Eric Watson of Hot & Cold Plumbing and Heating was hired to install a new toilet for my home. He showed up a few days later and installed the toilet and a new water line. After installing the toilet my wife asked him for a final price and a receipt for the work, although the price was higher than his quote we were glad to have the work completed. He produced a ""Service Contract"" with a lot of legal wording unlike anything we have ever seen from a contractor. The preprinted Warranty section had the customary language about work quality guarantees etc. However, he had added to the warranty page in scribbled writing that my wife had difficulty: ""no warranty on work or equipment"". He was in a hurry to leave and my wife paid him only to later decipher the scribbled in qualifier when she carefully examined the document. We were a little uneasy about this apparent conflicting info. since on the way out my wife had asked him what if we had any problems with the toilet and installation. He assured her that he would remedy any faulty labor. The next day we found water all over the bathroom floor and the toilet kept on running, We immediately contacted him and he later left a message that he was going away for the weekend and would get back to us on Monday.. It is now one week later and the only contact from him was a message where he referenced the contract and how he was not responsible for problems with the leak and or installation. He further stated that he would come out but we had to pay a minimum of $145 for the visit. I called and texted him 4 times to discuss this matter and I have not received a return call despite having a leaky and runny toilet. I hired a new plumber because our leak was worsening. The new plumber indicated that the problem was improper tightening of the toilet and the flapper. He fixed both problems in a matter of 20 minutes. It is now 8 days later and we have still not heard back from Eric Watson. Buyer beware!

If I could put a negative star I would. Delay Delay Delay, every excuse in the book. Be sure you put an exact time line in your contract and be ready to pick up the mess left behind. I would never use Eric again. But please don't be late with payment or the harassment will start. One way street with this company.

Eric did an outstanding job working with us to get a big job done in a timely manner. We had to replace all of our water pipes on short notice when we noticed a leak in the basement. He was able to find time in his schedule to get this job done and was efficient, knowledgeable and considerate of our space and time. We are very lucky to have found him - he is great at his job but also an extremely nice and patient person. I think the City of Haverhill inspector said it all when he came out to inspect and said that Eric always does a great job and he had no concerns about his work. He even came back to replace a water faucet and tweak a few things after the job was done. We would definitely recommend him and call him again if plumbing work is needed. Thank you Eric.

We met Eric through our contractor while turning our garage and basement into usable space. He was punctual, honest, excellent pricing, responsive, answered calls and questions patiently, stayed late, coordinated well with the contractor and building inspectors and was pleasant to have around. We recently had him come back and replace a rusted drain pipe. He was once again the same as I remembered. We will be calling him again to install our new gas furnace and connect in new zones.

Working with Eric was such a pleasure. He ran all new plumbing lines for an apartment that I was renovating in Somerville. The work was very professionally performed. He asks the right questions when a decision involved my input and was very good at explaining the pros and cons of doing things one way versus another. Since plumbing comes before much of the electrical and general contractor work, it was particularly important that I felt empowered that I was making the best decisions. He gets an A+ on this. You can tell when a contractor takes pride in his work and this was self-evident to me. Eric instills a lot of trust by diving into any research that might be needed. He has a great work ethic. I would not hesitate to recommend Eric to others. I have already used him again for another entirely separate plumbing project.

I agree with the last reviewer, John N. Eric is incredibly responsive, which is not the norm for some plumbers or contractors. He has done work for me in the past and we were very satisfied. Recently, Eric came out to our home and gave us a free estimate for plumbing work. He also did lots of leg work, researching plumbing parts and codes and going to my town inspectors for the permits. I recommend him highly.
