Two years after he completed work as a subcontractor for my new 6500 sq ft house, he refused to respond to my telephone calls, texts and emails and come back and look at something that failed on a Moen product that has a lifetime guarantee. Moen was kind enough to send me all replacement components for free as they are committed to doing. Houghton was concerned that he wouldn't be paid. Being somewhat capable myself, I was able to do the repairs myself.

I also pointed out to Houghton, after leaving him a final unpleasant voicemail, that he came back to my house about a year earlier and I paid him within 15 minutes of his presenting the invoice. How could he be afraid to return again?

His lack of response and then his stupid comment about not paying him, are patently absurd. His lack of ethical responsibility is the biggest concern. I also discovered that he made some basic plumbing errors in the installation of the Moen iO digital shower control as shown in the Moen video on how to install this device.

Hopefully folks will realize that Steve Houghton is unreliable and has no integrity toward old clients.
