I have American Home Shield Home Warranty and my master bathroom shower faucet fell off of the wall. (Handle itself fell out). Looking inside the handle I saw old nasty plastic was broken and a brass pin was broken. Home built in 2003 so that makes this device 19 years old. We called American Home Shield and when asked if this was due to """"normal wear and tear?"""" We told them yes, this is 19 years old, in our adult master bathroom shower and no games were played simply turning on and off the water for the shower for two adults. Yes after 19 years things break which is why we have the American Home Shield Home Warranty. We pay $100.00 per month and $100.00 for each service visit and the rest should be covered by the Warranty company as long as it's normal wear and tear. They told us on the phone it is covered and would assign a plumbing technician which they did. The Plumbing Technician was Christian from """"In Control Plumbing Service."""" He asked us to send pictures to his cell phone so he could see what might be happening and we did so. He then came to our home a couple of days later and took a literally 5 second look and said he knows exactly what the issue was. He told me the cartridge was broken. He said, """"you should have called when it was hard to turn before it broke."""" I told him, """"it was never hard to turn, it simply broke after 19 years when we tried to turn it on."""" He said ok. He then said it should be covered by the warranty company but he had to go outside to call it in. He came back in my home and told me American Home Shield denied the warranty claim saying they (American Home Shield) felt this was not broken because of normal wear and tear. He apologized and said he could fix it for $275.00 but he would have to go in from the closet behind the shower to get to the cartridge and replace it but he does not do dry wall so I would have to repair that. I told him I do dry wall and that would not be a big deal. I then looked up on google """"average life of Moen faucet cartridges"""" and it said 20 years (which puts this in that timeframe. I then found the cartridge on Amazon for $28.99. I looked up """"replace moen shower faucet cartridge"""" and found many quick and easy 5 minute videos all over YouTube showing you simply go in from the front (shower side not """"behind the wall ripping through dry wall) because the cartridge literally slides in and out from the front where the handle was. I pulled the old one out and it was almost cemented in there because it was in for two decades and highly corroded. I slid the new one in and it was all fixed. My closet dry wall did not need to get ripped apart and I saved $250.00 up charge from Christian and his In Control Plumbing Service. I called American Home Shield to get a refund on the $100.00 service fee since both American Home Shield and the Plumbing Technician told me this should be covered by the warranty. The American Home Shield service rep read me the report from Christian the Plumbing Technician which said, """"the break was caused by excessive force"""" so they denied the claim and charged me the $100.00 service fee. I told them this is a device made of plastic with a brass pin that has a lifespan of 20 years on average and there was never force needed to simply take a shower. After 19 Years the device decayed and became brittle in a shower only adults use. I told them: I believe Christian lied to me since he blamed American Home Shield denied the claim. I believe Christian wanted to get paid more by the homeowner ($275.00) than what he could charge the Home Warranty company for the job. Christian either a.) Does not know how to replace a shower faucet cartridge (you can only change it from the front...look it up on google or you tube or b.) he wanted to make the job look like it was worth $275.00 by making a mess in the closet because he knows if we watched him simply pull the old one out and slide new one in we would not be convinced it was worth $250.00 on top of the cost of the $29.00 cartridge. For what it's worth $100.00 is a non-issue. What is a priority is making sure this man doesn't enter your home. He doesn't know what he's doing, he has no integrity and he will scam you and your warranty company. I am glad I did the old """"trust but verify"""" him before letting him do the job. In Control Plumbing Service and Christian in particular is the classic small business man who homeowners fear. You want to trust people but this guy reminds us to check, check and double check people, prices and processes. I hope this helps anyone who is reading this. Respectfully, Ben

Was assigned to assist with my water and advised he would reach out in 24 hours. 4 days later a text message telling me they are busy.

Chris Roney is an honest and capable plumber and I was impressed with the speed with which he finished replacing the stuck Moen cartridge and replacing with a new one. His price was very reasonable. Our family really appreciated his wearing a mask all through that hard work (in COVID-19 days, if you're reading this when memories of it have faded). Most certainly recommend him and will call on him for future work.

Found this plumber through an online service called Porch.com. I'd stated I needed a gas-licensed plumber to purchase and install a new propane water heater. The owner of In Control Plumbing Services, Chris Roney, called within 5 minutes while he was commuting between projects. He was able to get me exactly what equipment I'd requested and we were fortunate enough he was able to fit us into his busy schedule for an install the very next day. Chris was exceptionally responsive and pleasurable to work with. His rates are great and we'll be using him for all our future plumbing needs.

I spoke with Chris about adding a tankless water heater. He provided so much starting point information, so that knew what I needed and could make an informed decision! I appreciate his knowledge in kindness in that starting of this project for me

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! VERY unprofessional! Home Serve sent In Control Plumbing to my home and they refused to do the job, claiming there was a swamp under the house and feces. Home Serve backed them up, claiming that the plumber wasn't required to go into 'unhealthy or dangerous' situations. Hello? They're PLUMBERS! That's why they have vacs, to clean/clear up the situation and then do the job! I had to hire someone else and pay him to do the job and he said there WAS a lot of water, to be expected, since there WAS a leak, but no feces! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

My home warranty company sent out for a plumber to come find a reoccurring problem with our plumbing in our house that flooded recently because of a sewage back up. The plumber came out and without running a snake or camera in the line he said there was no problem because it wasn't stopped up that he could see with his eye. I pleaded with him to run a camera and he refused. Told my Home Warranty Company that there was nothing wrong. Well after he left my house the General Contractor that is doing the repairs for our house from the flood came. When I explained to him and the plumber that works with him. They looked at our drain lines and wouldn't you know it they were full of water. They said the plumber that came out must have not wanted to work or was lazy but none the less was not not professional or to thorough or didn't want to take on a job he had to figure out. All I can do is offer you prayer that you don't get this same plumber. I would lost his name but since he said his boss agreed with his findings I think the pictures taken less than an hour after he left tell the story. I will never hire nor recommend this company.
