Steve from Hug Plumbing came out to have a look at a clogged drain line. The line had been snaked a couple of times (once by another plumbing company, and another time by myself) but that didn't manage to fix the problem for more than a few days. Steve offered to snake the line again; we took him on that, as he had a snake with a narrower cable designed to go around tight bends in smaller lines.

The narrower cable was able to go farther down the line than was previously managed, so a good start. Steve really made me a fan, though, with his tenaciousness and desire to really understand the problem. Without getting into details, the drainage system was showing some strange symptoms, and Steve spent a good 2 hours working to figure out what is going on. He crawled under the house several times. He snaked the drain a few times, put the snake back on his truck, but then decided to haul it back in the house to run it down again, just to be sure about something. He spent time working through various theories and discussing them with me.

He did all this even though he was charging a flat (and very competitive) fee to do the job, and even though the company does not guarantee drain cleaning (which is not unusual). In other words: he was putting in the effort just because he wanted to do a good job!

Due to the nature of the problem, he wasn't able to fully resolve it during the visit, but he did as much as anybody could be expected to do, and more. He was professional and a very nice guy.

Wish I would have had a choice on the heating and air conditioning company
that I could call. Unfortunately my home warranty limited me to Hug Plumblng.
Took forever to get a service technician out. Once he gave the diagnosis it took
another 2 weeks to get service completed. Services he performed did not
fix my air conditioner and I paid a ridiculous amount. This I figured out as I
had to have another company come out and fix my air conditioner correctly.
Wrong diagnosis, not happy!!

I'd give 10 stars if I could! Dealing with contractors and service people for 23 years at my home, this is the best service I have ever gotten, hands down. Our 14 year old air conditioner went out, and certain I needed a replacement, called Hug. Got a return call within 5 minutes. The owner told me that in his gut, it just most likely needed repairing but that he would have a person call me within 10 minutes. I thot ""yeah, right"". Bingo, phone rings, we make an appointment for about an hour and a half later. THE SAME DAY!!! Shocked!! Totally nice man comes out, checks entire unit, comes in with the verdict. There was a slow leak, and the freon had run out. Fixes it within the hour, cleaned the unit thouroughly, out the door with frosty air blowing. As a new unit would have cost thousands, Hug saved me bunches of money and hassle!

I will always call Hug! This company is an unbelievable standout in service, professionalism and in saving you money.

When my home air conditioning system broke down on the first hot day of the year I called Hug Plumbing. Within an hour Steve arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem. The following morning, on Saturday, Mark came by with the required repair part, and my air conditioning system was up and running again, as good as new.

I could not be more satisfied with the service I received from Steve and Mark at Hug Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling! I recommend this company without reservations.

Thank goodness for Hug Plumbing!

Had a home warranty issue with a leaking sink valve. After having an incompetent, lazy swindler come to my home and try to bilk my wife out of $100.00 (SEE BOYLE PLUMBING), the warranty company sent Mark from Hug Plumbing. Not only was he courteous and professional, but he identified a problem right away that the Boyle plumber either 1)should have seen and replaced, or 2) when he couldn't get $100.00 out of my wife just left it.

Mark explained everything he was doing, did a very extensive search for any other issues, and showed me what and where the problems had been.

After dealing with Boyle Plumbing (look up their reviews on Yelp) have Mark from Hug was a comforting relief. Will definitely be calling them again.

If you have a home warranty company and live in the S.F. North Bay, by all means MAKE SURE they send these guys!

I was really surprised to read the other review, because I had exactly the opposite experience. I had a leaky bathtub faucet, and the plumber came out and determined that it had a broken valve. I'll spare you the boring details, but we had a hard time locating the part so he ran an couple of errands and made some phone calls to track down what we needed, and he actually read the fine print on my warranty to determine that I shouldn't have to pay for the part (the manufacturer was going to charge me). When the part arrived, he came back out and installed it free of charge. My entire bill was $69, which was the minimum charge for a visit, although he probably really spent a few hours, and went out of his way to save me money. I should also mention that her was very polite and professional.

The other day, my heater went out. I called Hug, and they sent out Dave. He was awesome! Even with the rain, he arrived in good time, and quickly diagnosed the problem. It was a very reasonable price, and great customer service! I really appreciated the professionalism with which he worked. I had a great experience overall with the company, and will definitely call them the next time I have any HVAC trouble.

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. My heater was acting up, so I order the yelp deal. A nice enough fellow shows up and terrifies me with stories of carbon monoxide seeping through my system into the house, and how he legally needs to shut off my heater, and it will cost me about $900 to fix the issue, but a new heater will be between $1500 and $3000 so I should just get a new one. With the fear of God in my heart at this point, I grab my dog and evacuate the house. Several days go by, I installed a CO2 monitor with no indication of contamination. I decide to get a second opinion since they had not sent me an estimate. Another company came out and said there was no carbon monoxide, and it would cost me approx $200 to replace the electrical panel. I couldn't believe my ears, could it be that nice young man lied to me? Tried to rip me off? Can you believe it?!? Well, still holding on to the belief that mankind is inherently good, I check one last time. I call up PG&E, a trusted friend. A nice man came out with his handheld CO2 monitoring device and assured me there was in fact no carbon monoxide in my home.
Bottom line, here's what it comes down to. If you want to be ripped off, call these guys, they are experts. YAY!

We had D come out and he was courteous, knowledgable and went out of his way to help us. He came very late at nite and had been busy all day but came out because he knew it was cold am=nd our heater wasn't working. He was very careful and found a second problem about to happen. I would highly recommend this company to all my friends.
