Hot and Cold Mechanical replaced my furnace. They were always late or canceled. The young man they sent tried his best but was not experienced and left on his own. He had no idea how to turn propane off.They cut through the wall to my bathroom and refused to repair it. Wires were left exposed, I am 73 yr old woman and had to help lift furnace in. I had to have Energy Outreach Colorado come and correct a gas leak and fix poorly installed issues. They wouldn't return my calls. I could go on. Buyer beware!

Subject: Formal Complaint Against Hot and Cold Mechanical, Inc.
To all it may concern,
I am filing a formal complaint against Hot and Cold Mechanical, Inc., due to their grossly inadequate and unprofessional HVAC installation at my residence.
Summary of the Issue
On March 1st, 2024, Hot and Cold Mechanical, Inc. finished installing a furnace in my residence. I never received any documentation about the furnace, like any receipt, manual, permits being pulled, or any proof of their supposed five-year warranty that I was verbally told I had. After further research, I found that they installed a furnace that was made for a much bigger home than mine, and they did not secure the necessary permits or conduct the required inspections. The installation appears severely flawed, causing both safety and functional concerns. Despite numerous attempts to contact the company, they have been unresponsive and unwilling to correct their mistakes.
Details of the Complaint
1. Illegal Installation and Lack of Permits
o The company failed to pull the legally required permits for the installation, meaning the work was performed outside of regulatory guidelines.
o As a result, the installation was not inspected and does not meet code requirements, posing a potential safety hazard.
2. Substandard Workmanship
o The company cut an additional hole in my ventilation to install an external filter due to the furnace didn't have a filter option.
o They cut an additional hole out the side of the house and left a separate tube exposed that apparently has water in it and freezes in cold weather, causing water backup issues.
o They installed two large PVC pipes that emit a gas smell when the furnace is running, creating potential safety concerns.
3. Failure to Address Issues and Poor Customer Service
o I have made multiple attempts to contact Hot and Cold Mechanical, Inc. to address these issues, yet they have been completely unresponsive.
o The company has refused to acknowledge its mistakes or take corrective action.
4. Financial and Safety Concerns
o Due to their negligence, I am now facing additional costs for the improperly installed furnace, obtaining proper permits, and securing a legally compliant replacement.
o The gas emissions and water backup pose safety risks that could lead to serious health or property damage concerns.
Desired Resolution
To resolve this matter, I am seeking the following:
* Removal of the old installed furnace and replace it with a new, compliant system that is meant for the size of my house or reimbursement for the $3,664 it will take to fix the furnace up to code (quote attached).
* Proper permits to be obtained, and an official inspection to ensure safety and compliance.
* Reimbursement for any additional costs incurred due to the company's poor workmanship.

I will never use these guys again! We have been without heat for almost a week and a part was supposedly ordered on Monday but still hasn't come in! I have spoken with other places and that part should have already been here and installed at this point. They never answer the phone and didn't even let us know the part had still not come in. It's cold and all we have for heat is space heaters, that's not safe to have running all of the time.
