horrible on the hottest day of the year my ac was running great they came for my yearly service check told me i need two switches. $500 later they left. 20 min later my ac is not working so i called.the person i talked to was very rude told me maybe they could be out the next night i told her that was no good i have three fish tanks it gets to hot my fish will die. it was working great before they touched it. she put me on hold for 30 min turns out the tech never hooked up the wires.they are sending out inexperienced techs, going for the money not the service.sad
charged my credit card for a service contract that i did NOT have !!! no contract..... no authorization to bill me.... is that fraud ? or just credit card theft ?
Never heard from anyone from the company and three years later! More people I talk to in Delaware the same story I hear from them!
Okay, to make it brief. I needed a kitchen faucet and a garbage disposal installed. Old ones removed, new ones installed. I had already purchased both replacement items. The estimate for this was $652.00! Really? My friend told me about JDog Handyman Services. They are staffed by all veterans. That's reason enough for me to hire them. But when you add to that the fact that it was $90 to install the kitchen faucet and the same for the garbage disposal, it's clear who should be hired. I don't mind paying for services I need. But $652 to do this job was insane. Shop around people. Hire a vet.
Shemp D.After 20 years of service first from Geiger - now Horizon they are no longer our HVAC company.
An AC unit which showed signs of a leak after 1 year (totally empty of freon) was supposedly repaired.
Over the next 11 years, approximately every 2-3 years it needed a recharge under our maintenance contract. One season the coils froze and the tech said the 5 lb unit was low almost 2.5 lbs of freon.
The last time they came, the unit was again low and blowing slightly cold and they refused to service it due to it being past the manufacture's 10-year warranty and my service contract had not be renewed.
He just kept trying to get me to set up a sales call appointment to discuss a new unit.
The guy refused to recharge it as had been done in the past without charging me a high fee for the full up. I paid extra to them to basically what they did over the last 10 years. I was told there would be no guarantee it would hold the charge and work correctly. Basically if they did it and it lost Freon I'd be out the $$$. I said that's fine just do it. He calls another ""tech"" who has Freon (in an unmarked white pick-up truck) to charge the AC. Once charged the unit once again was working fine.
I went through the entire history of the AC and he just said (with no customer service skill at all) that I pretty much had no options and that he can have someone come to the house to discuss a new unit.
After all the time they continued to service me HVAC and not discuss an ongoing issue that should have been addressed and fixed for 10 years - until my warranty had expired, they basically left me high and dry (or should I say - hot and wet) to the point of telling me I need to spend thousands of dollars for the half-a** service they had provided, or not have AC.
I do not recommend them.
I have heard other stories about a rusted heater manifold or a bad AC capacitor or other parts. There are replacement parts available for a variety of things that could fail - however, profit, sales commissions and finder's fees seem to guide the quality of service provided.
I sure there are units that need to be replaced without question, but a $500 part install can save thousands on a unit that has plenty of life left in it. But replacement seems to be the favorite path.
I don't replace my car simply because it's out of warranty and needs new tires.
this is my second post, first post has disappeared!!!
Made a mistake and called Horizon when my heater broke. Tech arrived and told me it was a lot of money to fix the heater and it would be cheaper in long run to replace it, Salesperson shows up that night, I was told a crew could replace it in the morning at a reduced price. After sitting for a while an hearing the company history and business practices (long and drawn out) I finally got prices and agreed to one and financing. Wow, what a huge mistake I made. It seems that this is SOP for them. I had to sign a waiver to give up my right to cancel so the crew could install the next morning, Then I get my first bill, with a 29.00 activation fee plus interest, Not disclosed at time of sale, I believed it was special financing thru them and I know I would be charges something extra but now I have about 68,00 a month in interest to pay plus the 78000.00. By the time its paid off it will be over double. Never would have agreed to this, I know this has happened to others, I feel betrayed and lied to
Buyer beware of any company that sends a salesperson to your home at 7pm at night.
It has me thinking was the original heater in that bad of shape it was only 13 years old.
I hope this post stays online
I will never use Horizon again. The technician told me that I had to replace parts that did not need to be replaced, over $3000 worth. The technician did not even know what he was talking about. VERY, VERY disappointed. A total waste of my money!!
