Terrible. Charged to snake our drain twice because the first time they couldn't get it done. Drain immediately backed up after they said they had snaked the entire drain. Then was told $5000 repair of my sewer line was the only option. Called Mr. Rooter for a second opinion. They took the time to explain the issused a water jet to clear our system and then gave us a one year warranty for less then $700
Repairman showed up promptly but charged $145 per hour ( without giving estimate) to replace a 5ft section of pipe and it took him 3 hours. Avoid getting ripped off by these crooks and call elsewhere.
Way overpriced. This company tries very hard to over charge, & underperform. They use scare tactics to convince you to dig up your entire yard to replace sewer lines which do not need to be replaced. They also double bill, meaning charge you for 2 man hours when only 1 man is on your site. Work is shoddy.
Very disappointed in this company. Came out several times to fix my bar sink pump. Same younger guy the first 4-5 times, with a service charge each time. Last time, they sent a senior person out who looked at his coworker's efforts and said ""I don't like the look of that"". He ended up using the original pump and some new plastic fittings to correct the 4 previous jobs by his coworker. It could have all been taken care of on one service call, but I had to rearrange my work schedule and pay for several service calls. Most expensive plumbing related job I have ever had.
Kara B.My significant other and I ended up needing to have the pipes snaked again not even two days later. This time we used Cumming Plumbing and they did an amazing job. During the process, we discovered that the work Horton had done when we first moved in was really weird--there were new pipes going uphill (a big no-no in plumbing), two air admittance valves when there should have only been one, and when we later had the line scoped we found that Horton had somehow managed to leave the head of their drain snake in our pipes! We're 100% sure it was theirs because we had the line cameraed before Horton snaked it and I was there when Cumming found Horton's snake head, so I know it wasn't Cumming's.
After consulting a number of professionals, we came to the conclusion that we had to redo nearly all of the work Horton had done on our house because most of it had been improperly installed. We had the work done be another plumbing company, of course, and they did an amazing job. During that work, however, we discovered that Horton's plumbers hadn't even sealed many of the PVC pipes they had installed for us and some weren't even fully attached to each other, which explains why they looked like a waterfall each time we had a backup (Horton's plumbers had assured us this was normal, of course).
Another big difference between our two snaking experiences was that Horton's guy had absolutely covered our floor and wall with sewage and then tracked it up and down our basement stairs so it was everywhere. He used our bleach and paper towels to help us clean it up afterwards, but it was a disgusting experience. I hadn't mentioned this in my previous review since Horton's plumber said that making that much mess was a normal part of snaking and we didn't know better since that was the first time either my significant other or I had ever needed a sewer snaked. Cumming, on the other hand, didn't leave a drop of mess anywhere even though they snaked from the same spot.
Cumming also said their prices, after hours and otherwise, up front before anything else. They've been nothing but pleasant and I doubt any of them would give me an angry call in the morning about how wrong I was if I had voiced a concern.
I'm going to have to retract all the positive things I said about Horton in my last review--they may be prompt, but they do terrible work, their customer service is horrid, and they're much more expensive than other plumbers who do the work properly.
Jonathon J.They came by and helped install new plumbing a month ago. Earlier, this evening, our toilet backed up and started coming out of our bathtub.
We were able to contact them right away, and we got someone down here in ten minutes, which was good.
The biggest problem is that we did not have any warning about how much it'd cost just to check it out.
So, if we had waited till tomorrow, we could've saved 100 dollars, and we would've been fine with waiting, I just wish they would've let us know it'd cost so much just to check it out.
Good news is, they fixed it quickly and the guy working was nice and apologized for the lack of communication beforehand. I'll try out other places next time, but this place did get the job done.
Pros:
Quick, efficient, explain whats going on afterward, polite, decent. (They wore little plastic things on their shoes, yay!)
Cons:
Lack of prior communication, much more pricy at night. (If you do use them, do it during the day.)
EDIT: They called us this morning and the lady said we should've known about the pricing. Minus a star because she was snappy at 10am in the morning.
I, as previous would be cautious. Wish I had read reviews prior to contracting for bath remodels and new toilet(s) installation. All workers were professional and courteous however there were several areas where the work needed to be redone i.e. connection not right under kitchen sink, powder room toilet not level. The biggest caution is to do your homework on countertop recommendation from them. We had marbelite shiny finish and liked them (for 16 years). We decided to go with the matte finish based on the salesman's recommendation (easier to clean/shows less scratches, etc.) BOY WAS HE WRONG - worst counter tops ever!! (Again just a word of caution on this as we should have researched better.) Some final concerns - the button up work is slow/fixtures and tile gaps. Also, caution - they do let apprentices do work which is of major concern and where the above toilet and kitchen sink needed to be redone. I do not feel comfortable about an apprentice installing when I am paying for a master plumber. Synopsis: do your homework and don't pay the balance until job is done to your satisfaction . . . OR YOU ARE COMPLETELY fed up with the cosmetic fixes they try to do to cover up the flaws.
I found out a week after a water leak was fixed by Horton plumbing that they never properly reattached the line to the pressure relief valve. It took 3 1/2 hours to replace a piece of pipe and then they didn't even make sure everything was properly reassembled. When I called the company it still took them five hours to arrive. The plumber Andrew and his manager Sam showed up at my house and acted like it was no big deal. Sam was very condescending. I had asked them not to let Andrew come back out here but they ignored my request. The worst part is I would never have even known anything was wrong if a friend had'nt pointed it out. This could have been catastrophic. $582 for an unsafe job. Don't trust this company with your safety. I wish I hadn't!!!
Andrew A.I have had to call them several times and they come out same day and are very reasonable prices. Their team is in and out fast and take a very professional approach to the job.
""I had Horton do a number of jobs --with no problem...then came the leaky fill valve on the blue toilet. Yeah it is vintage, 1970s , but it has always worked, and only needed new parts inside tank. I hired a crew to do cleaning-- they tightened the valve so they could shut off water to toilet-- to clean tank (over-zealous). They broke the faucet handle on the valve.
Called Horton, to have a sink faucet installed in kitchen, and to fix the now decommissioned toilet...the young guy who replaced faucet- excellent. no mess, no problem--new faucet.
The shady -looking guy working alone in the distant bathroom, destroyed every SEAL on the toilet--where there were NO leaks- now toilet was leaking at tank base where it fits into toilet, it was leaking from new flapper in tank, and it was leaking (big time) from the original problem. the wall shut-off.
He comes out, hands me a bill... the faucet install was $369 (approx), and he wanted several hundred dollars for ""fixing toilet"" -- which was now needing seals which they did not have on truck, nor did they have in shop, which would have to be ordered. He had done NO FIX of toilet-- and this was not a bill for the NEXT visit ,""if he is able to EVEN GET a seal for the tank."" He wanted to sell me new toilet, which would then not match blue shower.
I paid for the faucet install (IN FULL). Bad plumber said he'd call when the seal came in... he never called. Horton is billing me... for their ""plumber"" wrecking a working toilet. My daughter's BF is fixing the toilet.
I haven't paid them...I hate having to fight w/ office staff... this is not the first plumber to break stuff, on purpose, to make a more lucrative job. I am a senior, disabled person living on budget...crooks don't care, they will steal from anyone. Horton should not hire guys like this one.""
