Independence Pump and Motor

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I was quoted $600 for a new pump and motor with warranty. Ultimately, I paid $1000 for new wiring (based on their diagnosis which I now question), and a ""rebuilt"" motor with a ""one year warranty."" After misrepresenting the work was complete they demanded immediate payment and ""only accept"" ACH (so no recourse with your credit card company -- but you still sue). Turns out the motor installed faulty and unsafe (jerry-rigged rebuild unit with an oversized capacitor) and failed within months. The company as refused to honor the warranty or replace the motor.

Want to work with a company that no shows for appointments, breaks their word, fails to honor their warranty, has an ""always full"" voicemail, then blocks your phone number after ripping you off? Then Independence Pump and Motor is the company for YOU. Here is my experience -- verified by text in writing.

8/27/18: Spoke with owner, Stephen, on the phone. Original job confirmed by text.
8/28/18: Failed to show to do work.
9/1/18: Owner confirmed he would come out that day, but failed to show.
9/10/18: Owner confirmed he would do the job that day but failed to show.
9/11/18: Showed up but did not complete the job. Installed a used motor -- different from the one agreed upon -- but did not tell me. The motor installed did not have a shaft cap on it (bad during the monsoons). When I called him on it, he claimed that motor was ""temporary"" and that the wiring was faulty.
9/28/18: After a lot of back and forth, the wiring was replaced with an electrician coordinated by the company (which also charged me directly for that work). They installed another rebuilt motor that date, claiming it was ""less than two years old"" and confirming it has a ""one year warranty, same as the manufacturer"".
4/4/19: I discovered the motor installed was FAULTY and UNSAFE - it was jerry-rigged oversized capacitor.
4/4/19: Owner said he'd be down ""that afternoon"" -- did not show.
After this date I sent multiple texts to the owner and made multiple calls - no response.
4/10/19: Motor failed due to an ""overcurrent"" fault due to the FAULTY JERRY RIGGED ""REBUILD."" Multiple texts followed. The company never responded to any texts after that date. Stephen (mistakenly) answered one call (VM never accepts messages).
5/1: Owner finally answered his phone (probably thinking it was a potential new customer, not an upset existing one), and promised to come by. I let him choose the date. He did, 5/3. I told him I'd be leaving a negative review, negative BBB rating and filing suit if he didn't finish the job.
5/3: Owner never showed.
Now the owner has blocked my number.

I GAVE THIS COMPANY SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES TO DO THE RIGHT THING BUT THEY FAILED OVER AND OVER AGAIN. STAY AWAY.

Wonderful service. Steven saved the day, when another motor guy (stay away from CJ 99dollarmotors) took my motor and my money and never showed back up. Steven replaced my missing equipment at an affordable rate and came out quickly to get it all back up and running.

Steven the owner is directly involved in all operations. He cares for his customers satisfaction to the extreme even to the point of having his phone on 24 hours a day in case of emergency! Incredible workmanship with reasonable prices. One of the best company's I have ever dealt with!
