HPS Mechanical Inc. began as Harry's Plumbing Service in 1959, founded by Harry DenHerder. Using just one truck for service calls, he developed a solid reputation for providing excellent work at reasonable rates. HPS continued to expand, primarily focusing on service and remodeling plumbing until it was acquired in 1976 by Harry's son, Les DenHerder. Since that time, HPS has branched out into new construction, pipeline, engineering, and plumbing design services across Southern California and Nevada. We are still recognized for our technical skills and quality service, now on a broader scale. HPS is an innovative company focused on not only addressing your needs today but also on anticipating how we can support you in the future. Les learned the trade from his father Harry, a master plumber, and eventually took over the business in 1976 to uphold his family's legacy of exceptional service to Kern County residents.

These guys are the worst. They stood us up twice while we were waiting for hours and they never bothered to call to say they were going to be late or weren't coming at all. There are some good plumbers out there but this outfit is not among those. I guess they have a lot of work, as they just don't seem to care.

I had an excellent experience with HPS Plumbing.

Kenneth, the service tech, was clean, very professional, and did an excellent job removing and replacing two heavy, 75-gallon water heater(s) (and expansion tank, etc.) from a very tight elevated position in my garage. The price was extremely reasonable, and I am very satisfied. I recommend them, and will use them in the future.

I realize this business listing says Heating and A/C, but it's the same phone number listed for the city project, so here we are!

HPS is doing endless road work in our area of La Jolla. The guys and gals are generally nice accommodating, friendly, and considerate.Today was a big exception. Although the noise and construction aren't supposed to start til 7 am, their street sweeper started before 6:30 am, up and down the street at least a dozen times, pushing about a 1"" layer of dirt around into a noisy dusty hell. It woke up my whole house of visitors on their last day of Spring Break vacation. I got up, dressed, and out to talk to the supervisor, Jacob. He apologized profusely, said he would make him stop, and said it wouldn't happen again. Jacob then spoke to the sweeper driver for about 10 minutes while the noisy truck kept running 2 houses from me..

Done, right? Everything good, issue finished, no Yelp needed, lol.

Sadly, this was not the case, as the street sweeper then started up again 14 minutes later at 6:50 am.. driving right past Jacob and the guys. up and down my street again! The HPS team was growing getting ready to start at the beach parking lot close by. I got up and dressed again and went to speak to the guys, now about 8 of them.. So Jacob, didn't we just talk a few minutes ago? Why didn't you keep your promise? He sure didn't run over and stop them like he should of. I then requested the next supervisor up, who was conveniently standing there. He said he would take care of it, work on another street, and offer 3-4 hours of quiet. We'll see on that. So far, so good!

Add one final little swan song, at 6:58 am the street sweeper (CA License # 6E01571) tried to go down my street again. I had to almost literally stand in the street to stop it. Boy, was the driver glaring at me. Why can't he follow the rules, these are simple city noise ordinance laws..