OVERPRICED! I was originally quoted $729.00 to replace a garbage disposal, after I choked on the price, they lowered the price to $561. I declined the repair...and was charged $49.50 for them to have the opportunity to rip me off. I called a local plumber, who in less than an hour, replace the garbage disposal and the total bill was$180.00. My advice is to deal with your local plumber, a bigger company is not better.
Update: 7 months after posting my review: I received a call from a customer service representative and she refunded me the $49.50 visit charge.
Lauren+Hang P.Mike S. was amazing! Professional, knowledgeable and clearly experienced. We will definitely use Horizon in the future for our plumbing and heating needs. I highly recommend this team!
Horizon Services
I had no intention of writing a review, but now I feel I have to. An install of a kitchen faucet for my elderly mom really negated any positive claims made by any Horizon Services advertisements. I would like to advise anyone contemplating Horizon Services to look at the reviews on Yelp and elsewhere of their other locations to get the full picture. I'd also like to remind the reader that with 640 employees they could easily taint reviews in their favor. I'm not saying that they did or do, but it's definitely possible.
Usually when needing plumbing or HVAC services, your under duress and all you really want is to ""get it done"" rather than ""get it done right the first time"", so immediately your under pressure and can easily be put under their spell.
They do have an unusual estimate process where the ""total job cost"" is spelled out with zero itemization, not even the big parts. The standard of ""parts and labor"" doesn't exist for them and neither does ""time and materials"". You don't need to nickel and dime everything to the fitting, but the customer still need some sense of parts cost.
Back to a faucet, that was leaking (flood leaking) and likely all it really required was a re-build, but a new one was put in it's place. Removal was a snap, because the original faucet had flexible lines and the new one did too, so nothing unusual about the removal and install. Just disconnect two water lines, remove the old faucet (Delta - single lever pull-out type) with a wrench that was left hanging on the last install I did. Assemble and install the new faucet (Moen 7560C, Chrome, single lever pull out type) and your done. I had to hang the Moen wrench securely under the sink to make it easier for the ""next guy"".
Their install of a Moen faucet flood leaked too and did some property damage as a result of it.
Currently, the new faucet an MSRP of about $381.00 and can be had for about $235.00 on Amazon.
So, we now have an ~ $400 faucet and about a $425 labor charge to twiddle a few fittings and tighten them. You get a 2 year parts and Labor warranty from Horizon Services and Limited Lifetime Warranty for parts from Moen for the faucet. Remember ""Limited lifetime"" really means a specific number of years it is designed to last. Limited lifetime warranties shouldn't even exist. They need to be a fixed time.
So, a guy comes out with his pretty booties and gives an estimate which my elderly mom accepted. Right there, your between a rock and a hard place. You accepted the estimate. The guy was a little sloppy and I wished I kept the old faucet. The screw cover was missing when he installed the faucet which I told him about and he did nothing but said he would.
One website estimates ""Expect to pay somewhere in the range of $257 to $475 for the kitchen faucet and installation."" which is definitely not greater than $800 including a senior discount.
There was no mention of a possible repair from the Horizon Services employee. My bet, it was likely just a cartridge. They immediately wanted to replace. They had no clue that none of Moen faucets reset the spay to stream every time it's turned off., but the ""plumber"" said it would act the same as your Delta faucet.
You can do the math for the number of spray/stream shower head actuations; rinsing 40 dishes per day, 2 dish washing events per day and turning it on/off once per dish washing event or once at the beginning and once at the end of each dish washing session. The number of actuations is not good for someone with severe arthritis of the hands. It's now not practical to use the spray mode each time. The Delta faucet had the ability to stay in the mode selected after the water was turned off. Some newer Delta faucets have the ability to select the mode of operation at install time. Reseting to stream mode doesn't appear to be a good design decision.
So, I guess we could have said that the faucet doesn't operate like the Delta after I did the research, including contacting Moen, but we didn't. Moen has no faucets that don't automatically change back to stream at the time of our conversation.
So, in some amount of time (guessing 6 months) the Moen faucet leaks and Horizon sends out a ""highly Trained"" technician. He tightens the cartridge nut and leaves. So in another 6 months or so, it leaks again. This time, I vow to get to the bottom of this. I have an Engineering degree and machine shop skills, and plumbing isn't that hard.
When I can do the work, I know perfectly well what's involved. Sometimes you just don't have the the time. I remember a story where an electrician came to replace the electrical service in his house and he didn't do things properly. It turned out that he had the power to revoke his license. You never know who the customer is.
More to come...hopefully
