Al is terrific and unlike other plumbers I've dealt with, isn't out to rip you off. Removed my oil burner and replaced with gas furnace. Beautiful, clean job. Same goes for the water heater he did after that. He's an artist.

Can not believe Yelp did not post 2 current great reviews from actual customers but kept a questionable 9 year old review.

Al (and Jack, his brother) are awesome. He re-plumbed our entire home, which is a 100-year-old tudor. He's a third generation plumber and therefore is extremely knowledgeable. He won't do the highest priced fix first and try to save you money as well (e.g. our water heater was very old, told us to hold off because he thought it would last at least another year - and it did!). Does excellent, high quality work, and does not cut corners, which is essential when hiring subcontractors.

Al and Jack Hurlburt seem to know everything there is to know about boilers and did an excellent job replacing our old gas boiler with a high-efficiency Viessman unit.

Hurlburt's was recommended by a contractor friend who uses them extensively. We already two bigger, nationwide companies come out to give estimates. Both of them priced out the job more than two thousand dollars higher than Hurlburt's for standard (not high-efficiency) boilers. Each of the guys was there for about an hour, shuffling papers and talking away. They were clearly waiting until we either agreed to an installation or asked them to leave.

In contrast, Al Hurlburt stopped by on a Saturday morning, took a look at our old system, gave us a price, and left.

Reading the negative review from nearly ten years ago above, I will say that there were a couple of fits and starts in getting the job going. We were working during the busy winter season and a cold snap to boot. They were supposed to start one day but made a little progress. But they came back a couple of days later and got it done promptly (important) and right (more important). When they finished, Al was leaving and I asked whether he would send a bill and almost as an afterthought he said, ""sure, or you could just give me a check,"" which I did. I didn't get a receipt. I'm sure I could get one if I needed it.

I would recommend the quality of their work without reservation.

Was a no show twice (no call, I had to call him and ask him where he was and if he was still coming). When he did come, wouldn't give receipt for services performed. Save yourself the hastle, go with a more professional and reliable plumber.
