After getting estimates from 4 HVAC contractors, I went with HVAC Performance by W&A to change over the gas forced-air HVAC in a 101-year-old home I purchased, to all heat pump. Mr. Marroquin's price was extremely competitive; he seemed to know a great deal about systems and equipment, and I really liked his ""all in"" pricing because the electrician work came bundled into the price. (Drywall repair was NOT included - but that turned out to be okay because I'm having solar panels put in later and that site survey crew was thrilled about pre-cut holes, LOL!)

This was a BIG project; removal of a gas furnace and replacing it with 7 indoor air handlers and 3 outdoor compressors. The entire project took about one month to complete - almost exactly what had been predicted.

Even before he could get started on the new project, the existing ""whole house"" heat pump system that serviced the upstairs of the 3,100 sq. ft. house broke down on a 95-degree day in D.C. Mr. Marroquin came out and worked all day on a Sunday to get it going, as the upstairs system would be the only AC for the house for the month it would take to change over to the new system that would service the main floor and lower level. He rejuvenated the existing system and gave it a comprehensive servicing for a very good price.

We had to store equipment on site for a bit, but I liked that Mr. Marroquin wanted ALL of the equipment in hand before he started the project so we wouldn't be left hanging by supply chain issues.

For the new install project Mr. Marroquin stayed in constant contact so I could trust he and his crew would be there on the days he'd said they would, or else he would let me know promptly of changes in schedule. I was on work assignment on the opposite coast, so he, I and my house sitter were able to work out a good system for giving him access to the house via a key box and us remotely resetting the alarm at the end of each workday. Mr. Marroquin was extremely conscientious about securing the house and texting me until I confirmed the alarm was reset.

He tented EVERYTHING with plastic and put down tarp to protect the wood flooring (there were appreciative messages hand written on the tarp thanking me for my business!) Even as the owner of the company, he was pretty much the last person to leave the job site every day, taking time to sweep and even wet-clean some areas.

Because of the configuration, there needed to be conduit cover for lines on the front of the house. I was very concerned about these being too noticeable and detracting from my curb appeal. Mr. Marroquin took great care to obtain paintable line-set conduit for these and he color-matched and painted them PERFECTLY to blend in with the color of the stucco.

He was also responsive to my concerns about condensate from the outdoor compressors draining too close to the home's foundation and on my rear deck. He was creative, coming up with inconspicuous clear tubing and PVC piping systems to drain the water away.

When the job was done he brought HIS MOTHER to the house to help with the final cleaning - so impressive!

As you can tell, I'm very pleased with HVAC Performance and Wilson Marroquin. The only areas where the service could have been a bit better were around ""paperwork"" issues. Like most contractors who work from sun up to sundown, paperwork is often the last thing they get to. I never did get a fully completed contract before the work started, and I had to make a pest of myself to get the final invoice with cost breakouts so that I could claim my rebates and energy credits on my taxes.

Also, Mr. Marroquin was very enthusiastic about Daikin brand - and the units ARE very quiet from what I'm used to and the price was good. But the plastic housing of the air handlers was apparently extremely delicate and the crew cracked the condensate pump access slots on every single unit! Mr. Marroquin and I had to have several talks about how to conceal this. Hooray for white duct tape - not ideal, but not a huge eyesore either.

Very impressed with their service. I was having problems with the HVAC system in my rental in DC and I was not in town. They responded very quickly to my request for quote and scheduled the appointment the next day. I explained I was not going to be there and we communicated over the phone on the problem and fix. They sent me a ton of pictures of what needed to be done and before and after pictures. They are hard workers and stayed late to ensure everything was done properly. I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend.

We called Wilson to complete an in depth plumbing inspection on a home that we were looking to purchase. Wilson stopped by next day and took his time to thoroughly inspect the home and provide a detailed scope of the plumbing setup within the home. Wilson was honest, knowledgeable and most importantly, we could tell that he cared. We decided not to buy the home, but are grateful for Wilson's shared expertise. It literally saved us from buying a money pit of a home! If you want a vendor that cares AND knows what he is doing, call Wilson! He will be our first call for the plumbing projects for our new home.

The refrigerant line on my AC sprung a leak and needed to be patched and refilled. Wilson's estimate was more affordable than other services I looked into and he was also able to schedule the work more quickly than they were, and even ended up finding space to move me up a day earlier than we had originally booked. He not only fixed the original problem, but was able to address some other issues the AC system had with only a modest addition to the cost, and after he finished he even took the extra time to look over a number of other problems I have been having with the leaks and bad flow in the ductwork, lay out my options, and start putting together an estimate for those as well.

I worked with Wilson when I needed my air conditioning serviced for the first time in about 4 years. He was very responsive and explained well what needed to be done when we, not surprisingly, found a fair amount of maintenance was necessary. On one occasion he did not arrive as scheduled; however, he was otherwise on time and he offered a discount to make up for my inconvenience. Since the maintenance Wilson performed, my A/C has been running less often to keep the house cool and sounds less labored. I would not be surprised if my electric bill is lower because the system doesn't have to work as hard now that it has been serviced, cleaned, etc.

My brand new AC unit broke on the hot summer day, I have a baby at home, so I need to fix it asap. Wilson contacted me right away, after I posted the job and came to my house in the same evening. My first impression was how he had empathy for my situation and charged me less than others for the diagnosis fees, plus he worked until 9pm that night to find the issue. Next day, he drove over 8 hours to pick up a replacement part from a manufacture (since its brand new, the coil replacement was covered by the warranty, the original company who installed the unit didn't want to come after hours/weekends for the non-emergency work and their customer rep gave me a hard time), Wilson worked on the issues in the heavy rain, he was soaking wet, (I hope he didn't get sick from it) until he fixed it.

Wilson is really a hard worker, and he is dedicated. I would recommend to everyone who is looking for a great HVAC company that you can always count on.

I called HVAC for a leak in my bathroom area which I had no idea where exactly was leaking from. I called this company using YELP service and two gentlemen came in and found out the source of the leak immediately. We agreed on the charge and within one hour they fixed the issue with superior workmen's ship. Cleaned the area afterwards.

I needed an HVAC company quick! HVAC Perfomance by W&A was the first to respond to a Yelp request. Wilson and I discussed the issue and we scheduled an appointment for the next day between 11& noon. Juan was my technician and he called to see if he could come earlier and I said ABSOLUTELY! Juan arrived and we discussed the problem-outside unit was not functioning and air was blowing out of registers but not cooling. Outside unit was not getting a charge and he corrected the problem and serviced the unit. Very pleasant experience and will definitely keep in mind for future HVAC needs. Thanks to Wilson and Juan my house is cool again!
