Dwayne is incredibly responsive and knowledgable, and he's been great across multiple jobs. First he installed an earthquake gas cut-off for us efficiently and effectively. More recently, he helped us trouble-shoot a hot water heater issue in a way that actually cost him business: he gave us the right answer over the phone and avoided a house call (and a charge). It's great to find a plumber we can trust.

Dwayne was incredible! We had several plumbers come out due to a tankless hot water issue, each recommending thousands of dollars worth of repairs, one even recommending to change all the pipes (that were installed in 2022...) across the entire property.

Dwayne came in listened to what else was done, spent 30 minutes working directly with the manufacturer, identified the issue, had a part already for it & installed it in under an hour.

He communicated very well from first reach out, set expectations with me before arrival, & set fair prices. I definitely know who to call the next time I run into a plumbing issue.

I did not end up needing I Rooter & Plumbing to fix my Rinnai tankless because, with Dwayne's guidance, I was able to get the unit back up and running myself. But, I wanted to write to say how knowledgeable, generous with his time, and helpful he was. Will definitely be calling him back if I am in need of further assistance.

My water heater stopped heating overnight. I shut it down and restarted it several times. It would start to heat for about 10 seconds then shut off, including the pilot.

I contacted I Rooter and Plumbing based on a listing on Home Advisor or Angi and the positive Yelp reviews. I received a reply from Dwayne offering a free diagnosis and repair estimate and to send my home address info, which I did. He later called to say the pilot assembly needed to be replaced which he could do the day after obtaining the assembly kit. The kit and installation would cost around $800. When I explained that the pilot was fully functional, he said ""then it's a much more serious problem.""

Since the water heater is 15 years old, I asked if it was better to replace it rather than invest in an expensive repair. He said yes - $2250 for a tank water heater, $4800 for a tankless which he could order the next day and install the following day. I texted him shortly after our conversation to request he do an in-person inspection and diagnosis to make certain that an expensive replacement was the best and necessary option. Four days later, he still has not responded to either of my text messages.

I called PG&E to ask for advice and a referral the day after talking with Dwayne. I explained the issue with my water heater and they immediately said it sounds like a gas pressure issue, not a water heater issue. They dispatched a tech within the hour, immediately diagnosed the issue as low gas pressure due to a partially tripped emergency shut-off valve, reset the valve, restarted the water heater and it has been working perfectly ever since. They resolved the problem in less than ten minutes at no cost to me.

I Rooter and Plumbing lists gas line repair as one of its offered services. Since this a part of their expertise, I'm curious why gas pressure was not even considered in Dwayne's diagnosis of the problem. I gave him the same and description information I gave to PG&E.

Bottom line, by not following Dwayne's over-the-phone ""diagnosis"" and recommendation, I saved at least $2,250 or $4,800 had I selected the tankless water heater option.

I do not recommend I Rooter and Plumbing.

I Rooter was fantastic. Dwayne was very responsive and very helpful. A real professional. My Rinnai on demand water heater had shot down. All indications pointed to a costly repair. After arriving at my home he diagnosed the problem, repaired the machine, and had me up and running for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend.

Dwayne is an outstanding professional. He was the only plumber I contacted who was able to repair my on demand water heater without making a fuss how difficult and time consuming a job it would be. He had to make more than one visit, was always on time and courteous. I will definitely call him again for any plumbing issues.

We had our shower drain snaked to unclog drain not too long ago & is now plugged again! I was told there was a 1 year warranty. I have contacted Dwayne Pettway many times. He keeps telling me he will come over to refix the shower drain 4 different times & never show up & keep putting me off till the next date that he promised & never show again. He also keep trying to upsell me, telling me it is other problems, without even looking at anything. I can never reach him by telephone. It is always a voice mail & he never return my calls. Definitely would not recommend this company! He keeps giving excuses when we talked to him in person. He just happens to live close by so we see him from time to time. The only way to talk to him is when I catch him on the street.

Shout out for Dwayne. We had a Rinnai tankless water heater fail, after a floor refinisher did not cover it.... sigh.... Hard to find people that work on these. Dwayne was great. Super communication, didn't even charge me to look at it, once he realized it was not fixable. He had me order a new one, so there was no uncharge on the price. He finished exactly when he said he would. Plus, he's a really nice guy. I will use I Rooter and Plumbing again!
