manager"" was very rude to me. Extremely disappointed in ARH and Insinkerator.

purchased a new Insinkeratoer from Sears and it had a leak so i called Sears to see if they would just exchange it. Sears was very frustrating to deal with. I than called the 1 800 # on the side of the disposal ( Insinkerator factory ) and had a new one the next day. Every product has problems from time to time, its the way the problems are handle that determines if the customers come back. I will always use Insinkerator and recommend to anyone
