DO NOT USE.....recently contacted for issues with a clogged drain. He did NOT fix the problem and was way overpriced! Call Mr. Rooter instead!
Larry S.I called this business when I came home to a situation, spoke to the owner who FaceTimed me and Walked me through troubleshooting the issue. He educated me and was able to resolve the issue, saving me time and $. He was definitely a talker !
To owner/plumber Steve's credit, he discovered my plumbing problem: the sewer main in the basement is cracked and leaking, and likely clogged--although he was the first plumber to come out. The problem with his service was that his diagnosis and subsequent snaking down a toilet farther along the clogged pipe took 6 hours (mostly spent thinking, trying to figure out the problem, and sharing his knowledge. As he said, ""I know everything about plumbing"".) And it cost me $810. I felt trapped, so I paid it. (His estimate was $600-800.) Another problem: His snake was only 85 feet long. (My sewer main is approximately 150 feet long.) When I asked him how long the job would take to replace the cracked pipe, he said, ""I have no idea; you don't do these that often."" Two subsequent companies who came out, both of whose workers had done hundreds of these sewer main pipe replacements, answered the question ""a full day."" To say I was over charged for the diagnosis and snaking is an understatement. And it was by someone who apparently has very little experience in sewer main replacement. His estimate was $2,800-3,400. Who ever heard of an estimate range?! You can bet he'd charge the $3,400. And he quoted the permit fee as $250, which he said would be extra. The company I hired called my city's engineering department while still at my house and learned the permit cost $60, which was included in their estimate, which was $1930. On top of all this, Steve was rude to the point of being beligerant to me. Shortly after he arrived, when I was telling him about the leaks, he said, ""I'm waiting for you to stop, so I can think."" A little later after he and his assistant/daughter came up from the basement, he actually apologized for the disrespectful way he spoke to me. I am surmising his daughter must have chastised him. So, I was taken advantage of...by a nasty know-it-all. Don't you make the same mistake.
Do not call them!!!! You will regret if you call. A few days ago, my drain got clogged and water cannot go down to the drain, so I was searching for a plumber. Unfortunately, I found Independence Plumbing. A employee told me that it is going to cost around $59 to find out problems, so I agreed on the price. However, after they took a look at my drain and told me they will need to snake the drain in order to get rid of the problem and it is going to cost $198, so I agreed on that again (should have said NO).
Anyway, they brought in a tiny metal snake and started putting the snake in the drain. After 20 or 25 mins, they did not go anywhere, so they suggested it is the problem with main sewer pipe and the main sewer pipe will need a large snake which will cost another few hundred dollars if he switches to a big one (damn, who the F*** in plumbing business charges customer based on tool size rather than a job). By that time, I realized I got the wrong person. Since I already got rip off for the first try by Independence Plumbing and I really want to get my drain fixed, I asked will the problem be solved if they bring the big snake in. The answer was really pissed me off because they said no one would guarantee it since they cannot see what is down there (can't believe they don't even have proper equipment to see the drain with camera........totally failed...)
Luckily, I did not let them do the second time. Instead, I called other professionals and we found out the problem with drain clogged was due to tree roots, so we cut the roots and everything works just fine. Independence Plumbing could not even point out right direction for us and just randomly charges us $$$$$$$$$$.
Worst Ever. We called this company after a pipe burst and scheduled him to come out the following morning. He came out, charged us $750 to repair the pipe and said he needed to come back a second time to repair the drywall (at an additional cost). When the insurance adjuster came to the house and called him questioning why he charged us so much, he stated,"" because it was a Saturday and it was cold."" To sum it up: this guy will find any way to take advantage of someone with a plumbing issue.
Recently my water stopped running. This near the end of a long cold snap in the winter. So I called the water department and they said my line is frozen underground. The technician from the city said it might be on their side or mine, but he was not allowed to do any more. I had to call a plumber, so I called this outfit. Now consider the main line is 3-8 feet underground. I just wanted to know if they had the equipment to thaw the line. The plumber tells me he needs to charge me just to look at the line. There is nothing he can even see! I had no water pressure, the line is empty, and the main is underground. So I called a competitor, who did NOT charge me just to come out. This guy is the type that will find a way to charge $500, no matter if he fixes it or not.
David G.This guy was probably the RUDEST person I have even spoken to...to the point that I hung up on him during the conversation. Rude rude rude! I would never do business with some guy like this!
